This action of Allan Donald was more side chested, thereby generates more torque. Naturally there is increased pace. The height of the jump was also relatively lesser but he covers more distance and makes better use of the crease. This is one of the faster spells that Donald ever bowled

Steve Waugh handled Donald and other SA pacemen much better and his record against them bears the testimony for that.

The perfect bowling machine. His earlier action and runup was different. He had injuries and changed his style but his pace was always there when he needed. Greased white lightning.

There should have been a speed gun used when Donald was young and at his peak. Prime Allan Donald was easily one of the fastest bowler in world cricket. I would say prime Donald was in the same league as Akhtar and Brett Lee.

Steyn swung both ways... 1. New ball conventional out swing which is also in swing to a left hander 2. Old ball wobble seam reverse in swing which is also out swing to a left hander... If you go search for dale Steyn in swing with ol ball.. you'll find out his wickets.... plus dale Steyn is put h independent.. whereas Anderson and broad failed to repeat their performances in the sub continent.. while Steyn performed as well in SA, AuS , India , WI , Ban, Sri,Eng and NZ.... And to all those who thinks Steyn is an outswing bowler onlymm well I guess this video is for them.. 5 in and 5 out wickets here..

This was Donald's earlier action (88-93) where he had a longer pause in his gather and was like a coiled spring, at his very fastest. Funny enough, he never used this action again and sacrificed a yard of pace for greater accuracy and ability to bowl long spells required for tests as the spearhead. In 1989 he was timed at 158 against the touring English.

I tell you , in the late 70s 80s and most of the 90s you had to really earn your salt as a batsman... Most teams had a bowler or 2 or 3 who could decapitate you.... Cricket has changed so much... Definitely altered to be a batsman game
