The Blaid the wolf guy wasn't there?

After playing the game through many times i can say confidently that he's right. The TL;DR: The magus class is crippled by 2 factors. Unfair dificulty which makes plenty of playstyles non valid, and the inherent jank of the videogame Pathfinder Kingmaker. In detail: While you can make the class work and be viable, you will encounter that it will take much more micromanaging that other classes to achieve similar performance, and will just straight up fall behind without it. The inherent problem with this are 2 things: (1) The absolute bullshit that is unfair difficulty making it so you'll have to tryhard every single encounter, even if its just the 30th bandit group, you can never relax and let your party do its own thing because your magus might get killed (and if its your main character that's a reload), while any other fighting class you can generally tryhard for big dps or relax and let the encounter finish itself out. (2) The absolute jank that plagues the game, the gist is: the more micro that you need to do, the more you'll encounter the game's jank. Here's a few that YOU WILL encounter: Pressing the hotkey for a spell or ability might count as a standar action instead of a swift, or free action. 5 step rule might bite into your movement preventing you from using a full round action. You cant use the 5 step rule after a full round action, only before. This is pretty much the only class in the game that has to constantly deal with concentration checks... etc. There are more generally the more you play the more you understand that the best way to deal with these issues is avoiding anything that will trigger them entirely, something that the magus will struggle to do

Picking it marks as if you have evocation spell focus already unlocked so you can't take it, but you also can't take the magic missile spell specialization either since the drop down menu just doesn't show any spells on the list. It's a royal pain if I'm being honest.

Hear me out on Crusaders. Yes, Paladins get full BAB, Smite Evil, and 6HP base per level instead of 5, and get their second swing 2 levels later, however Crusaders can hang beside them in the tank role (one less HP per level can be compensated for with feat selection or self buffs), are a bit worse in DPS when they're swinging (can self buff to be as good on attack chance, but yes, second swing comes at level 8 instead of 6). Crusaders are full casters with access to level 9 spells. They have a lot more utility. Divine Favor always gives +1 more than it will on a Paladin which bridges the gap for BAB in the early game when you need it, and is less "expensive" for them since they have more casts, and they make good use of things like Effortless Armor, Archon's Aura, and other self only buffs. and the Animal Domain gets a pet at level 4. The pet is a HUGE deal, for obvious reasons. I've been people claim that base Cleric with a single level of fighter outperforms the Crusader, but this just isn't the case. Such a build will always have the pet one level behind, will get access to spells one level later, and will have fewer combat feats. Crusader is vastly underrated in both games, and they're mechanically very fun to play, complicated enough to be interesting and it's fun to see the build "come online". They're a very good pick as a mercenary in Kingmaker, using the "stay at level 1" exploit (not so good as the main character since MC in the front lines is asking for single crit game overs) and also very good on the rogue like modes in both games on Challenging/core difficulties.

Did we completely skip number 2? Am i crazy? I found it behind 3 by the water fall. Edit: 1-4 are in that first area, plus the dragon halbard after beating the boss by #4. marikas scarseal is in the waterfall behind the boss. All are easy to get on horseback minus the halbard. 2 and 4 are by waterfalls, and four can only be gotten to by one of the portals. Not the ancestral spirit... the other boss...
