Thank you so much for this video! Im very interested in getting started with midi. From this video, MC6 Pro will be my controller of choice. The flexibility and ease of use you've highlighted makes me feel confident about taking the step. My aversion to going with the loop switcher route was keeping my pedals engaged, and the uncertainty of what is in the active signal chain. Since, its primarily midi capable pedals I'd like to control, this unit would give me the flexible of using my pedals in classic stompbox fashion while also engaging presets. The potentials of using the extent of midi programmability while not tying myself into a system that will confuse my brain and workflow is very exciting.

Sounds amazing and great demo! Just ordered mine! Signalchain question, where do you start making your signal stereo? At the volante? And only one of both of the sides is reverbed? Thanks !

Great demo, I’m really loving mine, except for one thing…when the filter envelope is set to slow attack, I frequently get a glitchy popping sound, which ruins the beautiful swells. Has anyone experienced anything like this? I’m using flatwounds, could that be an issue?

I’m currently watching/listening to this as I’m typing this, and very much hoping this will help me get even a basic grasp on setting up my MC6 Pro. One thing I WISH Morningstar had was almost dictionary, of sorts, of all of the terminology used within the editor. I mean, Ideally, a straight up user manual INCLUDING a “dictionary” like that would be so very helpful for someone like me. I’m excited, though, to get into the meat of this video, as, based on the intro, it sounds like you use your MC6 Pro in a similar way that I’d like to….. even using some of the same pedals, like the Microcosm.

Fantastic demo, really loved the sound you got in the last couple minutes. Do you think there's any overlap between this and the SS/BS Mini?
@signalpath
@signalpath Ай бұрын
You know, the Mini is one of the glaring holes in my pedal experience, so I really can't say, but as far as my understanding for the mini goes, it seems the mini is more fuzz oriented, while even in the harder settings, this still feels quite overdriven. I think if you're looking for crazy, articulate texture this can definitely find some overlap, but I wouldn't be too sure how much!

Somehow I feel like the Zoia could have had a little place in this video. Based on its ability to achieve a lot of these ideas within itself.. and also its ability to morph and send VC/midi to anywhere else. The pedals in this video have given me some new ideas to attempt on my Zoia. Nice one!

It's very funny you say this because I was literally looking at Zoia on my desk last week thinking about how I have a patch saved to modify the pitch of the whammy V. Well I guess it just means we have to do a round 2!

The knob orientation is different than most pedals on this, I show the max several times on every knob except volume in the sound samples, the indicator placement just points differently than most drives out there
@hoover728

@@signalpath With this orientation, minimum is the pointer at 10 o'clock (as you show at 4:02 and 4:57) and max is 8. At no point do you turn any knob to 8 (or past 5 really) except volume (at 5:35). Correct me if I'm wrong?

Thank you! Yeah, it's really a fun little trick switch which you can play right on the edge between fuzz and overdrive / distortion. When you flick the bias switch and dial back Heart, you've got a huge variety of tones to play with there. Think John's managed to capture some really beautiful tones and the sounds in between as well.

@emptyheadeffects
@emptyheadeffects Ай бұрын
Lol It does sound great! I want to know if John used this on bass too or not? Because the pedal retains most if not all of the low end, (actually enhances it a lot of the time) it also works beautifully on bass and retains a big roundness and depth whilst giving you some of that upper range dirt and grit you want on bass drive to help cut through.

@@matttorrence2900 Just kidding, to each their own. I am not a purist or a nerd in any sense of the word, so the details of such things don't appeal to me personally - I am interested in a pedal as and when it inspires me to be creative, that it challenges me to behave differently, to play outside my comfort zone and challenges me sonically to use sounds that I might otherwise be uncomfortable or unfamiliar with. But sometimes a tube screamer et. al. is exactly what one needs and to many this is incredibly inspiring, so who am I to say otherwise if it brings creativity and inspiration to others in the pursuit or creative expression?

Is the Pome an expression pedal that is connected to another device by a single TRS cable? Or does it have a send & return? Can it do fixed rate as well, aside from dynamics of the signal?
@signalpath
@signalpath Ай бұрын
Yes, the Pome acts as an expression pedal via TRS, with the ring switch allowing for different configurations depending on how your pedal takes in expression With regards to the send and return question how do you mean? It passes audio whether the pedal is on or off, is that what you're referring to? It doesn't do any form of modulation outside of dynamics, but there's a fair amount you can achieve with that approach alone! Other expression ramper type devices may serve you a bit better if that's what you're looking for

Awesome!, finally a demo of this pedal with MUSICAL examples!, I'm still tempted on buying this as I already have Chase Bliss Mood Mk1 and MK2, Blooper, Habit, Hologram Microcosm and Hexe Revolver IV, lots of overlap but at the same time this could be a good option if I want to have a little of all those pedals in a single unit for a smaller pedalboard

I totally agree, it's not something that I feel like explores much that other pedals haven't but on the same token I feel like it has a very nice curation of different sounds that get you elements of many of the other pedals I enjoy in this genre of effects. @@signalpath I didn't really appreciate it until I programmed the sweep to have an organic ramp that starts slow and then speeds up. It really feels like someone turning a knob. Your solo lines are really interesting and musical. Lots of liquid, dynamic, and creative choices. The stuff around 12 minutes and for a few minutes has an unusual gating of the high end that reminds me of the roll off dial on the Shallow Water. The sound is underwater, trying to surface and then bursts above the waves periodically. These are the kinds of things that are getting my attention more lately in the pedal world. Tones that break up a little unpredictably, sputter crudely, but in elegant musical attire😂 Off to beat up my tele, droning out some weird pads into my lo-fi loop junky, and then firing crazy time based stuff to hear the rockets explode. That Chase Bliss exploration is bonkers beautiful and then (me back looking at the video), WHERE DID YOU GET THAT ZVEX LOOP JUNKY WITH THOSE CRAZY PERFECT GRAPHICS??? I didn't realize the most gorgeous version of my favourite pedal of all time was going to crash the party! Hey, this is beautiful stuff you are up to here; up my street musically...but please, tell me about that ZVEX. That should be the official graphic for such a tremendously creative, often misunderstood pedal masterpiece. Very inspirational work...we are in a new Golden Age of creative guitar FX, absolutely. Nice to hear artists making music worthy of the moment.
