The video is really helpful but I have a v12 and there are no screws, how to open it ?
@vacuumhelp15 сағат бұрын
@@arditov1 v12 models are a nightmare to open up even I avoid doing it at all. (Not the answer that you wanted to hear I’m sure) Try banging the dust out in the bin as a show and then a brand new filter. Then vacuum the house and take filter out to make sure it’s still clean (clean if needed) and then you may be ok. Tap the cyclone everytime you enmity and it may never happen again. Failing all of this. Ask around if any friends have a compressor to blast the dust out with compressed air. (Mechanics always have them) I do hope that you get sorted and don’t have to buy a new body from dyson. Jonny

This was helpful. It's lucky for me I happen to have a torx T8 lying around - I suspect this is not the case for many people. Not sure why they did that. Also, I had to sort of squeeze the runner onto the sleeve part with the two screws before it "snapped" into place. Not sure why but it was sitting out approx 1mm before I did this and was not seated properly even though it was in the correct place with the torx screw and the cyclone was also snug up against the vacuum. After it snapped into proper position I was able to put the two rear screws in last.
@vacuumhelp3 күн бұрын
@@unkzzz thank you for your comment. I do have to agree with the torque screw thing. Dyson and Shark both use them and I dare say that it is so most people give up at the first hurdle and buy a new vacuum 😡
@vacuumhelp3 күн бұрын
@@unkzzz oh also on the squeezing part. I think I know what you mean. Sometimes when you slide the cyclone back on it can be sat out of line (anyone one reading this I apologise for my lack of warning on the video) Just slide it off again and when you are sliding back on concentrate on the bin runner being perfectly in line with the part that it slides into. Like our friend here says it somehow just doesn’t sit right being 1mm out and the clone doesn’t seem to just come together perfectly. this ok would also cause issues with the bin being difficult to slide off if force it all together. My bad. I’m still learning from my errors of video production. It’s also sometime hard to describe what you do as second nature sometimes. Thank you for pointing this out

I had no idea that there was an engine inside. I soaked it in soap water all night. Now engine still works but makes a load and strange sound. maybe because the oil in the engine is washed out and now too dry?
@vacuumhelp6 күн бұрын
@@ershadramezani6716firstly I can’t believe it’s still working as such. Electrical motors are seriously sensitive to any moisture at all. The copper contacts and the bearings inside instantly take a dislike to it. They have to be microscopically smooth and water causes them not to be. No oil involved as electric doesn’t like that either. Sorry to hear of your predicament. You can buy new ones for £50-60 online

Thanks for your info on this! I tried this method several times with moderate success, but eventually, if not on the first vacuum, (after applying the method), then the subsequent vacuum...the hose would detach again! Shame I cannot add an image, but........the sure fire way that keeps the hose attached to the body, is to use HEAVY DUTY GREY DUCT TAPE. Buy it from any DIY store. After connecting the hose and fitting to the body of the vacuum, (as you explain)...you then wrap the duct tape around the fitting and for 6 inches or so up and around the hose as well. My Henry hose has not detached since I have done this...(over a year ago!). Thanks! ED

Hi Jonny, my DC25 switch is slightly different to yours. The grey brush button doesn’t have any resistance (no spring acting upon it), both the springs that you show are fitted, but there isn’t the metal clip that fits over the two buttons. Any ideas ?
@vacuumhelp10 күн бұрын
@@4Cornerstube oddly some don’t have the metal part so dont be too concerned with that. When fitted the grey brush bar switch cover should press down onto the switch inside feeling a click on and off. If it’s not doing this, is the switch itself clicking on and off ok without the cover on?
@4Cornerstube10 күн бұрын
Exactly that, switching the switch with out the cover switches the roller bar on and off. As soon as the cover is fitted the grey button does not move up or down.
@vacuumhelp10 күн бұрын
@ ok I’ll try and help the way I can. 1. The grey switch inside, the lowest part is a curved shape. Is that ok? Not bork e or misshapen? Could it be CAREFULLY bet down slightly push the switch further down by just a fraction? 2. If you swap the actual switches around, using the power switch for the brush and the brush switch for the power…. Do they both behave then? I’ve had this before on some repairs when’re the switch seems fine but doesn’t behave with the cover and changing the switch for a brand new one worked. I’ve also opened some up before that have a little layer of electrical tape over the top of the actual switch… which must have been someone’s way of making the cover press down better on the switch. Annoying one I know and I hope I’m helping
