Got mine for Fathers Day in 2016. Best table saw I have ever owned. The foot pedal to lift and lower the saw is at the front of the saw not the side and is easy to use. Yes it does klunk when you lower it. The fence is accurate every time I use it. Dialing in the 90 degree and 45 degree were easy and have not wavered from the first set. Good video.

If you let that riving knife lever tighten to the point where it takes another tool to operate it, you are risking breaking that bolt. It's easy to fix. Remove the back panel. Lower the blade to line up the access hole with the nut on the backside of the lever bolt. One of the blade wrenches has a cut-out that fits the lever bolt on the blade side. Hold it and insert a 1/2 inch socket through the hole and loosen the nut by 1/4 - 1/2 turn. Depending on use , I have to loosen that nut about once per year to keep the lever working easily.
@BrettsWoodshop2 күн бұрын
Thanks for that. My problem is that my outfeed table is attached to the access panel. It would be a pain in the rump to remove and replace. I’ll address it when I build my new outfeed table.

Fantastic work. By the way, as you speack portugues, the word "Jatobá", as it´s reating in portuguese is an oxytone word, and the strong syllable is the last one. So we say "jatobÁ".

So, did you use...... wait for it..... Black Jac Shellac? 😂😂😂. Couldn't resist! Regarding all of the imperfections that you said would have been better if done with a CNC. I disagree. Yes, they are a magnificent woodworking tool. The thing is, is that it would not be hand made, it'd be machined out. This gameboard is only going to appreciate over time and those slight imperfections are what makes it special. Not machined. 😊😊😊

Hey Brett, balling on a budget here. I already have a lot of non-gel stain and polyurethane; do you think I could achieve the same result with that, or should I invest in gel stain and shellac?
@BrettsWoodshop14 күн бұрын
Hey Grayden, great question! I think the shellac is clutch because it penetrates the pores in the wood. Polyurethane just kinda sits on top. I think you’d be okay with liquid stain if you treated with shellac first. Then use the poly as a topcoat. Sand some scrap of the same material to the same level as your finished project and test it out on the scrap first. Let me know how that works out!
@guyh.455315 күн бұрын
All very good comments. One thing I do is when I layover 1 piece of paper to the extension paper, whichever piece of paper that will be on top, I trim it down to the border like is on this one. That way, it is much easier to align the marriage markers and is much more seemless. Thats how I do it when making one large map from multiple maps.

Great value. Bought mine new for $349 about 10 years ago. Smooth running, good cast deck , poor fence, poor fence rails but they still work but not to what I would consider a professional level. I’ve been considering a new fence and rails. That would elevate this saw to a whole different level.

I totally agree! I can’t wait to pull the trigger on a new fence system.

If I wanted to have a two tone wood color with two shades of stain; should I put down the lighter stain all over first, shellac then tape off the parts of the lighter stain i want to keep light, then do the darker stain? is there another way you'd recommend? i have a 60~80 year old console table with a beautiful wood inlay; I want to preserve the two-tone aspect of it but try to make the whole thing darker. Thanks for posting.
@BrettsWoodshop16 күн бұрын
Oof! That’s a tricky one! I don’t think you’d be able to stain through the shellac, if that’s what you’re asking. I would ask your question on the Lumberjocks Forum. You’re bound to get a few good ideas from the veterans there.

Great video my friend! Nice work :) This reminds me that I need to get a flattening jig (or make one, but buying one would just save me time...). @@BrettsWoodshop I got robbed of 90% of my tool collection 3 years ago. Working with a minimal rig made me not love the game. A year ago I started a tool buying rampage that is still taking place. Everything is brushless now. That robbery was the best thing to ever happen for my career. I would have ran those tools into the earth. Brett: Thanks very much for this video most helpful. I have a Ridgid TS4512 and am in the process of making a outfeed table. I have decided to go with Colin Knecht's design. Two comments: his table saw is a General, not the Ridgid; thus, he did not cover how to adjust the design of the outfeed table for the Ridgid to account for its extended fence of the end of the saw's back side. You obviously figure that out and I wish that you had covered that design feature a bit more in your video. I think that I figured it out but suggest that you might even do a new video showing details of your modifications in Colin's design that are required because of the length of Ridgid's fence. Thanks again.
