@@patrickcarleton1073 both are incredible. You should do both for sure, but Sarbach is the better scramble in my opinion. It’s in my top 10 for sure

1:32 - Call me crazy, but some foreshortened route-finding here leads me to believe you could probably attack weaknesses in those rockbands and not have to descend all the way to the pond.

@@RockyMountainMan372 Hope I can give it a try sometime. I would go down to the col then up the easy terrain until the first real rockband obstacle. Traverse climbers left to find a weakness. Below the thickest rockband traverse the ledge all the way to rendezvous with the 'normal route' on the ridge and go up from there.

I'm rather ashamed to say I've never been to Waterton. Grew up in Calgary (1980-2005) then Vancouver and Japan life until coming back in 2017. Perhaps 2025. I have done Banff, little bit Yoho, Jasper and Kootenay Ntl parks, plus TONS of Kananaskis (my favorite) and Crowsnest Pass. Can't believe I never made it down to Waterton.

Nice video - would have been to cover/focus on key elements of the route a little more. Which trail did you follow (ex Alltrails)? Or just wing it on follow sparse markers? And how was the descent?

2:52 - Many of the Scrambles books by Alan Kane published 2003 or earlier that note bushwacking now have unoffical trails. Thank in large part to us 'trailblazers' of the 90's and 00's, lol ;)

9:29 my favorite part of this view is the view of Peyto Lake and knowing the hordes of people on that platform viewpoint and scattered below that; such a sad state of affairs imho. But then nobody up here on Observation Pk enjoying a much MUCH better view which to me is pure bliss.

Such a beast, quite the 2 day trip for sure. Not for the faint of heart. Great accomplishment1 The smokey days being the norm now just plain sucks. I recall scrambling in the 90's and early 00's not having smoke as a factor.

That’s a good one. It was a long day for us. Spectacular down-climbing. Down-climbing on the way up, up-climbing on the descent! We came across a grizzly bedding area. Big craps everywhere. Super noisy and vigilant in the area. Did you like the bolder field?

Yes that was different, usually you do the down climbing on descent haha. The boulder field wasn’t too bad, at least they were somewhat stable. A very long day but happy to do it.

I've been in the area along Evan Thomas creek numerous times, I've only seen an old black bear scat (small) once. Never thought of grizzlies in the area. Perhaps they moved in lately

Hey, another awesome Scramble, well done! I'm now 43 yrs old, have been scrambling since I was around 10 yrs old. I feel (almost) like I've 'done it all' in the Rockies, at last all I can but not quite yet ;) My favorite scramble lately is Mt French. Robertson would be awesome too (saw you did that last year). Thinking of doing Mt Foch, perhaps solo. Not sure though if you may like to join me on that one.

I was just exploring on google earth and found this mountain and just knew it would be an incredible mountain to summit, if possible. So i came to youtube to see if anyone's done it and found this! Incredible. So cool you did it!
