This made me get into mothership, is what i was looking for but i didnt know it existed. always being a fan of alien, firefly and a lot of other movies and media, and even if I dont get to play this, or even gm it to a group, just reading the manuals was a lot of fun.

Hey does anyone know why Quinn's Quests Patreon page vanished? Quinns just released a new blog post, didn't mention anything of quitting QQ-Patreon and suddenly its gone. Does anyone has more information regarding the patreon?

This video has not aged well. Since when could £3.99 get a single cup of coffee? Let alone 4!

I'm only 8 minutes in and the look, ell and comments are giving me original Traveller™ flashbacks. The game where you could die in character generation. I loved it. It was my first.

Thank you very much for this awesome review. Deadly honest, very exciting, very fun, and damn, you hit the nail on my concern with the 'mechanics' of Vaesen. I love the art, I love the idea, I love the Vaesen, and honestly, I plan to run it under completely different rules really, and I haven't even had a session 1. Dragonbane really spoke to me and thankfully, it avoids the Year Zero dice, and I love the base game as-is. I think I'll definitely run Vaesen somehow, but it will NOT be with the intended mechanics.

I can't believe that Quinn is reviewing this just as I was about to buy the core box. I just received my copy of the Kickstarter module "This Ship is a Tomb" for this system and can't wait to try it out. Thanks Quinn for the unbelievable timing!

18th Century Hellboy with the B.P.R.D., and a dash of Filmation Ghostbusters? Does it have solo modules?

This feels like it would be almost fully compatible with the Rogue Trader era version of 40k, the 1st edition setting and the rule book, from the 1980s, that was part light-rpg and war game. How is it for solo play? It also seems like it would it could paired with a journaling RPG too.

More than half of this is completely inconsequential backstory or preamble that could have been just summed up in a 10 min. intro. Whan a player says "Both in game & out of game I've COMPLETELY FORGOT WHAT WE'RE HERE FOR" it's a huge problem.

How exactly does someone make $ doing this? It must cost to rent this very very high end tech & to put your body in sleep mode. We also know from REAL LIFE running a huge data could is extremely expensive. This doesn't make money this costs tons of money...& why would these synthetics need a human mind emulation to run it when they could just be programmed to do work which would be far more efficient than them questioning their existence. This doesn't actually make any kind of sense.

I... i MIGHT have made a module painting the technical scene in Mothership (as I see it in my universe) and if, IF, you would be hot for such a module - it's named 'TechRot' and can be found on DriveThruRPG

I think you’ll love Delta Green if you haven’t checked it out. All of their books are extremely high quality, and their scenario/campaign books are out of this world. Impossible Landscapes might be the most insane and in-depth horror campaign ever made. Check it out!

At some point, I was wondering if you could cover Alien: The Roleplaying Game. Since Xenomorphs seem down your alley, you might've already played it, but in the chance you haven't, I'd like to see your thoughts.

Having androids being undefined is one of the best parts of the class. Players can range from straight robots to hella cybermodded humans to cyborgs to lastgen synths to nextgen synths or anything inbetween. One of the most fun parts is everyone giving their input on what “the rules” for the specific Android should be. Two of the same Android characters could play vastly different while having the exact same skills and it’s beyond fun for the players to explore this Copy pasted from a reply

Oh damn. The death roll under a cup mechanic is bloody brilliant. I think that won me over. I ran Alien RPG for a cinematic one-shot last weekend and it didn't quite hit the right notes for me, I think I am much more into narrative TTRPGs in general.

I feel something that would benefit future editions of mothership is to identify the negative space of its non-setting setting. The common ones I've identified are: what are androids, the nature of hyperdrives, how advanced are computers, how robust are ships, how long are recovery times, and are aliens a known thing. Having an answer to these questions before play helps so much in my experience in creating a consistent world. Does anyone have any other questions that should be answered before play?

To me an essential part of a big mech game is having to salvage parts and repairing mechs between sessions, hoping that you got enough time and stuff to have a pristine machine for the next mission but having to prioritize what systems you may have to go without. And the idea you can just print a new machine each mission feels a bit off.

Those sound like entirely reasonable concerns to me. It, of course, depends on the DM and the group at large whether they'll actually be a problem or not. As a long time DM who mostly does homebrew bodge work anyway, I don't mind a lot of it so much but it's certainly helpful to know in advance what I'm getting into.
