Looking at Ford and GM; outside of the Coyote 5.0/5.2L Eights, OHC and multivalve versions have proven to be basically junk and discontinued. The Ford Godzilla series is OHV with the cam back in the block.

The comment about the R90s having overheating issues is BULL SHIT! I rode mine in DEATH VALLEY in June of 1975 without any over heating, furthermore for this video to include the BMW R90s is simply INSULTING

About the 750 H2, I see a error. The one with the sudden power were the 500H1, especially the first ones(69 and 70 models), not the 750 which is “reasonably” linear. Yes, it’s far from the Kettle Suzuki, but quite usable. I still own two 750s and it’s been 45+ years they are with me… Btw, the title of widowmaker comes from the very first 750s in 1972, which did not have the connecting bar at the bottom front of the frame in front of engine and it would brake under heavy load. There are many other very strange and uneducated remarks, particularly about Guzzi and BMW R90S which I happen to own as well.

lol yup another idiot posting what motorcycles are bad and not having a clue what he is making for video . probably saw a picture of one in a magazine his dad had and figures i know whats going to be wrong with that, and you go off track you said ENGINES not every other component. on the cycles atleast learn what engine photo to put up with your comments and a few of these i owned for motorcycles and you are way way off base and clueles, and dang i want to get my hands on that 530 CIBIC INCH yami ha ha ha . As for the gl 1000 i never had a single issue with mine and that bike right now sold it to neighbors boy and last i knw it was still ticking with 102,000 miles on it so other then the normal work you would need at 100k miles its never had any major faults this idiot claims. as for the CZ it was made for one purpose pure flat out wide open hang on motocross racing, and get realistic you are 1000% clueless on the BMW at its time 1973 to 1976 it was good and had good power for its day and i have had numerous BMW and never ever had a single overheating issue. and too funny talking about susuki and wheelie on the motocross ace version bike and tossing up a photoe of a KTM 525. Surprised you missed ripping the Yamaha XS1100 and didnt add it to list because when tuned proper just pure over powered for the average rider 11 seconf 1/4miles yes easy - fast yes 130mph plus no problem, lol go into a corner and get on the throttle and the rear of the bike lifted because of the drive shaft geometry . or maybe add the mv agusta 750s because it was flat out something you wouldnt be able to figure out to pick apart without flat out bull S

The Kawasaki H2 , had only ONE FAULT; SWING Arm bushings , with a 100 km half life !! When failing made the bike very hard to control , the rest is lousy riders !! I raced them , when as Erv Kanemoto built good frame they became mindbogglingly good !!

I was mostly honda mechanic/ Service manager rom 69 to 79. GL never had the issues described.. They'd go 100000 easy. They needed cam belts every 40K, Some had issues with the alternator dying after many miles.. Only issue with the carbs was the slides needed cleaning if the motor breather routed to the air box. CX500 had issues with early cam tensioners and radiator fan rattling (mounted on end of camshaft) 24 MPG on a H2? Heck my 76 Honda MR250 and 73 400 CZ only got about that. @ smokes weren't known for mileage. Still I know a guy that went between LA and DC 3 times on a Kawasaki H1.

Don't know about the other bikes but the bit about BMW R90s is complete BS. I had one from new and kept it for thirteen years. The only fault I could find was the starter motor being too high geared or the battery too small. Cooling was never a problem. Anyone with half a brain knows to switch off the engine if being stationary for a long period.

The Pontiac Iorn Duke was 151 cubic inches, not 115. Several of the engines mentioned were extremely reliable. The Yugo was discontinued because of the fall of the Country of Yugoslavia.

No, nothing wrong with any of the mentioned Honda. The 90s was a bit slow in a world where BMW was slow but reliable forever. Yamaha 250/350 were legend here in the UK. Yes it holed pistons but doing it set the boy apart from the men. I could go on but leave other makes to those that rode them in the day.

This video is mostly a crock of crap. I owned several of these motorcycles, and rode a LOT of miles with friends that owned some others. Yeah, they all had occasional problems - just like any other motorcycle. But, they weren't the pieces of junk - well, most of them - that this video claims. For instance: 1. Victory V92C. I owned one - a '92 V92 TC. Yes, it had a LOT of problems - but other than abysmal gas mileage, none of them were with the engine. On the highway? It pulled like a freight train - just not very far. All the bike's troubles were with the brakes (it ATE rear break pads; a set every couple hundred miles) and a clutch cable the size of a 10-speed bicycle's derailleur shift cable. It was on it's 4th one - after 8,000 miles - when I got rid of it... 2. The Ducati's and the Moto Guzzi's. I owned an '86 Ducati Pantah. Yes, it was a "Hangar Queen", because of it's penchant for suddenly running on one cylinder - but never the same one twice in a row. All those Italian bikes - and autos - suffered from the Italian government's stubborn insistence that EVERYTHING had to be made in Italy. And there are some things that Italy just does not do very well - like electrical stuff; motorcycle carbs; and gauges. Weber carbs are about the best there are, but... well, you damn well better know what you're doing if you're going to even touch them. Don't ask me how I know... When they stopped that "all Italian" nonsense in the mid 1990's, Ducati's and Moto Guzzi's - and every other Italian bike - got MUCH better. I imagine the cars did, too... 3. BMW. I've had 4 of them - and 3 were Boxer Twins. No, the street versions were not horsepower monsters; the weren't supposed to be. My '82 R100, which had been turned into an R100 Sport Tourer, weighed almost nothing; had about 78 HP; and would go down the highway at an indicated 110 mph - ALL DAY LONG. And did, more than once... Other than an annoying, occasional fuel leak from the left side Bing carburetor, and a speedometer that had occasional, squealing fits? Never had a problem with the bike - much less the engine. Or the engines of my R90, or my R1150 GS Adventure... Honda Goldwing and CX500. The original Goldwing's only real problem, was with people using the same antifreeze that they put in their car - which was not compatible with an aluminum engine - or the water pump. Nobody I ever knew that had one - and maintained it properly - had a bit of trouble with the thing. As for the CX500? Same thing. I had a friend who had one; we rode all over the Western USA together for 2 years. He never had the slightest problem keeping up with my tricked-out-for-Sport Touring '80 Honda CBX 1100, either. That CX500 ran like a Rolex watch... As for the other bikes? Yeah; everybody I knew that owned one of them, had... problems. The Suzuki Wankel? Well... Suzuki's own motorcycle book doesn't even mention them - at all. That Harley? Well... the AMF era was NOT Harley's brightest hour. I owned two Harleys from that period; they were... relatively... trouble free, but... you had to wrench on them regularly. The 2 strokes? Yeah, the Kawi H2 was a dangerous bike; I had 2 acquaintances wind up in the hospital, after those things tried to kill them. The dirt bikes? Big 2-stroke singles have never been a good idea. The RD 350? If you maintain them right, they're... OK; if you like that sort of thing. But, I used to eat them for lunch - on twisty roads - with a Honda CB450 K5. The other bikes? I couldn't say; never had one - or knew anybody that did. But, bike from the period this video is lagging on? None of them were exactly "ride and forget" machines. Do the maintenance when you're supposed to? No problems. Don't do it - you'll regret it - a lot...
@bonesrhodes37623 күн бұрын
well of course the SC500 was problematic - what would you expect from a 530 cubic inch 2 stroke single ? it didn't have an electric starter and you had to own an elephant to kick start it - couple that with an engine that constantly morphed into various configurations including 2 cylinder 4 strokes and had a carb which moved all over the place

Been riding motorcycles and following the industry 50 years. Very little accuracy here. Flashing a lot of pictures of bikes other than the ones you are talking about. Rick Sieman was the editor of Dirt Bike Magazine 50 years ago. Great writer. Very funny. If he’s still alive he’s got to be well into his 80’s.

My sister has had both the Honda CX 500 and the Yamaha Virago 750. She says they were not bad, if all you wanted to do was strolling around and seeing places. I've had some bad experiences with "small block" Moto Guzzi - a V35 III which went through ignition units like they were disposable, and a Nevada 750 which was impossible to fine tune and was very rough for a 48HP engine (and had a problem with back wheel bearings). Before those, I had a Benelli 250 2C (also sold as Moto Guzzi), with a 2-stroke engine badly copied from Yamaha: power range laser thin, gas guzzler, smoke factory (4% oil mix). Luckily, at least I never had the infamous Moto Guzzi V35 Imola II, with its 4-valves engine which broke valves like they were made of glass. A friend of mine had one, and in 30,000 km he had to rebuild the engine seven times.
