This ttrpg looks so awesome but I can't help but feel intimidated by it nonetheless even if you say it's not that hard to run. Maybe I'm too inexperienced as a gm, I've only ran dnd 5e for half a year

As far as the fixed canon issue goes: This is an outerspace centered world type of game. Different levels of tech would absolutely exist from different sides of space. Especially if you use the time traveling asteroid module as the center of the canon. At least, that's what I would chalk it up to myself.

This seems really cool, but the fact that you need to buy the book, then another book, and then maybe additional supplements to run it is incredibly offputting.

Man, Quinns Quest is definelly 2024 show of the year to me! I've been in this hobbie for years but coming for a country who is just recently experiencing mainstream diversification of what a TTRPG really is and can do, this program just gave me so much. I really hope tha in the near future I can put some of these games to test with my groups and never in my life I wished I could invest in a creator with more tham likes and shares. Cheers and succes all the way down from Brazil, may 2025 bring much more great stuff for you to cover.

Honestly, I'm just SO glad this isn't a "let's force our setting into a D&D 5e mod" and instead uses a system more fitting for the style of gameplay! Super refreshing in that sense and generally enjoyable to watch.

When Quinns Quest launched, I thought, “Oh great. We need another trad RPG channel. Can’t wait to hear how much Quinn loves 7th edition Call of Cthulhu.” (100% sarcasm). But then Quinn started showing up on most of my fringe <3 indie RPG podcasts (like Yes Indie’d or RTFM), talking witch passion and deep understanding about his experiences with indie story games. After 2-3 episodes, I thought, “Alright, you’ve won me over.” Now I’m rooting hard for the channel's growth, the promotion of lesser-known games, the introduction of professional journalism and game criticism approaches into our community, and raising awareness about less familiar play cultures and techniques. Fantastic content. Heart thematically and visually looks like something that’s 100% up my alley. Looks like 2025 will bring me at least three narrative, almost-jungian-like, intelligent mega-dungeons: The Roots of Old Khaldur for Trophy Gold, His Majesty the Worm and *Heart*. The atmosphere of this game is brilliant. And the bees! Bees can be so creepy :) In my humble opinion, bees are the most terrifying creatures in the Trophy lore. All Hail The Mother of Millions.

Lancer feels really similar to Shadow of the Demon Lord, as dice mechanics ad player progression at least. As years goes by I'm moving more and more towards freeform/narrative. But for this one I've stepped back on my tracks. It's still more interactive than d&d, thanks to popcorn initiative and reactions each turn. I totally disagree on the lore point. It offers a guiding hand but plenty of hooks by political tension and details to be flashed

Quinns is so good at describing the contents of a book and the events of a session in a way that draws you in. I can only imagine how good he is as a GM, describing the setting of an adventure and the monsters inhabiting it

That critic won't land with me. I'm an old schooler, looking for new ideas everywhere, who will almost never play a ttrpg 100% as intended and will bring with him the best ideas of what he's encountered before. That death save mechanic ? Adopted. Robin D Laws' "never make a perception/investigation check if failing is not interesting" ? Adopted. So lacking emotional ties ? House ruled. Probably out of either Fiasco or Hillfolk.

Personally, I like that there is no real cannon for this system. I like building my whole world and story as a GM. I normally ignore the cannon story and background of whatever system I'm using.

Skate Story trailer came out two years ago and has been living in my head ever since. First look came out just a few days ago. It felt like a very personal project and the vibes are immaculate. So, now here comes Quinns and Slugblaster. If I had a penny for every incredibly personal, introspective, bordeline art-project, vibes-forward skateboarding game, I would have 2 pennies, which isn't a lot, but I'm so glad to have them because this is what art is made of.
