I only discovered this concept this week in Znosko-Borovsky's book on the endgame. As I couldn't understand it at all I came to good old youtube and was lucky to find you immediately. What a superb, clear explanation of a very difficult (for some, and certainly for this 1500 who still manages to occasionally blunder his Queen) concept. Thank-you very much.

I studied this position when I was 12 from the maizelis book. Unfortunately, descriptive notation and Russian translation to Spanish made it difficult…but I loved it That was 1974!

Thanks for the video. It's indeed important to know where you would like to go by your pieces at the end game, then you can evaluate the way.

I tried to understand this in Dvoretsky's Endgame Manual, I tried to understand this through CJS Purdy's On the Endgame, I tried to understand this through Jesus de la Villa's 100 Endgames You Must Know. This video was the first time I felt I really understood the concept.

Thank you so much for this video. I was reading a book about fundamental chess endings and didn't understand why the book let some square correspond to an other, but this video made it more clear to me. I found this puzzle to be pretty hard: White to move and win: W: Ka1, pd5, pe4 and pg3 B: Kg8, pd6, pd7 and pg4 Would you like to give this puzzle a try?

Thank you for this I'm having trouble in my games in lichess because I got stuck in 1850 elo 3 min blitz for a while now and I figured why not play like the no.1 chess god engine? This is exactly what I needed now I'm in 1950+ in lichess.

I think the best book written about this subject is 'The final countdown' by Herman Claudius van Riemsdijk and Willem Diederik Hajenius. There also exist a Chessbase CD from this book. I wish someone could make some video tutorials explaining the methods described in this book.
