He was quoting Lil Fat
@Zachary-dr1mu24 күн бұрын
My assumption for why he said it so casually is that he may have gotten a pass from someone in chat, but even despite that, the intent behind its usage is crucial. This is quoting an event that took place wherein Lil' Fat said the n-word, and Fatguy flippantly said it in a recap of the absurdities that happened up to that point. I'm not here to 100% justify the usage (and especially as a white person, I can't), but there wasn't any intent in it; it was said offhandedly, not directed at anyone, and in one single moment of a three hour long live stream. He also, as far as I can tell has only said it once in his entire online career.

my most charitable possible interpretation is - it kind of looks like he just didn't think about the fact that he was actually saying the word he's also european so may have a different relationship potentially ? i don't know like for example my parents who are neither american nor young enough to be heavily engaged in online discourse, have as low an opinion of the word as a horrible racist thing to say as the next person, but they don't have the same kind of aversion to like, _even making the sound_ when _referring_ to the word that i do or other people who are a bit younger or "plugged in" do, and it's kind of startling in the rare instances it comes up, even if the context is like "this racist person/character was going around saying the n word" (except they don't say "the n word" they just say the word)

It's hilarious because I can see _exactly_ how the translation chain arrived at this combination of words. Also consider this is the _only_ group of people so protected and coddled emotionally that they have a slur considered to be some sort of black magic, where daring to write or utter it is treated like a physical assault.
@TopOfAllWorlds7 ай бұрын
Imagine being so ignorant that you think the N word is the only slur. Lmao
@gengarzilla16857 ай бұрын
I'm willing to _not_ complain about them having that protection, considering the unbelievable atrocities committed on their forefathers. Institutionalised slavery was indeed one of the worst things mankind ever thought to inflict upon itself. Acknowledgement is not coddling. These scars need to stay closed.

he really wanted to say the hard r.
@GubDubBub7 ай бұрын
I can see why.
@linhero7977 ай бұрын
My theory as to why this happened, is that Google Translate was attempting to transliterate (I think that's the right word), one word from one language to another. There are words in other languages that sound like the hard R but don't mean the hard R. Chinese has one for example. So my guess is google was trying to translate the SOUNDS of the word for WHATEVER reason. And when doing so, it doesn't have a filter, so it just output the hard R since that's the results when you translate the sounds of the syllables into their English equivalent.
@UltraNintendoChalmers647 ай бұрын
The original line is "Gonzales, serves no one, lady. Right, Gonzales?" It seems that the google translate thought "serves" sounds like "slaves" and then went to the n-word for some reason. Maybe because slavery was predominantly done to black people in western Europe and the Americas, I guess?
@ironicdivinemandatestan42625 ай бұрын
@@UltraNintendoChalmers64I assume it involved translation into Arabic, where the word abīd (عبيد) means both a servant/slave and a slur for Black people in Arabic-speaking countries.
