I live in New Town, and I couldn't agree more. Beautiful, and homes there are RAPIDLY gaining in value.

Hometown!! I loved growing up there, but…it’s gotten so grown up. When it started taking 15-20 min to get out of our subdivision at rush hour, kinda hard to love it. I do love all the parks, the library, Old Main Street (I got married in what used to be The Conservatory and had my reception at Magpie’s!), and enjoy being close to but not in StL.
@LivingStLouis15 күн бұрын
Yes definitely! Not all the growth has had positive effects, but it still is a great place to be close to STL while still having some separation from it

No groceries or stores like target/Walmart. I deliver groceries and target orders to new town. Stores are a good 15 min drive away

Actually there is a grocery store in Newtown. It's a small one though. But if you didn't feel like leaving the neighborhood you could go there and buy a few things
@LivingStLouisАй бұрын
That's such a good point. There's 1 grocery store in town but it's on the smaller side. Nothing near Target or Walmart

New town is the chesterfield of st charles. Be prepared to spend a buttload of money. However, it’s beautiful and reminds me of New Orleans. Anywhere around Main Street st charles will be crowded with tourists; but if you live close and walk dogs, each business has a doggy bowl outside so your dog won’t get overheated. The ones of us who live near Main Street can say it’s a pain in the ass so if you’re trying to go to the store and an event is happening there will be a long stop and go trip (because they’ll have all the main streets shut off; better off hopping on 370 to earth city and taking it to 70. I grew up on the opposite side of st charles (st charles west school) and then went to north county and came back 14 yrs ago. I will never go back to north county but know that the st charles area by Main Street is by the soup kitchen (which means loads of homeless individuals and drugs; we’re basically the country ghetto). Just things I wished I’d kniwn

Those are definitely some great points you bring up! We didn't explain how touristy Main street can be, but you're absolutely right the street being closed off can be a hassle living near there

How are the schools in St Charles? Thinking of moving to the area but have heard mixed reviews of St Charles and the schools there. I’ve Noticed the houses seem significantly cheaper than O’Fallon and even St Peters and was wondering if there was a reason for the prices being so low. Love your content! Thank you!

O'Fallon has better schools. But St. Charles is so much more fun to live in than O'Fallon.

The far northern edge of the city of St. Charles is the Orchard Farms SD. Excellent school, including a brand new HS.

River point is no longer happening. The sign is down and the project is no longer listed on the developer’s website. Tore down an entire forest and ruined the island trails for nothing.

I live in St Charles and I never considered it a suburb of St Louis. I thought it was its own separate entity because it is considered a city. Just like St Louis is a city.
@LivingStLouis3 ай бұрын
It definitely is it's own city! We just meant suburbs referring to the counties & cities surrounding the urban core of St. Louis City

As a native St. Louisan from Arnold, MO and South County in general, I can say with the upmost integrity that St. Louis is mostly a shithole. Wentzville, St Charles, Maplewood, Kirkwood, Ladue, Clayton, Webster Groves, parts of South County, and some of the Central West End are exceptions.
