I really liked 'Inkheart'. I thought Brendan Fraser did a fantastic job. I thought they kind of put the two books into the same one.

along with the first season of Black Summer this is the most realistic apocalypse movie ever made. and seeing as these were not "zombies" but just raged humans it is the most likely to be a possibility. (we can completely forget about the abomination that was Black Summer season 2)

The sheer speed and violence of the zombies makes it. I hate the slow lumbering zombies or the mutated resident evil zombies that became so mainstream.

I remember watching this movies and remember thinking this is actually scarier than zombie coz zombie rely on instinct and aint that smart. Their ability and intelligent is limit. But here in tHis movies, u can hide in ur room but some crazy dude might pour gasoline n light up fire at ur doorstep or hide on rooftop tHen got shot by crazy sniper. Its sick.😢😢

Even though Ender's Game is technically part of a franchise, there's no reason to assume it was planned to be a franchise. The first book is a sci-fi teen adventure in space with battles and excitement. The second book (at least in publication order) is a moral and philosophical study in a small village and the adjacent forest. The time jump, though technically a few thousand years, is not as significant as the tonal and thematic jump. Not to mention Ender's Game is extremely popular and Speaker for the Dead is mostly unheard of. There's almost no chance anyone at any point in the production of Ender's Game was excited for the possibility of making a sequel if it did well. They were probably worried there would be demand for the sequel and wondering how they would manage to make a watchable movie out of it. There is, however, a side-quel, Ender's Shadow. If they ever try to make Ender's Game again, I really hope they film the two concurrently. Ender's Shadow has much more manageable sequels that would tide over audiences while the other actors grew up for the Ender sequels, while also helping make the tonal shift a little less dramatic. If anyone sticks through a few Bean-centric films will be ready to pick up Ender's story once he gets something meaningful to do again.

I've watched every single one of these, and a fan of Dark Materials (TV), LOVED Inkheart, but as you point out it is very different. The audio book is actually read by Brendan Fraser too. The second book is ok, the third one is way weird. The Mortal instruments movie messed up the brother/sister thing as it turns out not to be true and was a villain manipulation thing. Spiderwick reboot was ok but completely different than the books, other than the house and the guide being part of it. It aimed for YA rather than kids. Miss Peregrine's... yeah odd but they did combine multiple books to make the movie, but some of the books came out after the movie.

Mortal Engine - I bought it on blu ray and was ok with it. The world make absolutely no sense, but as popcorn movie it works. Ender's Game is good average, and I like Sci-Fi as theme. The Host imho a very good movie, and it slower pace worked for me perfectly fine. Ronan was awesome. And van Helsing is one of my favorite popcorn movies of all time. Music and Score - awesome The monster and how they act...the Dracula, Igor, The Monster etc. pp. The Vampire Brides The action scenes, the effects...or just the scenery. I couldn't care less what others say about this movie.

The Enders game book is a masterpiece and The Host by Meyers is a MAJOR step up from Twilight and was genuinely a good novel. Also, Van Helsing was epic! I loved it so much, and I still do, and I would readily watch a sequel.

I've often wondered if the Buick 8 was a portal to the Todash. And the lake in The Raft is a thinny. In Mrs Todd's Shortcut, is she driving through The Todash? Is the town in Rainy Season a Thinny? HOW connected are these stories?

They shot this film mostly on the Canon XL1s and the CANON GL2 on mini DV. The idea was because in London there is CCTV everywhere you go your always being recorded. This was before everyone had a smartphone, so it made sense to use those cameras to match the grit. I was in film school when this movie came out, we had access to those cameras. At the time they were used in music videos and hand held skate videos. 4000 dollar camera at the time on a 8 mill budget and came up 80 mil globally. This is low budget filming at its finest.

The sound track on 28 days is so good and contributes so much to the feel of the film. Sparse, dissonant, with some occasional melodic relief.

I Am Number Four was a decent movie. I think if they would have added more substance to the characters it could have been really good, but it kind felt like the rushed it to the ending. Ender's Game was actually pretty good. Character development was good and the acting was solid. The story was decent too all be it being predictable. Haha, the Vampire's Assistant is pretty stupid. The Host wasn't bad, if it had a made for TV flick or better, made a series rather than a movie. Just didn't do a good job at delivering the story or developing the characters. Like I Am Number Four, this one felt rushed. I wanted to like Van Helsing, but it was just bad. They took a dark story and tried to give it light hearted moments, which just made for stupid dialog.

It was shot digitally to give that old beat up feeling, and I believe Sony have the rights to the movie now and are planning to release it at some point, whereas 28 weeks later was owed by fox which Disney bought out fox hence why you can stream it on Disney+.

There's so many you didn't mention, it's bit like all the genres that become popular and studios try to get on the bandwagon by making second rate versions. Divergent series actually kept going and was awful.
