I completely agree with the evil races advocacy. Not just because it's necessary as a narrative function, but also because of how D&D handles good and evil. In D&D, good and evil aren't subjective forces. They're cosmic constants. Good is everything that allows life to flourish and exist, whereas Evil is that which subjugates and destroys life. (in the simplest explanation of the two) And this is something that any good story needs. You need something that you can fight without repercussion, because it is the right thing to do so. Then you also have the entire fact that the gods that created the evil races specifically did so with the intention of using them as their minions. The gods of Elves, Men, and Dwarves (to give examples) never force these races to actually follow their creeds, but the various gods and demons that've created Orcs, Goblins, and the likes all absolutely force them to obey their command.

Hmm... "attacking" the village still sounds too hostile. It presumes that there will be a violent confrontation. Maybe you could say, "The GLM activists are staging a rally in the village." That's more inclusive, and gives the players an opportunity to demonstrate good allyship.

You know. Sometimes I think people focus to much on the word woke. While ignoring the issues with media. Someone uses the term woke and suddenly all their points get thrown out. Almost like they don't want to talk about the issues with media but rather just find a easy way to group everyone together and dismiss all of their points. For a common issue has been, broken and buggy games to sometimes the point of being unplayable. Games crashing all the time, games having poor performance even on high end machines. due to how poorly put together the game is. Bad gameplay or the game simply doesn't work. For story related stuff. It tends to be how things lack consistency in how they work. Making it seem like the whole world bends over backwards to favor the main character, rather than tell a good story. That or how a main/major character is one note. With them shouting out their single trait again and again. For I seen very lustful character, who tend to have more of a personality than alot of these new characters. Like oh yeah, they collect shells. They like to mess and tease people, they can from time to time be heroic, be wholesome. Have a personality beyond just being a lustful character. That or in the case of say succubi, it often them using charm and seduction to advance their own goals or that of their master. If the makers behind these piece of media/games, did a better job at ensuring quality standards. They would most likely be making money and not be getting so much negative feed back. Sure there is always going to be the one person who never happy. That why you focus on who you can please and in the case of a business, the people who will give you money.

The reason why traditional gorgons are called medusas in D&D is because they already had a monster called a gorgon, but it isn't a traditional medusa instead it is a metal skinned bull that breathes petrifying gas. I don't know why the original creators originally called that creature a gorgon, but it has stuck to through every edition of D&D. So when they added actual mythological gorgons, they had to call them something other than gorgon since there was already a monster called a gorgon and with Medusa being the most famous gorgon they decided that medusa would work as a name for that monster.

Genderless succubi. Makes me go, wait is that real? Two, if it is. Don't we have incubus, making genderless succubi pointless. Given all the bases are already covered. If your into men you have incubus. Into women succubus. With shape shifting abilities, letting you cover anything else. Which yeah there is nothing wrong with evil races. Given well it fiction and in the context of dungeons and dragons or other settings, evil gods exist and make evil minions to carry out their will. Also pure evil races, does let people just turn off their brain and enjoy a good fight. They can have a fun simple adventure, without needing to debate every single choice as right or wrong. For sometimes people need to relax, just enjoy themselves and escape from the real world for a moment or two. Which is the main point of entertainment, to enjoy yourself. For yeah alot of this stuff, seems like they want everyone to play the same way. Removing one of the greatest things from tabletop gaming. The freedom of choice. Alot of these changes come off, as pointless. The original work and made sense. Only to replace it with things that come off as pointless as worst or make less sense than the original thing. With the push for modern wheel chairs being a good case of this. In a fantasy setting with access to healing magic, it seems unlikely someone would end up in a wheel chair. If by chance they do. That would greatly limit their mobility, next to something like a flying magical carpet that would let you drop alchemist fire onto someone from above. Heck dwarves depending on the setting, might be able to make some cool tech to help you walk again.

This is insane; these ae FICTIONAL RACES you morons! That's the point! Thank like saying that OG Klingons and Romulans are insulting to RL race X, the Klingons are SPACE SPARTANS, the ROMULANS ARE SPACE ROMAN FASCISTS. They are concepts, ideas, that you work with to make an interesting story. You can have evil races in fiction as an idea to explore evilness. How would they act, how do they live, do they have a culture or religion. No one would make the leap that real ethnic groups are evil from seeing fake made up races. If the goblins in your game are racist that a you problem. Not a dnd problem. My goblins are just another parallel society. Its fun to have a mix of people in the bandit camp or cultists. Hell my orc and Goliath are matriarchal while my tabaxi are plain people the drow on the surface are Japanese, the pirates are freakin libertarians. The only thing you need the book for is stats and there are websites for that too.

To be fair, I think previous versions of Medusas in D&D had male versions.

2nd edition AD&D actually had a male medusa, IIRC it was called a "Maedar" but it wasn't just a dude with snakes for hair, it was a totally different creature who complemented the Medusa by being able to turn stone back to flesh (after destroying it, i.e. so they had food). All this really sows is that the current D&D designers are ignorant of mythology and the literary background of the genre.

Here's the odd factiod on the dnd official worlds. All are post apocalyptic socities after some civilization ending event. Faerun had the Netherise fall, Dragonlance was the divine cataclysm, Ravenloft is under perpetual night, Dark sun was environmental collapse, Darokin (Japanese arcade) was destroyed by the great red dragon Synn and Planetscape is the Bloodwar in a nutshell. Everyone here basically have bigger problems than polical correctness.

This change makes no sense! Orcs are supposed to be savage brutes, certainly you can have exceptions to the rule. But trying to make Orc's Mexican is about the stupidest shit I've ever heard. "To give them a unique culture!" What a load of bullshit! They had culture, or, more accurately, cultures! Some orc cultures revolved around raiding or conquest, others it was about living in harmony with the harsh brutal aspects of nature, some were hardened nomads just surviving in a harsh world. I loved, and still do love, the tribal savage Orc's. They're my Orc's!

D&D has always had "male" dryads. They're called Treants. Sure, there are some subtle differences, one is a "tree spirit" that can control plants the other is an "awakened tree" that can control plants. But they've got to keep perpetrating the lie that there is NO INNATE BIOLOGICAL DIFFERENCE, other than some outdated cultural bias, between the sexes in absolutely every cultural artifact they produce to convince people that it's also true of humans in real life, with their obvious biological difference between the sexes.
