I've just seen this today (I know I'm too late 😅) And was astounded with her rendition 💯. Watching this while peacefully having breakfast was a TERRIBLE idea, I ended up SOBBING instead 😂. So for those who read the comments first before watching, YOU'RE WARNED 😂. She'll surely dig up the wanted/unwanted emotions within you (which is a good thing). I've been watching this clip for at least five years. First, I love the fact that it was recorded clandestinely. I feel like I am in the audience peering over someone's shoulder. They didn't make this video for money. Second: Gosh! Who couldn't love Lea Salonga in this clip? She didn't even know anyone was recording her! Just a whole bunch of excellence here. Wish I had been in the audience... But this is the next best thing to traveling back 30 years.

Every moment Lea just evokes REALNESS. She evokes the spirit and passion of an Asian mother wanting her child to live the American dream. I believe It's why they casted her. At the Broadway Transfer, Actors Equity fought the broadway production very hard because the Engineer and Thuy actors we're too white and the actress(Lea) playing Kim wasn't a citizen. This is why there will never be anyone like Lea. The original production searched high and low in America and Britian to find a Realistic Kim. They finally went another route in search of non American or Non British Actresses. That point forward, they fought hard to have an Asian Immigrant play Kim. It was the best decision EVER. I still always believe there's just an understanding there that Asian Americans or Bi racial Americans just cannot grasp.

This is the very first thai bl movie that I watched. Though it did not have a happy ending but the love between the two characters were aesthetically crafted and very well portrayed. It leaves a small pang in the heart and will keep you feeling nostalgic for years.❤️

@@christiangerard395 most of bl during my time is quite depressing. Love Of Siam. No Regret. Bangkok Love Story. And the best for me is Eternal Summer. All of them are beautiful even though there's nothing but sadness that we can get out from those movies. It's good that now Thailand is producing a much happier genre for BL. As a teen gay guy 15yrs ago, I fought the idea that I can't be in a relationship without being affected by external factors such as society... Well I guess the movies back then prepared me for the sad reality. Society's prejudice is always a part of any gay relationship.
