Mount Norquay Scramble (South Ridge Route)

Scrambling starts right from the highway pretty much on this route, but beware of ticks as I found 3 on me, yikes! First time using a GoPro which was a lot of fun. I did grab on to a rock I thought was solid and it dislodged, these things happen in the mountains & it's very important to learn lessons in order to try and prevent it from happening in the future by thoroughly checking holds. Thankfully I wasn't seriously injured & I was close to the ground, if I was high up this could have been way worse so I'm counting my blessings. Otherwise it was a fantastic scramble in perfect conditions & I would most likely do it again someday. Song is Magic Hours by Explosions In the Sky.

Been enjoying your videos for a while (and your music selection!). I wanted to say that I respect you for posting your fall, and I especially admire your attitude afterward. Something similar happened to a buddy of mine this last season. He was the caboose following me and another friend up a section of scrambling when he checked for, trusted, and then pulled on a rock that dislodged, causing him to take a tumble. Fortunately, as was for you, the fall wasn't 'off' anything. It was a very scary moment, and I'm thankful all he took away from it physically was some bruising, a few small cuts, and a minor shoulder injury. However, you could tell he was pretty rattled and, worse yet, he felt ashamed. This is why I very much admire the grace you had for yourself- accepting that it occurred, recognizing it was scary, but understanding that there's something to be taken from it, and it's not fear.

Thanks for tuning in & for the nice words. Sometimes these things happen and can stick with a person for a long time. Being paralyzed by fear while climbing with exposure or in a place where I had the accident is never a good thing. Confidence is key, and knowing that we make mistakes, learning from it and moving on is best. Happy your friend was ok!

Great video Logan, especially including the dislodged rock. Great response! I have had a couple close calls similar to this as well as failed summit attempts which I documented (Bogart). They are humbling but as you say great learning experiences for ourselves as well as those tuning in. Best of luck. Love the vids!

2:00 At age 43 I have had my fair share of mistakes on mountain scrambles for sure! Some very near misses to where a painful slip is just that and not fatal.
