Thanks for your feedback! I appreciate the suggestion, but my approach focuses on documenting what’s there as authentically as possible. Hiding number plates isn’t something I plan to do at this stage. I hope you still enjoy the content!

Yes, there are two that come to mind. There is a Spar (www.spar.co.za/home/store-view/superspar-melville-gauteng) opposite May's chemists (www.mayschemists.co.za), and then there is a fairly big shopping centre called Campus Square (www.campussquare.co.za) just up the road.

God the place has changed - not sure for the better! I worked at Barclays National Bank in Randburg 1980/83 .. I see the old premises are now a Pole Dancing "establishment"...Jim Steinmann would weep to see it now & as for Mrs Viljoen & JJ van Vuuren......it's turned into a massive mess which is a shame as it WAS quite a nice place to work. But otherwise, many thanks for the effort of posting these clips!

Paul, Thank you for this video. I came to live in Umhlanga Rocks in 1977 with my parents. We bought a flat in Cordoba flats on Marine Drive. My folks lived in & around Umhlanga until they died in 1999. I left SA for the UK in 1993. I can just about make out some of the buildings along your journey, Oyster Box hotel (our Mecca) & also the Beverley Hills hotel. My folks eventually lived in Villa Pax (next to the Oyster Box). I am slightly overwhelmed by how much it has all changed & grown over the years. I'm 68 now. Please make more of these. It's almost like going home for me. Thanks once again.

That’s Sandown, which is in Sandton, it’s so overbuilt now. Just stupid how they overbuilt it and leave Johannesburg to become a ghetto….
@PMDRIVE1 Жыл бұрын
Thanks for your comment. I’m not sure it is over-built yet. Although there are some great looking buildings, it is no Dubai. I think Sandton is built with private capital. JHB is a reflection of the state of government right now.

It's strange that North America drive on the right-hand side, despite being a former British colony, just as South Africa, which, however, uses left-hand traffic (as Britain). So I guess Ford produces both cars with the driver's seat on the left side (mainly in America and Germany) and on the right side, as Ford produces cars even in South Africa; this year is the 100th anniversary of the founding of Ford of Southern Africa.
