For example, when I am using the HeyKorea application to learn Korean, I find that I take advantage of a lot of time to learn vocabulary and good communication patterns

Thank you for the video! What’s personally worked the best for me as a language learner is Immersive Translate. It’s a browser extension that supports over 100+ languages. I use it to translate webpages and documents, and even to watch my shows and movies on Netflix, which has really helped me become immersed in my target language. I’ve already learned a lot so far, which is great.

What I gathered from this video was you ate bread, I think your Mom made it. You studied, not sure what. You went to the library and the bathroom. Sorry that that's all I could understand but my Korean listening skills is very bad. It's almost like I can understand it when I see it written down than hearing it out loud.

Since summer 2020! It’s been 4 years already. To add to that, I’ve been invested in other Asian languages for over 10 years which makes it easier to pick up Korean for me. People tend to forget language learning takes YEARS and give up when they’re not immediately fluent. You said you “think you got better.” That’s such a powerful statement. That means there’s been progress these past 10 months!🤩 Don’t get discouraged and keep going step by step! Your video was in my suggested, as I am interested in BTS a lot, I get lots of adds for Korean XD but as what works for me? Singing (or try) out loud with SUGA, well, all the others too, SUGA raps are hard! But I am enjoying myself inmensly. I do video's how-to-sing- along, a lot, it does help, Hailey is a good one, she sings along as well, as well as pronouncing. Writing along with Duolingo's works too, I might not be as quick as when I studied English and French back in my school days, but I am noticing progress in understanding words and recognizing them. Listening as much as I can helps, but your suggestion of shows I will do ( although I love to binge RUN episodes of BTS ) I really want to learn this beautiful language :D

Great video! Does your Korean ever interfere with your Japanese in your brain? I ask because I‘ve been learning Japanese for the past 3 years and it really feels like it‘s paying off recently, but lately I‘ve been also very intriqued by acquiring Korean in the same way you did, because I‘ve been acquiring French that way and it‘s really been satisfying without seeming to interfere in my English. Is that because we give primacy to certain languages?
@mii20s10 ай бұрын
Thanks for watching! Hmm...It usually doesn't bother me too much but there are some words I get mixed up from time to time due to the similarity in pronunciation (such as 세탁&洗濯). However, even if I mispronounce the word initially, my brain already knows what's right and what's not so I simply correct myself on the spot. I'm not too sure what the science behind it is tho!

First of all, language flex dayuuuumn 🔥that too with CJK?? wow I'm impressed 😳 Secondly, would you say that you picked up Japanese a bit more easily because you actually lived in Japan? I mean, you were fully immersed in Japanese culture. Also, great video, I enjoyed it a lot. It was calming to watch it and I will definitely keep coming back to this channel, looking forward to more content!! uhhh hwaiting!!!!
@mii20s10 ай бұрын
Thank you thank you🤗!! I'm so glad you enjoyed the video💓 I definitely picked up Japanese a lot easier after being imprisoned in Japanese school lol I was forced to read/write/speak/interact in Japanese for a good 3.5 years so that was HUGE. Also, living in Japan during college allowed me to brush up on not only my language skills but also my understanding of the Japanese culture. Never have I felt so non-Japanese my whole life...haha I think physically being in a country definitely allows you to pick up the language a whole lot quicker (ex: my Chinese) bc it also gives you the opportunity to find things you're interested in. For example, if I didn't go to China to study, I probably wouldn't have been exposed/developed an interest in Chinese variety shows or music. This helped so much with my listening and speaking!
@kaito435610 ай бұрын
@@mii20s That makes a lot of sense and I suppose living in Japan and China helped you pick up the nuances the respective languages because there's only so much you can learn through a screen or a book as opposed to actually being surrounded by it. Nevertheless, it makes me happy that you got these wonderful experiences. I began studying Japanese and then switched to Korean ( courtesy of Kdramas), it's a daunting language for sure.

In my opinion your Chinese and Korean are influenced by Japanese, not English. Definitely those languages are similar to Japanese, especially Korean has almost the same grammar system. 덕질 is one of the best way to learn languages. For me, learning languages is just like play the game)
@mii20s10 ай бұрын
Totally! I've never actually learned Japanese grammar nor Korean grammar before but I've heard the two are basically the same. For me, understanding Japanese helped with memorizing words. I wouldn't say English didn't help because I learn in English, grasp *most* concepts in English, etc., but knowing a multitude of languages definitely helps understand other languages from varying perspectives😊 Language learning feels like a game/puzzle to me, too!

How long did it take you from day one, to be able to have a full conversation with someone with an 80% comprehension, and bent and to articulate most of your thoughts? Do you have tips for learning sentence and thinking structures =)?
@mii20s10 ай бұрын
I started in summer 2020 so about 3~4 years? I picked it up pretty fast because I understood Japanese and Mandarin but my tip is just to immerse yourself in the language, seize every opportunity you have to use the language, and stay curious! For example, I like to go about my day uttering things in Korean. This allows me to question and ask myself things like, ""hmm...how would this be said in Korean?" I immediately follow up by testing my knowledge/looking things up. Another example would be something like...If I were to leave a comment after having watched Korean content, I'll try to write in Korean. Even if I don't actually leave the comment, I'll at the least try to understand how the sentence I wanted to say, would be said by looking through naver, twitter, etc. Hope that made sense!
@mii20s10 ай бұрын
Also, poorly spoken Korean helps with progress compared to unspoken Korean (as in it's better to try your best to form a sentence and engage in conversation rather than not doing so at all), so don't be afraid of making mistakes if you ever have the chance to speak the language <3
