Great System...mostly you get free Power during the Sunny Days. The 5K battery will only get you about 5 hrs at night, depending on what kind of Refrigerator and HDTV you have. Refrig/TV/Lights/Computers = can run over 200Watts an Hr.. Cooking food can take a big chunk of power. Battery also runs the Power System, so that takes at least 50 watts an hr.

You should always hand tighten terminal screws on devices, its less likely to damage the threads and is less likely to loosen.
@xirkio28 күн бұрын
2 problems use of impact on the device. This can damage the internals of the device or outlet in this case, please use a flathead. Also curling is not necessary for gfi outlets, after stripping you loosen the screw and insert them into the circles on the back making sure to get the wire under the metal plate then tighten the screws giving them a tight connection.

Yes, we found this generator nearby. The previous owner had upgraded to a new model and left this one outside for a few years, so it wouldn’t start after that. He sold it as-is and didn’t know if it would work because the battery wasn’t functioning. We just replaced the battery, and it started working.

your way off on the refrigerator i doubt the compresser was on on the refrig you should habe left it on the jackery at least 1 hr this was a fairly small battery pack and the gas generator was fairly large i would not use the moniter on the laptop vacuuum uses a large surge . at the end you repeat the refrigerator no that little jackery will not run very long and you did not test it long enough even the 1000 jackory will barely run a large refrigerator for a day . i live in fl we had 2 storms 1 lost power 1 didn't and i used up several 100 ah and 5 low cap batteries and 2nd dau had to start generater to run all day and get freezer and def up to temp and charge the batteries for night so i diden have to run gen at night . IMO lipo4 are now lower priced and get a inverter large enough for the largest load is a better deal the power stations are quick and easy for camping and portable use but for power outages you need the large ones and over 1000 to 2000 usd but a gas inverter or even reg gen han be had for 3 to 500 wont be honda but will keep refrig and lights on
@Peek-a-LakeАй бұрын
For my refrigerator test, I waited about 15 minutes. The refrigerator made some noise, but I couldn’t tell if the compressor turned on. It would be unfortunate if this small battery isn’t powerful enough for the refrigerator, as it’s a crucial appliance for the house. Of course, to power an entire house, you need a gasoline generator of at least 5-7 kW, especially if electricity is the primary resource for heating. I heard about the storms in Florida and hope you and your loved ones are safe. During a storm, it’s definitely better to have a large generator with a supply of gasoline or multiple LiFePO4 batteries.
@rmanuel224Ай бұрын
How is this fair? $200 for a power station vs. how much for the gas generator? More power demand requires more power output. Manufacturers know this. They try to price the wattage you want, not the machine you choose to use.
@Peek-a-LakeАй бұрын
To be honest, this battery is very small for a house. I use a portable 7 kW gasoline generator, which is big, noisy, and consumes 10 gallons of gas for every 24 hours of operation. However, it's the best option if you own a house. On the other hand, if you live in an apartment, a small battery is the best solution.

Congrats on your purchase. You will enjoy having this. I found owning large solar setups and components. Solar, VIctron MPPT controller, 120Ah 48V LifePo4 and 3500watt inverter. I still really like having portable solar battery units. They are as you found out very convenient to carry to places where electronics are. Vs running drop cords from generator.
@Peek-a-LakeАй бұрын
I agree about the convenience of portable battery units; they’ve been a game-changer for me, especially when I need power in remote areas. It’s so much easier than dealing with cords or relying solely on a generator.

@jamescampolo7824Ай бұрын
The refrigerator would have failed also if the compressor would have started up. A refrigerator compressor uses way more than 7watts that you showed. That 7watts was just for the control circuits in the fridge.

@Peek-a-LakeАй бұрын
This is an option to make a power bank yourself using a 100 Ah LiFePO4 battery, but it will cost more than $200. Additionally, you will need to buy an inverter, a battery controller, wires, and other components. However, I like the idea, and I will probably give it a try. Thanks for the advice!
@chrisp308Ай бұрын
@Peek-a-Lake yes this is true however I have a 300 ah battery with a 2000 watt pure sine wave inverter and 40 amp smart charger all for less than 5 of these little money traps. To give you an idea a 300 ah lithium battery recommends 1200 watts of solar array each. Hope this was helpful and remember you don't have to purchase everything at once.
@Peek-a-LakeАй бұрын
@@chrisp308 Wow! You have a great setup! It's really smart and efficient, and not that expensive!
@1kzriderАй бұрын
A true statement. Also, as other comment pointed out. That leads you into components needed territory. Which is also great way of doing so. I have several setups like this and I still bought 3 portable power stations. Why cause you can carry them around for one. Take the power to areas you will be vs running drop cords. And covers much of basic electronics needs. Running shop tools test was for viewers to see. They knew it wouldn't power those devices. As for fridge it still maybe or may not work as some these little units can still power small fridges. I have found in monitoring my large setup. I have deep chest freezer and small fridge and pull less 300 watts combined. So really depends on fridge as you pointed out compressor. They got a great little unit for needs really. For me I would run the gen still in power outage during the day if bad weather and save the quite no noise Jackery for night use. If good day and sunny run jackery and electronics in float mode.
@Peek-a-LakeАй бұрын
I also think the refrigerator should work even when the compressor turns on. It seems to me that the compressor consumes less than 300 watts.
@douglasrobbie9998Ай бұрын
If allowed by electric co, you should extend your pv rack system and add another 4000w or so. This assumes the cable to shed can take more amps. If not, you can restring the panels for higher voltage/lower amps and add another cable (relatively inexpensive 10 or12 gauge) for the second set of panels. New panels should be bifacial, in the 400+ watt range and currently should run around 30 cents/watt. Bifacials work well in winter/melt snow off panels/collect reflected light. The other item- get more bats (1 is really not enough), either more eg4 or clones or do a 48v 15kwh kit for around $2k. This way you will have enough power for 2nd home.
@Peek-a-LakeАй бұрын
Thanks for your advice. I really appreciate it. Our plan is to add at least six new solar panels and one more solar battery to increase electricity storage.

Yes, it is, but for many people, there is no alternative to solar energy because bringing grid electricity is either impossible or extremely expensive. We started using a solar system because we didn’t have any other option. Now, we have extra power that we’re not using, and we sell it to the power company.

We live at 53°N here in the EU, far north, like Edmonton Canada, but solar works here too, more than 75% of the yearly energy needs comes from our roof. House, heating, car, all electric for 10 years now. Could add more panels to go up to 90%. Solar panels are the best invention so far
@Peek-a-LakeАй бұрын
We are in North Idaho and we are very happy with our system. In the summer, when there is full sun, our panels produce about 30 kWh per day. In the winter, with frosty air and sunlight, they produce about 20 kWh per day. We send excess electricity to the general grid. We enjoy being independent of public water, electricity, and sewerage systems :)
