I'd venture to say that by the end, she'll probably love 95% of Tool's content.
@PongGod12 күн бұрын
I think you may be short-selling the young lady by saying she may only like 25% of Tool's music. Based on her reaction here, I think she will enjoy at least 50% of their work, possibly much more. She seems like one who appreciates thoughtful lyrics and Tool has that in spades! I think Parabol/Parabola and Reflection would be a couple of great choices to share with her soon.

I regret my hasty remark... I think she was genuinely shocked by both the lyrical depth and amazing musicianship

Let’s show her more! There are definitely some other Tool songs she’d enjoy. I think Schism would land well (especially with the lyrics up).

Their lyrics are most generally quite deep and thought provoking. They approach very serious subjects with raw emotion and masterful musicianship!! Each song being its own soundscape of the emotions they're trying to capture. Everything they do is purposeful, nothing is left to chance. Their writing process is somewhat unique as well. Once a composition is basically complete the band will only then send it to Maynard (Singer) for him to write the lyrics. He will listen to each composition for weeks or sometimes months in order to absorb it and allow the lyrics to be drawn out. His voice is usually fairly low in the production mix as well, he uses it as another instrument of the band instead of a louder and 'out-in-front' approach like most bands. throw a dart at their 30 plus year discography and you hit a masterpiece every time! Sub'd for more Tool !

Great reaction! Became my fave Tool song for a very, very long time. With the introduction of "angels" as observers to God's work, it grants us permission through them to question God's work... As we as humans are told we're unable to question God's divine law/s. Bring in more! I like the thought provoking stuff. Like Parabol/a. Good call on the lyrics.

Oh, she definitely gets TOOL. Her insights were on point, and her appreciation for the way they fit the music is exactly what a true fans appreciates. Subscribing to watch her absorb this great band. And I disagree with your assessment that she will dislike 75% of their music. I'm tempted to say she'll LOVE 100% of it. Do The Grudge next. With lyrics. She will definitely appreciate the message in that song.

That's it, I am subscribing! You have to play her TOOL's "Wings For Marie (part 1)" and "10,000 (Wings part 2)". Better have some tissue boxes ready because it's about is mother's suffering and her passing. Also, TOOL's song "Jimmy" ties into this 2 part masterpiece and in one of the other two bands that Maynard fronts: A. P. C. & Puscifer, A Perfect Circle's song, "Judith" (for Judith Marie) also is related to that 2 part song -- though from a much different perspective and a much different fame of mind.

Parabol, Parabola would be a nice follow-up, Wings for Marie pt.1 and 2, Schism, Vicarious, Descending, Eulogy, The list is endless.
