That guy always made my skin crawl as a kid. Maybe he was as nice as everyone claims, but when I was a kid, you'd have had to strap me down like Clockwork Orange to get me to watch that show.

I didn't watch the video but I hope her comments were mostly harmless. Fred Rogers means a great deal to those of us who watched his program as children. He provided a great and valuable service for the benefit of an entire generation. Not sure if children today still enjoy his content but their parents would fo well to share it with them.

That Emmy Awards Speech, where he asked everyone to think about for the moment, who all got them there. Still makes me tear up with the profundity of that gesture.

Mr Rogers loves to rob casinos and get into kung-fu fights in back alleys just for kicks. He was the original inspiration for Charles Bronson in Death Wish. True story! It’s on the internet now, it’s now a fact!

What great interview questions ! Respectful, but engaging - allowing a unique perspective instead of the generic pablum so common these days.

My favorite anecdotes from her about Fred were two things: 1. He thought farts were hilarious and would bust ass by her at public functions to mess with her. Which just makes me like the guy even more 2. When he was dying, his last words were to ask if he was a ‘sheep’ (meaning was he a good Christian and going to heaven). She responded ‘if anyone is, it’s you’ 😢

Values are not defined by religion. Humans are born pure and religion screws everything up.

This is where Mr. Rogers and I would have disagreed. Tom Hanks always pretty much plays Tom Hanks. He is not the kind of actor skilled enough to remove all "self" and become almost completely the character. We always are aware it's Tom. Also, as his career progressed, along with accolades, you could sense a puffing up--although false humility seemed ever present--like it does with so many of these modern Hollywood movie stars. The story of Forrest Gump was a pretty good one, but Tom Hanks and Sally Field both couldn't completely let go of themselves to blind us to the production of it. That's what is so great about books! We don't have to "see" the split personalities. Mr. Rogers was a wonderful man and human being. He was not perfect. He wasn't always right, but was very good at understanding children. He is sorely missed in this world!

Years ago, I lived in Pittsburgh where I attended school. And the WNED network was just down the street, on Forbes Avenue. And I volunteered on the Mr. Rogers Neighbourhood show. The room was huge with a vast number of staff working on the program, even though the overall feeling of the space was intimate and cozy. And Mr. Rohers was always smiling, calm, collected and, above all, warm-hearted.

Too bad Tom hanks is a very disgusting human and I have no doubt this will be proven. Mr. Roger’s was someone I grew up watching thru the early and mid eighties and I’m very thankful for.

Those are all tall tales, my buddy went to school near where Mr. Rodgers neighborhood was filmed. He was not a military marksman although he may have known his way around a gun, he did not have tattooed sleeves. He was just a man who happened to be a minister and who cared about children's education and morals.

I now want to write a short skit depicted a "BIG FIGHT" at the Rogers household and have it be the most civil, measured, wholesome, adult conversation about feelings possible. Like, I want "shucks" and "golly" to be the harshest words.
