Hope you have a wonderful Turkey Day, Tegan. Thank you for always bringing the positive and focusing on introducing new systems and being a strong member of this community. Really appreciate all your hard work and analysis. Picking up the One Ring on deep discount this weekend thanks in part to your coverage of Symbaroum and the way Free League presents their products. Pathfinder remaster has a humble bundle now
@CaluardoКүн бұрын
I checked and it's mostly pre-remaster stuff, but Player Core and GM Core are included in it
@matthewsnow-zj1cu23 сағат бұрын
Some really nice flipmat and adventure path support too. If you only care about trying out the remaster $30 odd dollars is a good deal.

This system looks great. My big question is that is there enough in terms of power advancement or new toys to make levelling up varied enough to keep more min max type of players invested?
@TeganJGaming3 күн бұрын
There's a ton in power advancement. The nice thing with the system is that it's not linear & through point buy players can either enhance their current kit. Or add on crazy new powers at each level up. With the system you can go all the way from an average guy to Dragonball Z easily
@theblindjedi413 күн бұрын
@ thanks for clarifying. Might look into it more throughly.

@ thanks for letting me know. One other thing I would ask is if you use grid maps for the combat.
@TeganJGaming2 күн бұрын
@@theblindjedi41 Everyone runs that a bit differently. I tried Grids but the hard thing is that most heroes will have crazy speed that can't really fit a grid. I usually opt for theater of the mind since building huge maps wouldn't be fun

One of the criticisms I find is how the Ranger roles try to push your character into being like one of the Mighty Morphin' cast, even when other teams use different Ranger colour compositions from MMPR: Red: Leader (Jason) Blue: Tech expert (Billy) Black: Heart of the team (Zack) Pink: Sharpshooter (Kimberley) Yellow: Tactician (Trini) Green: Lone wolf (Tommy) I'm sure the other Ranger colours like Gold or Purple have different team roles associated with them, too, but the core rules only focus on the main six MMPR team members (with the White Ranger also apparently an upgrade to the Green Ranger, which even more tries to squeeze the Green Ranger characters into playing like Tommy) Maybe it's just me, but the Ranger Spectrum dictates a little too much about how your character should be played in contrast to the personality choices you make during earlier steps in character creation, especially when there are examples all through the franchise of characters with personalities that don't adhere strictly to the Spectrum traits - not to say it's bad to have your characters share an association with particular Ranger colours, just a little too rigid if you want to play a character that's a particular Ranger colour but not that particular role in the team. I dunno, maybe it could just be treated as a soft rule where it's GM's discretion whether it matters or not to the game.

Nice review. This system definitely intrigues me. One of the things that haven’t liked of other superhero rpgs is how there isn’t a lot of room to grow I.e. get more powerful powers, new shiny toys, etc. in your opinion do you think the advancement system gives a lot for people to play with in terms of mechanical growth.

Good to know the tweaks Free League made work well for the setting. Year Zero is a flexible system to begin with. It's nice to see them lean into it.

One of my favourite game developers/publishers, and happy this worked so well, but not a world or genre for me. I bounced off the show way back & never looked at it again. Just send me to explore Davokar, roam through Middle Earth, hunt aliens on LV-426, or even LA during a Replicant uprising - those are my worlds to explore.

I do one thing different, on COUP DE GRÂCE you do not gain stress if its a hostile creature like a xeno, though a Freak of your friend, or a pet or animal you like would same as a human. Stress can get out of hand fast, which is fine but there is enough with a xeno to not add that part to it and it makes sense killing a wounded "Bug" would not stress you out more than the seeing it in the first place and rest it likely did. Not sure if its meant to just be human and creatures you might care about like a dog, but I feel it was meant to exclude Xeno's and most Neo's like squishing a Nasty Spider, or Scorpion.

Been playing this game and I think a lot of reviewers are really taking things to the extreme because of their personal agendas. For me, it's been a fun game so far, but doesn't stand out too much in any category, feeling like a 7/10 experience, but I am actually liking it more as I play. I agree with you about the tone, it's a bit too "pleasant" in general - I think it could do with more of the dark fantasy edge you mentioned.

A couple of lessons from what I like about Veilguard (so far) - A behind-the-scenes tease is a fun way to get your playes intrigued about what the villains are up to. The most tempting loot is one that can make your PCs change up their playstyle or build around it. Working with your PCs to tie their backstory closely to the main conflict increases their investment in the conflict. (For example, Neve and Lucanis have a lot more direct investment in the main plot than Leliana and Zevran did in Origins.) --- I do agree about the excessive handholding. I hope they patch it out and give me a chance to actually solve some puzzles myself. I've been fine with the tone of the world and villain plot (seems fairly dragon age-y to me), but I do miss the options for making evil (or just petty) choices. So, I only agree with the charge of disneyfication when it comes to Rook's options. We'll see how things go past act 1.

Love the Xmen FULL STOP but the game is not great. It lacks alot, character abilities and powers are my biggest issues. Explain this one to me, Captain America is a lvl 4, JUGGERNAUT is also lvl 4. 😅 and the whole MARVEL abilities M melee A agility R resistance V vigilance E ego L logic. Wtf is strength? A key ability to many heroes ie the Hulk.
@brake232013 күн бұрын
Nothing stops you from changing the levels! That's the fun of this game, they said it themselves "feel free to change things up". And strenght, well...thats melee in this game I guess 😅

Love the new series! Your channel is amazing for introducing people to new games and I think this series really adds value to that. One thing, it might be better to have your camera as an inset over the full screen of the demiplane capture. Otherwise the capture gets squashed and especially on mobile it creates a very messy aspect. You could even turn your camera off and just have audio; ultimately people are watching the build anyway.
