They are making this because it’s too dangerous in the city so nobody goes out there. I went to downtown STL on a Friday night and it was like a ghost town at 11pm. Only major city I’ve ever been to that I’ve seen that

Adding on to the culture point, we have a great energy. There have been multiple bands like Breaking Benjamin and Korn that say St.Louis is there favorite city to play in due to how lovely we can be. Which compared to concerts I went to in Chicago and Colorado I say is a fair assessment. As someone who is a nerd there are also a lot of cheap game stores and fun movie bars which helps you meet other people in the community. (Shout out to Bodachs, Tater Tots, and Arkadin!)

Lots to develop in the Lou, all that’s green will be sub-greenery. Only debate is car dependency, iRobot automation of transport, walkability , public transport in general.

I've lived in St. Louis my entire life. I've had a guy randomly attack me outside a Steak N Shake and almost kill my friend. I've had situations where homeless people wont leave you alone unless you give them money in areas where you're supposed to be able to go out like Cherokee St, The Grove, or Washington Ave. I've had homeless people run, yes run, from 2-3 blocks away to try and panhandle me for money while out. You have to take you and your woman and hurry inside somewhere to escape. I've had my car blocked into a parking lot in Soulard (again supposed to be a nicer area) by a group of random people while a moronic worker at a bar got attacked by one of them. Had to convince a friend to leave. I've also had to get rid of friends for random acts of violence towards people. If you're from out of town and you're thinking of St. Louis, ABSOLUTELY do NOT live in downtown St. Louis. There is not a St. Louisan you will meet with a decent paying job that would influence you to do that. You need to live around 15 minutes, or more, outside. All these "St Louis is great" videos are from people not from here.

Sounds like a terrible idea, they already have housing projects being developed near there, to add more house is going to make congestion horrendous for them, Their streets aren't meant to handle such things, definitely a dumb move by the city to allow so much unwanted housing to go up.

Very nice, comprehensive coverage of the are. I am bound for Chesterfield in late January. I plan to rent for a few months, then will be purchasing. How does the price seem to be hovering, per acre in the Chesterfield area? Will make contact soon, I'd love to have an experienced buyers agent through this process. Great content! 🤝🏼 Disclaimer: Coming from Oklahoma... not California. 🤣

I’ve never in my life heard of “mid county”. North county, west county, south county, the city. Those are the 4 sections
@LivingStLouis
@LivingStLouis 5 күн бұрын
So in which of those sections would you categorize Clayton or Ladue, for example?
@BlackRepublicanTV
@BlackRepublicanTV 5 күн бұрын
@ we’ve always considered those to be west county, where as Maryland Heights, Bridgeton and Creve Coeur are north county. I will say however, that could be a cultural thing within the region. I’ve never heard the news channels, for instance, mention the “west side” in reference to the city, but they do acknowledge west county. But we have always acknowledged the west side of the city as its own section (Wells-Goodfellow, Academy, basically anything near the Delmar Loop). Perhaps that stems from growing up where gangs and territorial boundaries were prevalent (God I hope I didn’t turn this into a racist thread with that last sentence 🤦🏿‍♂️).
@LivingStLouis
@LivingStLouis 5 күн бұрын
@@BlackRepublicanTV That's a good point - I think people have a different view on the boundaries of those sections depending on where they're from / where they live since there aren't official boundaries recognized by STL county other than municipal ones. Some of it seems pretty subjective; I've even heard people use the term "Southwest County" which is one I hadn't heard until a few people commented it on other videos!
@BlackRepublicanTV
@BlackRepublicanTV 5 күн бұрын
@ yeah I’ve never heard “southwest county” but being from the north side, I was always pretty confused about where west county ended and south county began. Even parts of west and north county seem to converge at points

Chesterfield building it’s own city is all fine and good! Urban development is fine in my book. But let’s have places to go that have vibrancy - this city is so spread out so that the masses have no place to congregate that isn’t either a long drive or crime ridden. As a young transplant that has been here for 5 years, do we hang in Soulard, Midtown, Clayton, St. Charles, Chesterfield?… PICK ONE I love the St. Louis vibe. What has happened to this city after the 60’s sucks. But Spread out “urban” centers isn’t going to fix the problem. I guess initiative is better than being unmotivated 🙂

People aren't going to want to hear this, but this is nothing more than a massive housing development. I understand why developers are marketing this as a positive, but I truly can't understand why any resident wants to turn Chesterfield into your typical highly populated suburban nightmare. What has made this place so great is all the conveniences and entertainment of a big city, with the population of a small town. This is going to bring traffic, destroy greenspace, amplify noise pollution, and crowd stores. In 20 years from now it will be unrecognizable.

Hometown!! I loved growing up there, but…it’s gotten so grown up. When it started taking 15-20 min to get out of our subdivision at rush hour, kinda hard to love it. South city is the best place to live in my opinion. Downton sucks. You will hate game days. The only way you would like it is if you work there, since parking is awful. Not many people live there. Its pretty dead on none game days and too much during game days. However, there is a lot lot lot of crime and it is sad. The whole city had a sadness (even south city) and i would reccomend having a solid support system if you live there. It has a weird small town exclusive feel that can be isolating. Everyone grew up around the area and the girls are mean as hell. Even if they seem nice at first....be very careful. As for crime, i lived there 5 years and my two(separate) neighbors were shot and my roomate was mugged. So take that information as you will. With a good group of friends, its fun but you will have a better experience if you have close family in the area.

North County is steadily declining and has been for years. True, it is mostly do to age of the majority of the housing and after WWII when subdivisions were a new thing this area wasn't where the high dollar housing was built such as Ladue, etc. I've spent my lifetime in N. County, 65 years, my first 3 were in Ferguson and the rest in Florissant. Most (if not all.) people don't know that many, many decades ago Florissant was once named the 2nd safest city in the U.S. when compared to other cities of the same population in reported crime. Is Florissant the worse it gets when it comes to crime? No, not at all, but I do believe in 30 to 40 years this will become a challenge. All of North County will be considered a low income area such as East St. Louis, IL. today. With even older housing in 30 to 40 years (add that to some are nearing and more than 70 years old.) than it already is today and very little to no new redevelopments you'll began to see subdivisions where vacant houses demolished and others boarded-up. This already exists in parts of N. County. This is just part of the life cycle of a many areas around the U.S. and around the world. Watch "Meet Me in St. Louis" and you'll see what the housing and life once was inside 'some' of the city limits.

It's not a safe city (except a few areas that very few can afford.) Saint Louis WAS a decent place to make money when the cost of living was low. Now with inflation it isn't worth it anymore dealing with high crime rate and safety issues. Prepare to have your car broken into even in previously known as "safe" areas. And that's not even bringing race tensions into the mix that makes STL the most segregated city in the midwest.

I lived on the outskirts of Florissant near the old abandoned Jamestown mall for 1.5 years, and also in Bevo Mill for about 1.5 years. 2019-2021 inclusive between the two. I had 6 different jobs in that time ranging from machinist, woodworker, engineer, and pharmacy tech barely getting bills paid and living with others to help offset costs. Florissant/Jamestown was fairly pleasant and quiet. Bevo Mill - far from it, but it became the "best" place I could afford. I now understand you cannot afford to be broke. My catalytic converter was half-sawn off a truck I was borrowing at the time. I had street beggers pounding on my car windows in traffic. I called emergency services for a gunshot victim in an alley. We had homeless people squat in the house next to ours and convert it into a baby mama drama drug den. I had my hose cut up and fashioned into a noose that was hung in my yard. From the very moment I was pulling in the moving truck, having not stepped out the vehicle, and the day we were loading it in, we had neighbors screaming, "GET. THE. FUCK. OUT."
