I skied from the age of 5 until I was 30. I suffered a serious knee injury in a traffic accident and the practice of the sport ended for me. Even today I get excited, watching a video like this, and remembering when I slid down the slopes, with my friends for days. I live in Spain and I have skied all over Europe (Spain, Switzerland, France, Austria) and Argentina (Andes). I have never been back to a ski slope.

unless they are doing avy control work i dont see the point of this when i can skin up any mountain for free. fuck if im going through the effort of walking up a mountain half the point is to not see any other people

If you're out with friends doing an avalanche safety refresher day at the start of the season, is it okay to practice with real alarm calls? Seems like yelling Avalanche for a training scenario might be problematic if other groups hear? (Genuine question, planning an Avy safety refresher day with friends and don't want to make other groups angry)

Some good information! I would add in addition to attempting to keep an air pocket if you're caught in an avalanche, is to push up a hand in the direction of what you think is up. Quite a few people have been found this way. Also, before jumping in to rescue someone, check the area for further avy danger and figure out a safe way to access the search area so none of the rescuers get caught in a secondary avalanche.

My first and only time I made it up in 30 minutes. If you have above average fitness it's not too hard, mainly the elevation is a factor. I also mountain biked up Pikes Peak on Barr trail, twice on a hardtail. Maybe a handful of people have done that.
