although it is nice, I was thinking the same thing, I would have wasps and hornets filling those bottles with nests! But it is a nice idea, perhaps if it did have sealed-up colored water with a little rubbing alcohol so that it wouldnt freeze, they may help with thermal mass

C Chastant just use old bottles you find on the side of the road. talk to friends or family who have some laying around. salvage from recycle bins that are placed on the side of the road. thats the charm to this that each bottle has a story, not just to buy a whole lot of them and stick them on some cob. try this its free and i know u will like it

Zeke De la Cruz Finding the bottles is not an issue, Zeke; discovering the R value for them was my point. And so far I've not heard one word about how well it keeps the outside temperatures out, and the inside ones in, which is something I'd love to find out.

C Chastant Although I have not finished the insulation I do know that it stays comfortable in the heat. The cement in between the bottles is around 8 inches and once the roof insulation is complete (not shown in this video) I will get back with the question. Thanks for watching

Bottles can be buried in walls but the bottle openings need to be covered and buried into the wall. Otherwise, insects, spider, dust, water, et cetera get in. According to who? You can have fancy bottle walls in pretty much any design you can dream up but as long as the bearing wall supports are not compromised. There has to be a functional base structure established first, base frame can be real rock, real brick, block, cement with rebar, ect... but in between these supports walls that do not support the building can be as fancy as you can get em with no load depending on them, just need to be strong enough to support the wall itself and intruders, etc... I would build a wooden house inside of that huge house shell anyway. lol that huge bottle wall would be awesome buffer from the elements and help with temperatures being a shell inside a shell with a considerable air gap 10' all the way around the small wooden home inside, make a HUGE bottle house similar to this and it just be a shell for over the wooden insulated house inside the shell, like use it for a greenhouse that covers the wooden house. lol Have food growing between that huge structure and the house, it be like the entrance way, huge entrance way into the home, where the entrance
