@thorneworks
@thorneworks 2 жыл бұрын
@@philipp594 It has held up just fine and works just great. I do a lot of forge welding Damascus in it. To combat the erosion from flux, I just make a long thin "brick" out of castolite 30 with bubble alumina on top and this "brick" is replaceable. I do find the forge is pretty big at times. I may make a smaller version for when I'm doing smaller stuff.

Nice work man! You drive wheel is making a lot of vibrations...
@thorneworks
@thorneworks 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks. Actually it is not, ...it look like it is because there is an oversized pipe used as a spacer between the bolt and the drive wheel on the extra long shaft. It was easer to put on the spacer instead of cutting down the shaft and rethreading, or drilling the wheel and putting in a set screw. Thats all.
@mojamalaradionica5091
@mojamalaradionica5091 2 жыл бұрын
@@thorneworks if your grinder is vibrating, one wheels is not good. At 16:28 i can see that on drive wheels that shaft that sticks out is not centerd so rhat can be source of your vibration...
@thorneworks
@thorneworks 2 жыл бұрын
@@mojamalaradionica5091 Thats not the shaft sticking out that's seen, that is the pipe (oversized and not concentric, positioned just off centerline) over the shaft ... is used as a spacer. There are no noticable vibrations and it runs very smooth. There is quite a bit of mass that helps make it smoother too.

Is the width of the tenon 1/3rd of the width of the piece of wood?
@thorneworks
@thorneworks 3 жыл бұрын
Just so happens it is about 1/3. The intent is to be a 2" tenon placed 2-4" from outer edge. In this way variation in timber thickness does not influence positioning.
@michaelsrowland
@michaelsrowland 3 жыл бұрын
@@thorneworks so the piece of wood that you were using was 6 inches x6 inches. If you were using 8 inches x 8 inches, the tenon would still have been 2 inches but this time 3 inches on each side of it would have been cut out? 8 minus 2 equals 6 , divided by 2 =3
@thorneworks
@thorneworks 3 жыл бұрын
@@michaelsrowland No its not like that. The intent is not to make all of them in the center. The intent is to make all the mortises and tenons the same size and position form the same face. The outer face in this instance. Use the outer edge as a datum. Or base-line type of measuring. Alway measure from the outer edge. This way regardless of the size (as timbers can very anyway especially hand made) the tenon and the mortise will be positioned in the same spot in respect the outside of the frame. The inner sides are left to run wild and be what they are. So a beam may actually be 5-1/2", the 2" wide tenon and mortice is 2"-4 " from outer edge. if its actually 7" the mortise and tenon are the same 2"-4" from outer edge. And I f got a post that was even fatter on one end, say 8", the mortice and tenon with still 2"-4 " from outer edge. Yes off center. And by doing this, the entire frame is all even on the outside and will accept siding easily and smoothly.
@michaelsrowland

Can't stainless steel be used for both the chamber and nozzles? Are you using ceramic fibers into the mortar mix? What kind of spray did u use?
@thorneworks

Stainless wont hold up very long, ...it needs to be refractory. The fibers adder were glass fiber just to help give a bit more strength. And the spay I used was an industrial mold release.

@@thorneworks can stainless withstand for pizza oven temperatures? I was planning to use all stainless for a pizza oven using this ribbon burner concept. Pizza ovens does not go above 1,000 F.
@thorneworks
@thorneworks 3 жыл бұрын
@@ShopperPlug I would think for a pizza oven SS would be fine. Although a forced air ribbon burner is likely a bit of overkill for such an oven. A naturally aspirated system would work fine...a SS tube with a series of orifices should suffice.

I think you would want to use two of that size pipe nipple, and upsize the piping and blower upstream ....or use two blowers and 2" piping to each. I used 1-1/2 on this one and it works good for a burner about 12" long.
