I still don't see anything wrong with SBMM. Getting matched with players near your own skill level is only logical, why would you want to have players either leagues above or below you in the same lobby? Effortlessly dunking on randoms that basically play like toddlers mashing their keyboard is not fun - hasn't been in the past and it isn't now, it's like armwrestling a baby and declaring yourself champ. Getting railed on the flipside ain't fun either. And the whole "sweat" thing is a complete non-issue made up by people who suck at the game they are playing and can't get themselves to face reality. You play to win - at least I do - that doesn't make you/me/whatever "sweaty" in any way, that's just human nature. Who plays to lose? It's just blaming the game and the community for yourself being trash at the game - whichever one that is atm. If you wanna mindlessly shoot at things without any competition then play bot lobbies or singleplayer stuff like Doom or Wolfenstein.

Honestly I think its just cheats. When Apex Legends released as a surprise without a beta or announcement it took the cheat developers 2 weeks to get the first cheats out. In that first two week period, it felt like the pub lobbies of old. Then when the cheats launched, overnight like a switch, everyone could suddenly aim. The Tarkov expose provides excellent evidence of this as well. We don't have that old-school magical feeling because of cheaters, not because of players getting 'sweatier'.

You know what makes people feel like they are progressing in skill. Ranked ladders with sbmm. Cs has done it for years fighting games do it overwatch leauge. And in all of these games people dont complain about sbmm they complain about smurfs who are playing bad on purpose to get easier games and stomp. The problem is not and never has been sbmm the problem is that people have no good way to track progress
@Briggetchu25
@Briggetchu25 Күн бұрын
With sbmm people will complain it ruins progression, without people will complain that everyone who bought the game 1 nanosecond before them has had so much more time and they have no way to catch up, no sbmm is good for the good players bad for the bad players, on top of this, it protects the ego of the ok players who think they're getting wrecked because the opponent is trying too hard but sbmm matched them up against them, and not that they're genuinely just better than you, so overall it's good for games, but that doesn't mean it doesn't have its downsides

As an older CoD player I just have to say this. The Omnimovement is fine if you don't treat it like a classic CoD game. I think that's the main issue here. I'm an OG player got all max level etc yada yada CoD 4, WaW, MW2, b01, MW3 maxed them all on multiplayer had decent kd gold guns etc and I think I last quit at B02. This is the first CoD I've got on launch day since B02 which is a while ago now, and even now only got this new game mainly because of zombies. But when I went online I felt all the same things at the start that were talked about in this video... however after playing more of it and getting used to the omnimvement I feel it plays nicely. After I stopped expecting it to be like CoD games from back 10 - 15 years ago and go around the map on 25 killstreak rampages, I found I enjoyed B06 more, even if I am getting my ass handed to me by people zooming around diving and sliding each turn barley even able to get UVs or helis nowadays :). Don't get me wrong if a new cod came out like the OGs it would be amazing but the modern cods arn't actually as bad as I thought they were going to be.

Even its name is a painful reminder - every time i hear "overwatch 2" i am reminded of how they swindled everyone with the pve mode that never came. Now the monetization is reaching levels of greed that are truly alarming.

I was a beast at halo 3. Not joking. I could of gone pro. … A little joking. Lol. But I was better than average. Now I am awful. At all shooters. I’m only 30 but having the camera sensitivity up confuses me, my mind wonders as I play, when I get in tricky situations my mind just goes blank. The sweat is just gone. And the interest to be sweaty is definitely gone. For me, getting older and more tired just made me a lot worse at video games. But that’s fine cuz I just want to escape reality. Not compete. The real issue is sweats playing casual instead of ranked. And noobs playing ranked. Maybe we need one more game mode that is sweaty causal. But in the end it’s the people. Sweats play casual for the easy win. The entire reason for smerf accounts in games like LoL. People just want to stomp on noobs to feel like Gods. But fighting AI bots in training mode isn’t enough cuz you can’t make AI cry.

As with all sports, overtime the general skill level increases. They have to keep fucking with the javelin every couple decades so that people don't throw it so far that it endangers the spectators. Also baseball is having issues with people throwing the ball way fast.

I’d argue that a lot of it comes down to the mechanics of the games themselves. Just look at how fast cod is now compared to mw2. It’s incredibly fast running speed compared to before which fundamentally changes the whole experience. Never mind gunplay changes that make guns even easier to handle etc etc.

So here’s an example you guys never heard of. EA Battlefront 2. I bought it right around Christmas Time years after it came out. A few months later it was Playstation Plus Free. Boooy! I had almost every important character maxed out at that point. I was going on 200 kill streaks with General Grievous. Also similar levels with Yoda. For the next few weeks. And then when everyone had level up i was at like 20-50 kill streaks. The best time to play a shooter is when it comes out and Christmas time. Thats about it

It feels like nowadays every guy that plays a multiplayer game has 10 tabs opened researching what is the current meta. Noticed this especially in Warzone where every week the lobbies were filled with guys rocking the same weapon all of a sudden, but also from Dota where even the low mmr lobbies try their hardest to pretend they are pro players

As a fighting game player can someone explain it to me in child terms why do shooter players seem to hate like the skilled movement or like skill denforation with ssbm.
@Yeags
@Yeags 5 күн бұрын
All I was saying in this video is that Call of Duty becoming a movement shooter has changed the way the game plays and the map design. The fact that movement has increased the skill gap is not the problem - the problem is that the gameplay feel has fundamentally changed. It would be like if Mortal Kombat abandoned its flat stages in favor of Smash’s multi-leveled layered stages and added all this vertical movement to the game - it would change the gameplay feel of MK

part of it is big gamemaking companies only care about esports. there's an immense casual market out there but as long as they keep selling competative shit, no one's gonna realise. even tf2 fell due to this - the game's community servers were reworked to fit Valve's csgo-wannabe casual server model and the game is all the worse for it as now you get randomly matched instead of being able to stick to a server and play with and for the same people there

In regards to SBMM, the only people who should want it to not exist are the sweatiest players. If you want to experiment with weird loadouts you can in SBMM, you might have a really bad game or two but then because of the aggressiveness of the system you will be matched with other players who are either messing around with weird stuff or are worse than you which will let you have an enjoyable experience with whatever you want to be doing.

Part of it is better shared information. Back in the 80s and early 90s, you didn't have internet. You couldn't watch someone on youtube give advice on games. You couldn't search for walktrhough tips on your favorite RPG. Its the spread of information. There's always been the quest for information. Nintendo Power was what you had prior to the internet. That, and maybe friends or kids at school telling you about secret levels, codes, and cheats in games. Are people "better" at games? Well, yes. Stuck on a boss? Watch someone else do the fight so you can understand it. We have the capability to learn from others. That makes us all better gamers.

What about... tactics+skill based matchmaking? find a way to track player actions, and use that to match players with teammates that do similar things to encourage strategical play? use skill based matchmaking to find an enemy team? maybe a dumb idea, but it's something

Validating the young to create an audience is a very popular and manipulative strategy right now! We had South Korean MMO's, we understand multiplicative, cumulative, and additive RPG Math, by just looking. We had the reinvigoration of the cabnet fighter, Virtua Fighter, MVC, Capcom VS SNK, Dead or Alive - Expert level fighters, not entry level fighters like Streetfighter and Tekken. Hell we even got scammed better than them with subscription models instead of Gacha.

imo no sbmm is just not fun for anyone, in my time playing xdefiant i constantly won and just dumpstered every lobby. and tbh after the 5th game i was bored of it, games arent fun if its too one sided for either party no one enjoys getting shit on, and atleast i dont like shitting on helpless children who dont have 10s of thousand of hours into fps games. if u have a team of 5 people and 2 are complete noobs and 3 are good players, vice versa for the other team it just feels shit all around, the good players effectively have a 3v3 with mosquitos nearby so the mosquitos arent having fun since they are likely 0/10 and the good players are having atbest a meh time since only every other gun fight is even a fair fight. but then the good players go "why are we losing tf? im 30/2" and press tab and see their teamates are fuckin 0/20 combined and its just a bad time overall. im sure theres a better solution than what we have now in sbmm but xdefiant really showed me that no sbmm just isnt it
