A lot of this information is incorrect. The 386 wasn’t introduced until 2007 and wasnt the first attempt at an aerodynamic truck. Also the 379 was introduced in late 1987 you never even made a portion of the video about the 389. Or any of the special edition trucks. the 359 was far more popular than the 358 and the mx engine was introduced in 2013.. you forgot a lot of peterbilt history. Poor video

I am a Peterbuilt 379 guy with a C-15 Cat motor and 15 speed Eaton transmission. I drove a 21 speed Spicer transmission for awhile and it was pretty darn good.

in my personal opinion Peterbilt screwed up in three places ... The largest was selling to PACCAR. The second was the MX engine series ... should have stuck with Cummins. The third and perhaps most egregious screw up was that god aweful transmission .. And before any of you decide to talk crap on this comment .. i am in fact a truck driver, have been since 2004. Driving truck is a job, and while yes I like being comfortable while driving, its still a job, and PACCAR and most importantly Peterbilt seems to have forgotten that.

Cabover trucks were not popular because they were easier to maneuver. They were popular due to length laws. 53' was the maximum length, truck and trailer combined, that you could be without a permit. That's the reason cabovers were so popular. Now you can have as long of a tractor as you want but trailers cannot be longer than 53' without a permit. You guys should really learn your history before you try to teach it...

Watching these ancient machines reminds me of a friend whose father worked with one of the oldest steam-powered cranes in our town. When his father passed, he dedicated months to restoring the machine, not just to honor his dad but to keep a part of history alive. Seeing it in action again brought tears to everyone who remembered its legacy.

What you missed was Joseph (always known as Joe) who had been in the family business Bamfords Ltd (which made agricultural equipment) since 1935 in Uttoxeter, left the firm (1948) to start his own very successful excavator manufacturing company J.C. Bamford (Excavators) Ltd. The original Bamford Ltd continued until 1978. In November 1967, J.C. Bamford (Excavators) Ltd. made an offer for the company's whole share capital. The Board of Bamfords Ltd. reacted unfavourably to this bid, as J.C. Bamford (Excavators) Ltd. had failed to obtain sufficient acceptance from their shareholders which resulted in the bid being finally withdrawn.

Very interesting, and informative video. Thank you for posting. May I suggest that the person reading the script consider evaluating and improving speaking quality. The delivery is fair, but quickly becomes hard to listen to. Speaking quality could be improved in several areas. Hopefully you will find this a helpful suggestion that will contribute to your success. Regards.
