Great video. What was the use of the parts you left out of the lower chamber of the lamp before adding the carbide?

Hi, there's a spring ad a plate that's a bit broken on my lamp, I assume it goes over the carbide just to hold it in place as this type of lamp would have been on a bicycle bouncing around so no need for it when only lighting it for fun

@@v12jagster thanks for the reply. My spring is intact but the plate has corroded. Now I know it'll work without these parts fitted I'll try mine out.

v12jagster ok thanks I'm trying to figure out how to clean my reflector up it appears to be aluminium and is terribly dull. I'm wondering how your one is looking so shiny. Is your one chrome plated or well polished aluminium? Thanks in advance.

@@zolinator it's just well polished

v12jagster thanks I will try a few methods to get it polished. Just one other thing I don't suppose you know how the gems on either side are removed? I ask as it would appear the gems on my light have been incorrectly installed somewhere along the line as they are wrong way round for port/starboard. Thanks for replying so quick.

@@zolinator not 100% sure on gem removal, never had mine out but they look like theres a metal rim holding them in from the outside, may just be pressed in doesn't look like the metal rim unscrews, just be VERY careful as the last thing you want to do is crack one as they are hard to replace. Red should be on the left green on the right (as you sit on the bike with the lamp in front of you) you have an early one as from the 20s I think they had green on both sides as red was more recognised as a rear light.

This is priceless! Very enjoyable. The Jetex car needs a very (very) smooth surface to show what it can do!
