how do you reckon that the cracks just need repointing, how do you know that they are not deeper, structural defects ?

No mining still continues salt is produced at the winsford mine and is used mostly for gritting roads the Northwich mines they still make caustic soda but in smaller amounts the factory at barnton in Northwich closed in the late 1990s the factory was demolished is 2017-20 winnington still makes caustic soda as for the subsidence issue at the beginning of the 21st century all the old mines in Northwich were filled in by injecting it with a mixture of cement and ash

I stumbled across this great video by chance. Thank you so much to whoever was responsible for collating and videoing all those apprentice school photos, great work! I was there between 1978 - 1982, and I cannot remember the group photo being taken, so I was shocked to see myself there in the 1978 group photo. :-D It brought back some great memories, and faces that I have not seen in many years, thank you. Would it be possible to get a HD scan of the photo by any chance? Many thanks in advance.

I used to have a clear view of these chimneys from my bedroom window as a kid, used to love the sight of them. I was only 5 years old when this was filmed. Sadly they are no longer there and the plot they were on is now being turned in to a modern incinerator which looks horrendous.

Fascinating video. I was once told while the development of R134a was a success, the intial underwhelming sales due to illegal cfc recycling was part of the reasons why ICI collapsed. I tried to look up more modern sources recently but they all seem to point to the failed acquisitions as to why, and Kennedy's wonderful book was written just before everything unfolded. Is there anyone more familiar with the company would like to shed some light on this?

They built the chimneys up from the inside outwards. Worked their overhauling all the FD and ID fans coupersplit bearing and scraped the white metal bearing in on some of the larger rotating machines in. They used to have oil drums with fires in on the intakes in the early 1990s.
