This is my no1 album of all time. The 1st song, immediately from the very first few bars, makes you suspect that you're in for the Experience of a Lifetime. And the suspicion turns into a conviction 70+ minutes later.

@richardcook4260 awesome! I was a countertenor...played rugby professionally for 15 years in England(I'm from South africa) and after retirement sang for a friend who thought I should pursue it. I did...and in 2013 came to US to start studying. Sang for a bit had cancer in 2020 and several surgeries later left me with damaged vocal chords. So now I just listen to others. I am so happy to share my fondness for the countertenor voice

That's it, I am subscribing! You have to play her TOOL's "Wings For Marie (part 1)" and "10,000 (Wings part 2)". Better have some tissue boxes ready because it's about is mother's suffering and her passing. Also, TOOL's song "Jimmy" ties into this 2 part masterpiece and in one of the other two bands that Maynard fronts: A. P. C. & Puscifer, A Perfect Circle's song, "Judith" (for Judith Marie) also is related to that 2 part song -- though from a much different perspective and a much different fame of mind.

It's been disputed whether he says a piece or a peace to cross him over. I feel like Maynard likes to be ambiguous in a lot of his lyrics. Another song he sings either Son or Sun etc

the double meanings hidden throughout are certainly the mark of a true master lyricist (Maynard)

Great video guys, tool are the best, I adore them and have only really gotten into them over the last 5 or 6 years. I loved your interpretation. I know the greek for spirit / life force is pneuma, I am also aware that it means to breath in modern medical terminology. So I guess they were going for the homonym, to keep people guessing or meaning both as maynard uses both breath and spirit in his lyrics. I am fully Tool army nowadays! I listen to them constantly, much to the chagrin of my work mates lol.

Study the works and philosophy of Carl Jung and it will make a lot more sense. Many think 46&2 refers to our chromosomal makeup and adding 2 more chromosomes to evolve to the next level.

This is the most advanced album IMO. I think you should not touch this album until after you've gone thru most of their discography. She'll have a much fuller breadth of listener appreciation that way. I'd go with The Grudge next. And try to keep it to maybe 2 songs a week. So she isn't overwhelmed. Mondays and Fridays? Just some suggestions. Spiral Out!

Oh, she definitely gets TOOL. Her insights were on point, and her appreciation for the way they fit the music is exactly what a true fans appreciates. Subscribing to watch her absorb this great band. And I disagree with your assessment that she will dislike 75% of their music. I'm tempted to say she'll LOVE 100% of it. Do The Grudge next. With lyrics. She will definitely appreciate the message in that song.
