I personally think music is both informed by culture and also informs culture more so the former but the latter shouldn't be disregarded. I don't think rap music is making people do things but it shows what the culture is about. I think the garbage rap with the lyrics it has and the subject matter it has is deeply troubling and I'm not some hardcore religious conservative. It's not just rap but every other genre also more so than any of the time is hyper sexual and hedonistic.
