I found this discussion deeply frustrating. Alex O’Connor came across as overly confident and dismissive, projecting an air of arrogance that detracted from any genuine pursuit of truth. It’s disappointing to see such an important dialogue reduced to posturing rather than a balanced exchange of ideas. As for Dr. Collins, while his achievements in decoding the human genome are monumental, it was baffling that he failed to connect this profound accomplishment with the deeper existential questions at the heart of the discussion. His insights could have offered a much-needed bridge between science and faith, but instead, it felt like a missed opportunity. Overall, what could have been a thoughtful and transformative conversation ended up feeling shallow and unproductive. A real shame, given the potential of these two individuals to contribute meaningfully to the dialogue between science and religion.

The insistence of Alex on 'constrains on God's creative power' is ridiculous. It is like when you are confronted with a powerful argument you resort to an obsessive/false and unsolvable objection/problem. This is not the mark of a great mind.

Wow, this is so deep, thank you. It goes way beyond porn and the industry, and helps unpack what many of us end up doing for money and why. Also, how we are left affected longer term by our actions.

How can you say religion is not bad? Religion is necessarily bad because it's based on false premises. Religion sabotages the mind it tries to undercut an individual's reasoning ability with divine revelation

ancient man was not inherently monogamous. he became that way because of the economy of children. that said I relate to the theologian who was destroyed by sex without love and committment. that may have become part of our dna through culture over time. there are studies that indicate married gay men go looking for other partners after 5 years of marriage (need citation). this may be just pure nature. interesting discussion.

Not all voices in your head are God. We as Christians have his word - the Bible along with the Holy Spirit to discern right from wrong. If the voice doesnt line up with Gods word - stay away.

I think Alex’s problem is his mind is always on the physical but has no spiritual lens. He can only see what’s right in front of him if that makes sense. I remember the day my eyes were opened to the mystery and complexity of the spiritual realm and how intertwined it is to the physical material world. I mean, scientists are claiming they discovered the existence of the 5th dimension. We are so limited as humans even at our highest form of earthly intelligence. I just want to add I have huge respect for alex

Another thought - God choosed to make things hard way, because there was no other choice. So who is god in the end - God or circumstances?
@gabrielhaskins705

God is confined to the nature of God himself, he can change his mind not his nature is what the Bible seems to elude to. There are spiritual laws, God is the same he does not change. Bottom line is and Francis says this in the beginning. We’re not meant to understand or able to comprehend all this.. the mystery of God is evident, but so is his existence imo “therefore man has no excuse” -Paul. so Alex O’Connor I don’t think will ever find the exact answers he’s looking for here on this earth. I think we need to stop bringing God down to our level and understand we need to revere or exalt his level

each to their own bro. stop pushing the evolutionary programming of socialization which ensures cooperation and survival of the species. we don't need to do it that way anymore. if there is a shift its towards delving deeper into ones self through being alone. never mind the i exist only because of how others see me dung.

It's funny - God believers talk about flowers, how beautiful their are and how good smell they produce, they never describe, how beautiful is and how nice smells a poop. Is poop less important than a flower?

It feels ironic how he talks “it’s a job”. No feeling no emotion with the performer but yet when working on gay porn the industry shuns him for doing a job with males. There is something more behind the story that he is not telling. He says once they find out “I crossed over to the other side” the stopped calling me, texting me” how ironic is the industry that would judge a performer. When in the end this is just a job, you are not having sex of the cameras with these individuals. To me there is a double standard where perhaps 🤔 performers might be rather “Homophobic” and judgemental towards someone having sex on the job with someone of the same sex. Even though he is clearly saying I am a hetero. Just doing it for the money. 😮

The woman who sleep with him are proof that not all girls are fit for stable monogamous relationships. Some just want casual encounters and want to retire with a cat when they are unable to find any solid man to stay by their side long term.

He’s articulate, and he seems to try to be sensitive, but he is clearly homophobic. He states that gay porn was his lowest point. If a sex act is transactional to begin with, then why is one form of sex more shameful or traumatic than another.
@krystaljelle

Because of the social stigma that would come with it, especially in that time. I think you’re really underestimating how different things were 10-15 years ago when it comes to the LGBTQIA+ community. That does not make him homophobic, it’s actually an appropriate way for him to feel as a STRAIGHT man doing gay p*** at that time.

I can relate when she says it was an easy way out to do porn and OF but it was also selfish, as in selfish making bad decisions and ruining future options for employment or a husband. I can relate, i was selfish but that was not porn, i slept with a lot of women and abused drugs for over 25 yrs. I ruined so many options for my future self.

Why can’t we just say we don’t know who the creator is but we do know it’s not that monster in the Bible. Surely out of all the gods in the world we could find a more stable one than the one in the bible.
