Tommy wanted to go all out "hard" rock, where Dennis was fine with a more "mellow" rock formate. Which resulted in a head on CRASH. Am I wrong?

I don’t agree with the interpretation. “When the levee breaks” is about pessimism and fear of impending doom.

Eagles haven't been relevant for 45 years and honestly I haven't paid attention to them since, but I did like Frey's Solo stuff, Henley had some good session players on his solo stuff but that was still the 80s. To me eagles quit soaring after Hotel California.

I was never a fan of Styx, although I did buy a couple of their albums in the 70's... I think Gowan is very talented but the band itself just wasn't my cup of tea. It is sad when you see classic bands like this bickering with former members. From the interviews I have seen, Dennis de Young is a pretty decent guy.

Ahhh Styx. Never cared for them much because of "Babe" and the myriad of butchered karaoke covers of that song. They got a second chance with me when Come Sail Away was referenced in South Park, and then my uncle recommending I learn Boat On The River when I took up the mandolin. They alright, just not a band I'd be excited for.

I personally feel that Lawrence Gowan is a great addition to Styx. He’s a great singer and a fantastic showman. Dennis DeYoung, although equally great, was just to controlling over the band, and I agree that Styx is better off not reuniting with him

For some, Styx without Dennis is OK, but it's not real Styx. Their new albums might even be good. But, for me, there is no Styx without Dennis.

I was huge Styx fan back in the 70s when I was quite young. Equinox, Crystal Ball, Grand Illusion and Pieces of Eight represents their hey day. But Styx without Denis is just not Styx.

Paul McCartney can hit higher notes, and more importantly, is much more versatile than R. Plant, who used technical distortion to record his voice 80% of the time. Lou Graham can hit higher notes. Bob Seger is up there with R. Plant. Again, this guy is so in thrall to Plant and LZ that it clouds his judgment. All people fall into this from time to time, but many all the time.

Styx was up and down for me. I wasn't a big fan of Mr. Roboto, but a huge fan of The Grand Illusion. Although going back through tonight, (online catalogs are wondeful things) I remember more like than dislike. There's a reference here where someone said "Come sail away with me, lad" was creepy. It's a reference to 17th century captains trying to recruit sailors. "Come sail away with me lad, and we'll go on many adventures." Not creepy...

Always such a big fan of that blues tune, since I love the blues. Down here in New Orleans we take that song very seriously, especially after Katrina. FYI, The levee didn't break. It was bown up with 3 seperate blasts. I was a nurse then and my 9 Ward patients that survived, told me all the details. "When the levee breaks, Mama you gotta go."

Eagles 2024 have nothing to do with the Eagles I used to love and admire back in the day. It's the equalent of McCartney touring with hired hands and singers under The Beatles name. They might put on a good show but can't be compared to the real thing. "Mom I watched the Eagles live last night". "You mean the Don Henley & Hired Hands Group, son?". "Yeah, buy that doesn't sound so impressive when I talk to my friends".

Jimmy Page once said that Robert's voice was an insane lead instrument all of its own. In the early years of Zeppelin Plant and Page used to do harmonizing between Pages Guitar and Plants voice. Plant could hit any high note Page could play on the guitar and then at the climax of those harmonizing jams Plant would top it off with an insane ascending air raid siren scream and Page would launch into mind blowing solo. This was performed as part of the live versions of Dazed and Confused . The best were from 69 to 71 when Plant Still had all his upper range .

Ha, "Styx" without Dennis DeYoung is just a tribute band. Just like Chicago was finished when Peter Cetera left. I guess vanity and jealousy are more important than pleasing your fans, right, JY and Tommy? Pathetic.

Love a lot of their tracks Michael. Not everything though. This chop each other theatre thats been going on far to long is silly and very petulant. I dont believe it is ever going to stop. Not a big fan as I see the egomaniacal crap between them. I dont care for the false attitude of certain band members. No need for me to point out who. Keep it coming brother!❤❤

Internal feuds are nothing new in rock n roll or music in general. I guess we can hope T and Dennis will call a truce at least, and maybe give one more tour together, just for old time's sake. At least the guys in REM parted as friends when they decided to call it a day. In the former members' most recent interview, I can tell they remain the best of friends, and it's clear they meant it when they hung it up. They're not going on annual farewell tours.

I've always loved STYX from the beginning, but then Dennis started to really take over an insisted that they do that crap at the beginning of their concerts you know like play. I was at one of those concerts and it was awful , not the whole show just the beginning. The interview that they did without Dennis with Dan Rather was very revealing. From what they said they have no intentions of ever playing with Dennis again. Tommy wants to let all this BS go but Dennis just can't do it. I saw an interview that Dennis did on KZbin a few months ago and you can tell he's still very bitter. When the guys wanted to go on tour in 99 Dennis came up with some lame story that he couldn't do it. So I'm fine with the way the band is now and have seen them 3 times and it was great.
