stripped the car, cleaned & polished what I could. had to repair the boiler as it was leaking through the sight glass also I swapped the silver Cowell for a brass one so had to remove the rear rivets to facilitate this, all rebuild and air tested in the sink.
repainted the coachwork in satin Black and repainted the red wheels and chassis rails.
drilled out every rivet and replaced with brass nuts n bolts. re routed the 2 exhaust pipes from the chassis to underneath the car, they're only soft so jus carefully bent them into place, used some 5mm internal diameter 8mm external diameter copper pipe for new rear exiting exhaust (the best mod for these cars) the 5mm id pipe just slipped over the 2 original pipes then a dob of solder.
fitted 2 servos, one for steering and the other for forward/reverse. few other mods from ebay:- windscreens, starter handle, driver etc. the remote control works so well and makes it much more usable even though its gonna be sitting on a shelf.
