I was ten when that first album came out and I was hooked and still am today. I'm 65 now. Drove my country western parents nuts with them as well as many others lol😂. I do like old school country music too. ❤❤ nice commentary Micheal as always❤❤

As a Brit, I have to say I'm proud of a lot of top bands have come out of our country. But really it's the US that started Rock n Roll, but British bands really took it to a new level. Great video sir..

I have to say I enjoy Led Zeppelin's music more now than when I was in my early 20s. I bought the Grey and Black boxed set of all the albums on CD, and have a few early pressings of the LPs. Easier to hear it and study it on my own.

The first 4 reasons that come to mind? Good Times Bad Times, Babe I'm Gonna Leave You, You Shook Me, and Dazed and Confused. The reasons just kept coming after that.

Definitely the most melodic of the hard rock bands of the 1970s along with deep purple. I like black Sabbath, but they were a distant third when it comes to making a great memorable tune.

Zeppelin’s seed corn was Page and Plant’s love and understanding of blues and folk music. Fortunately for Jimmy, Robert knew of a drummer. Fortunately for ALL of em, John Paul decided that he’d be brought into the fold and work with them. It was an aligning of the planets to say the very least. With Jones came an extensive knowledge of how music operates and his love for Hammond Organ. It was like having two of the four Beatles in one man in your band. They had literally no competition. It was a unique entity, one that I tend to label as: the ultimate unit.

They were the full package including the manager. They had NO weaker member. They were ALL top 3 ever at what they did. No other band gets close to that prodigious and consistent skill

Dear Michael, I enjoyed this video. One of my favorite Led Zeppelin’s songs is, “The Battle of Evermore”. When I listen to this song I hear a softer side of Robert Plant. I also think that Sandy Denny added depth and beauty to the song. They were a great duo. Thanks for sharing. BTW I also agree with your comments on Marvin Gaye and Stevie Wonder. They were both ahead of their time. Peace.

Zeppelin had a mystique unlike any other band which they still have 40+ years later after the band ended. Peter Grant basically laid down the law and the band weren't that accessible either which is a big reason the media disliked them but were popular among tens of millions. They were huge in spite of the media not because of them.

Led Zeppelin never ruled the world. For this to happen, their songs would need to be appealing to everyone, regardless of age, culture and intellectual background. The only band that achieved universal consensus was the Beatles.

Mate, lots of people didnt like the Beatles. They were not loved by everyone. Same with Elvis. No act in the history of music has been loved by all. If everyone loved the Beatles why didn't each album sell billions instead of tens of millions? The Beatles biggest selling album sold about 30 million. That's just 1/10th of the population of the USA alone, nevermind the entire world.

They took songs written by other musicians, and took credit. Those thieves were as laughable as fifties revival clowns, Sha Na Na, Ded Zeppelin's concerts were full of cover material, plus rock n roll medleys, which included such ditties as "Hello Mary Lou" "Blueberry Hill" and "Roll Over Beethoven" in between the songs they officially stole.

Maybe you can possibly say that Robert Plant blossomed as songwriter during his solo career. It is funny that one of his biggest hits was "Sea Of Love", another cover tune with Page in their short lived eighties super group, The Honeydrippers.

Six tunes out of 108. And those medleys were a tribute to their musical heros. They started as a way to extend concerts after the 1st LP came out, as they felt they would be ripping the fans off by only playing for an hour. Unlike the rest of the bands the day. By '73 the medley was cut to one or two, as they had enough material to play 2 to 2.5 hour shows, and in '75 most shows averaged 3.6 hours. Unlike today and even 80s 90s 1.5 hour shows by bands that weren't near as good. And most of what you say they 'stole' were a line or two of lyrics. Robert's fault. I'm sure he thought he was paying Tribute, but you shouldn't take full credit. And they only wound up having to give credit on 4 of those tunes. What about the Beatles? I just watched a video today on KZbin where it was shown they actually stole 13 tunes outright. And there are a lot of other bands, whether they were called out for it or not, such as the Beach Boys and others. Many others. So bleat on about the same old whine about Led Zeppelin, greatest Rock Band of that Era, and still are today. Sure is funny they've sold well over 300 million records. @@williamhiles7404 I've counted way more than six stolen songs. Heck, even with The Yardbirds, Page was "Stealin, stealin" from the Memphis Jug Band on The Yardbirds "Little Games" album. Ded Zeppelin sold well over 300 million albums but failed to pay such artists as Memphis Minnie, Jake Holmes and Spirit. All I ever read is the same old excuses for these thieves. They did long concerts because they were a glorified cover band that dipped into the oldies. Again, they can't be the greatest if they did not write their own material. Yes, I know The Beatles were also called out for plagiarism. The Beach Boys admitted they stole from Chuck Berry, who himself stole all his hits from band member, Johnnie Johnson. Educate yourself, padre.
