There is no need to pay $25 bucks for a sitting pad. Get 5 of them for $5 on Ali. They will outlast you. And buy either green or orange colors if you don’t wanna lose or forget them. This comes from a guy with 16 years of experience. Don’t be a gear snob be a savage.

Do the 850 and the 950 FP compress to near the same size?
@mingleinpinecollective16352 ай бұрын
I haven’t done very precise comparisons but they feel pretty similar. Typically, higher fill compresses down slightly more but I’m not sure it’s super noticeable in a backpack

Have you noticed a difference in loft, loft loss, feathers poking through, ect. between the 850 fill and 950 fill? It’s my last choice and I’m going nuts researching and trying to decide 😂 Edit: Oh, almost forgot, what’s the difference in how small it packs down? Thanks!
@mingleinpinecollective16359 ай бұрын
So sorry I missed this comment! Those are some really great questions. We haven’t put our quilts through a super rugged test like a thru-hike yet. Through our various trips together, it has been hard to spot differences (besides the colors we chose). I have yet to see any feathers poke through but I’m sure it will happen. We store ours really well so haven’t noticed a loss in loft. The weight is different but not noticeable and I think the higher loft is meant to pack down smaller but I haven’t tested them side by side to see if it’s noticeable- we both just stuff ours in the bottom of our packs (no stuff sacks). I don’t think you can go wrong! If you have the extra money, save the weight and splurge a little bit. Otherwise, you’ll still be happy you got a really high quality quilt.

Hey thanks for the video! I was curious. My backpack is small so I can take it on Ryanair flights. So every extra thing is already too much. Unless the purpose is important enough. Is it even comfortable to sit on? Do you really need it? In principle you could just sit at the entrance of your tent right? And when it is sunny you could sit on the grass. I am curious what you think? Thanks again!
@mingleinpinecollective1635 Жыл бұрын
Hi @jeroeny! I totally understand, all weight adds up so this is totally up to your preference! A sit pad is a luxury item, but one that I’ve come to really appreciate it. It is not necessary if you’re trying to cut weight, but on trips where I’ve expected wet conditions I’ve found that it’s really helpful in keeping my feet dry when getting in and out of my tent, my butt dry when taking a break, and even nice to set gear or clothing on that I don’t want getting wet or muddy. Totally your call!

The 400 lumen mode does not last long, I continue, but at 200 lumens it is capable of giving several hours without reducing power?
@mingleinpinecollective1635 Жыл бұрын
You’re right! The higher setting you use, the shorter battery life you’ll have. Whenever I’m in camp, I keep it on a low setting. In my tent, I use the ultra-low mode. I reserve the 400 lumen mode only for night hiking when necessary and it has lasted me quite a while!

@mingleinpinecollective1635 Жыл бұрын
I genuinely found them to be comfortable, especially with the adjustable cinch piece! It doesn’t have to be tight to stay on so I think that would give you the ability to keep it from getting uncomfortable- I hope this helps!

Cool video, thanks for the info! So because I was also going to get this pack I'm curious to know something. So... behind the mesh that's up against your back there is that cross bar that sorta helps those carbon fiber rods stay in place and keep the pack, when full, from bulging out and poking the mesh/your back. What I'm curious about though is while the pack has the arc in it and you're loading everything up, does that crossbar get in the way or in general have any effect on how you load the pack? Thanks again and Cheers!
@mingleinpinecollective16352 жыл бұрын
Hi Laura! Thanks for the question, I wouldn’t say that it has been a bother at all- I have noticed that items that can kind of form around it do best in that position (food bag or puffy, for example). But even pushing my sleep system down past the crossbar is no problem. I have noticed the bag can sometimes reach the mesh if I don’t keep the correct arc, but that’s easily adjustable. I hope this helps!
