thanks , I seem to end up pressing down and not back for the catch - goodness knows why

This is interesting, I was taught to sweep toward the opposite hip (high elbow) to keep the shape, but this is very straight, though I do see your hand angle is very specific Mandy - thumb in line to shoulder but your hand cups toward the wall. Blowing my brain apart 🤪

Great rare video about timing, thanks!! Maybe you could elaborate next time on how to sustain all technique recommendations for more than 200m. This is a problem I think for the majority of triathletes.

Pretty good but I thought we were supposed to reach and take a second to set up our catch? Is that creating “dead space “? Thanks

Whenever i swim frog style, i find that my arms get tired very easily and I can hardly swim 15 meters. Why is that so? Secondly, I find it hard to push myself up to breathe; the waterline is like halfway between my chin and lower lip and instinctively, i start to struggle while swimming. How do I push myself effortlessly out of the water to breathe just like you do?

Never could swim breast stroke because my feet will not turn out, I am VERY pigeon toed. I did watch a bunch of it during the last Olympics. Some thing that I found interesting was how much the stroke rates varied between all swimmers, except for the final sprint to the finish. Some were very slow and used a long glide, and some used a much higher tempo stroke rate with a shorter glide. Not sure, but the slowest part of the breast stroke seems to me to be when the arms are thrust forward, and the knees drop down into the slip stream in a very high drag position. Many come to an almost complete stop. Thoughts?

I always tend to swim 4 beat like this (3 kick on non breathing site - 1 kick and glide taking a breath) but honestly i feel like the other way around is way more efficient. Ledicky does this aswell and the three kicks help to keep with body in line while breathing/ sighting and you can then propell with the single arm stroke. While like Finke you are basically like accelerating - braking and accelerating

All your advices are useful BUT i really can't understand why in that start sequence of the every content you swim breaststroke in a way which i really can't see your point, more exactly you pull out of the water almost ENTIRE UPPER BODY. I cannot see any sense to do that AT ALL.
@bernardvandyk443217 күн бұрын
Her point is right on but her stroke is not as efficient as it should be. I recommend never allowing the hand above the elbow. Also her left arm enters the water a bit shorter than the right. Relaxing the forearm with a high elbow recovery would help.

I usually find these fly drills more demanding than the regular fly with maximum gliding. However, if you cannot have a lane just for yourself, it’s the closest to fly you can get.

For anyone which want to learn how to become one with the water, to swim freestyle for relax and with no effort.. OPENWATERS is the answer. Find a lake without any activity on it, or go to swim in the NIGHT. Makd that for one year, tge water will learn you to forget about that kind of "swim to survive" :). That was my case.
