Adrenaline Rush and other skills that boost stats on being hit shine really well when you have another character who has Guts/Battle Skills that can throw a rock their way on their off turns. Minimal damage, you can be considerably far from them and still be actively getting to the fight. I also often favor Reflexes over Blade Grasp because for Blade Grasp to be truly all around viable it does require you to tank faith, and I'd prefer not to. I'd rather have the flexibility to be able to take heals, or change that character into a magic-casting class if I still want to without grinding their faith all the way up, or equipping a faith rod or whatever.

Wiegraf is easily one of the most tragic characters in story telling in general. He put his life on the line and fought for Ivalice during the 50 years war, was forced into the streets along with the soldiers who fought under him, tries his best to fight for what he and his men are owed as well as better conditions for the common people, loses his friends along the way, his men are all killed or forced into hiding, and he loses his sister. With nothing left to lose, the Templars' offer seemed like a great opportunity to not only get vengeance for his sister, but resume his fight against the nobility, only to fall further and become a hollow vessel for Belias. So now everything this man has lost was sadly in vain...

If you're looking to have 1 or 2 Dark Knights around or before Chapter 3, the grind is worth it. If you're just trying to clear the game at a steady pace or speed run, skip this class. Personally, I love the Dark Knight class

There are so many great characters in this story.

Unpopular opinion, I like Dycedarg and I kind of agree with him. I mean as far the nobles in the game goes outside of Cid he is probably the best choice to rule Ivalice in place of the royal family who let's be honest are awful at least the Queen is. Duke Larg is dependent on Dycedarg all Dycedarg did was cut him out of the equation and Goltana is a fool who trusted an upstart rather than heeding his most trusted general at the cost of his life. Dycedarg did all the politicing for the family so he has first hand experience with the nobility and their nonsense. Zalbaag likes to think he is better but if you aren't family you are fodder to him. And Ramza is naive and he knows it partially why he became a mercenary. The only really awful thing Dycedarg did was poison his father who might not have been as good a person as we think. After all while Dycedarg and Zalbaag are full blooded brothers Ramza and Alma are only his and Zalbaag's half-siblings and it was loosely implied it was an affair with a commoner that lead to their birth. An affair usually implies the wife, Dycedarg's mother in this case, was still alive at the time which very well could have been what lead to her death. Keep in mind Dycedarg is quite a bit older than even Zalbaag so he probably saw it all go down from start to finish. So he could have more motivation for killing his father than just wanting power. After all he does keep his promise to his father in stepping aside to allow Zalbaag to lead their order of knights, gives Ramza and Alma a comfortable life from what we see, and not once does he directly target Ramza up until this breaking point in the game where Zalbaag and Ramza are trying to kill him at which point he must defend himself. Yes, he does get possessed meaning he does have darkness in his heart but once possessed they aren't the same person anymore. I mean just look at Wiegraf and his change. He talks about ruling over the weak and common people but without a leader society crumbles, anarchy becomes rampant, and the world falls apart cause humans are animals and just the worst unless reigned in. So yeah I can see why he'd believe is doing the right thing. He's no worse than Delita who ended up hailed as a hero. It just we are meant to not like Dycedarg so we only see his bad side.

1] Ramza: squire + time (or monk --> off healer) targets (monk/steal --> who does the deed) with speed up (yell). 2] Monk(f): (steal) every turn (or heal/rez on emergency) concentration/attack up is beneficial for steals and teleport/move + 2 for mobility. High speed stat from lvl up/down stat-maxing is possible. 3] Cid: (+ time/oracle) uses slow/stop/don't move/quick/demi2 or faith(pray -->Beowulf, doubt -->Elmdor after he is debuffed (speed/chicken) to lower his damage from draw out) He can/should (stop/stone, paralyze/slow) ninjas to make them less of a threat (if you want to strip them also of gear). They will have barette/cachusha for certain. Btw he/Beowulf is standing guarding on @zz of monk for passive heals/mp regen. 4] Beowulf: (+ time/oracle) uses slow/stop/don't move/(don't act/petrify)/quick/demi2 or faith(pray --> self), chicken -->Elmdor (very important participant). 5a] knight(f) (+ time/oracle) can/should (stop/stone, paralyze/slow) ninjas/Elmdor(slow only) after reducing speed with speed break (mind/power break, option) This is a safer replacement for Cid with better functionality (imo) 5b] Rafa: (low brave for items/find and high faith for (persuade ct 0) --> mediator) with speed gear and keep Elmdor on her/away from the group (back to walls while she is working) (An option if space is available) This was my party/setup (catch for throw weapon defense (ninja alive) is viable, or auto-potion). I had no stress during the fight. Focus and take care of problems.

I think the support abilities are really the staples of this games seemingly infinite customization. Support abilities have always felt like THE deciding factor in most character builds in this game, and really help you differentiate your characters from one another.

Solid list, I would swap a few things. Right off the bat, beastmaster to situational since you said its function is based of having a monster in the party. Concentration to A, it’s on par with swiftness and helps when boosting allies brave/faith or lowering enemies stats and enfeebling them. It’s amazing paired with calculator where swiftness has no function. Also, unlike the attack boost options which become obsolete if you do a max stat run, concentrate will always add value by increasing the hit rates. I would put equip guns into situational as well because there are a few battles where you start at a range disadvantage and this can compensate for that.

Double hand the defender with weapon guard and a feather mantle and it’s 0% to be hit from the front I think it’s 20% from side. Also decent magic evade with the mantle. I think it gives 40%

LOOOOOOOOOOOONG POST incoming: I won't say Beastmaster is S Tier, but Dark Whisper looks sick. One of the more effective uses is when you're leveling down a character and have a handful of mindflayers, but that is only one of the perks. It definitely makes behemoth class a lot more terrifying, especially after playing through Valeria. ^^; Their nanoflare attacks can wipe out your whole party in an instant. It really is a little sad that Crossbows are weaker than Longbows, but that's also part of why Archers have innate equip shields due to still being able to attack decently but have more defensive options, so I don't disagree with your placement. Also, you're mostly using a lot more power AND both hands for a longbow irl and in game. Now, if it were Equip Bows (both crossbows AND longbows, then it'd be a little higher on the list) I will SLIGHTLY disagree with Equip Swords and Guns as I feel they are mostly ideal in being Lower part of B Tier or Situational on the list. They both are decent early on, don't really have too much of a bite but help get the job done, but they both become very beneficial once you're in Ch. 4. SITUATIONAL: Having Ice Brand/Glacier Gun + Black Robe, especially when (SITUATIONAL) you have a character low on HP w/ Ice Shield (or a Blaze Gun with Flame Shield) or encountering enemies that have Fire/Bolt/Ice weanesses (No flame sword, only flame hammer and that's just mid). (That Elemental Healing playthrough I did was pretty fun.) And then there's the weather elemental boosts. Lower B: While Guns are relatively weak when you first get them in the mid/late half of Ch. 2, they're basically a guaranteed hit while keeping Chemists and other support away from ranged attacks. (In PSX, they can help boost gil with you dupe/sell them for 2500gil, Ch. 3 purses are just better) Unless you get really lucky with the Behemoth poaching in PSP Ch. 3, you'll have to deal with the slightly better Mythril Gun which isn't much and falls off compared to other attacking methods before getting the spell guns in Ch. 4, which will help out Mustadio, Blathier and your mages A LOT w/ Black Robe. Spell guns effectively help DURING the Beowulf sidequest (Glacier Gun from battle 2 makes poaching the plagues and ochus when saving Reis with that Glacier Gun much easier) It's even more useful in the PSP/Android version once you get the Fomalhaut. (I think it's 324 base dmg before zodiac compat and other variables are thrown into the mix) (Currently using a W. Mage with crossbow now gun, originally tried for a Rosa FF4 build... but Crossbows are limited in atk damage and spell guns < Gastrafitis. :/ ) Swords can help compensate with melee, especially if your monk/melee has low brave rendering Brawler of it's effectiveness. It also helps a lot with Ivalice's Next Top Model Argrias Mother F*king Oaks and Ch.4 recruits with grinding out jobs for them while they gain other suitable Support for their main classes. Rune Blade is kinda nice to have with 14 ATK and +2MA (PSP Moonblade 20 ATK + Haste is pretty sweet). While the damage difference wouldn't be too much of an issue for Cid, Agrias definitely benefits as either a Monk/Thief/Ninja as they're faster and have more strength than her initial class, with the twist headband, power sleeve and bracer equipped. (Especially in PSP with the Tynar Rouge and Moonblade.) Equip Spears: Nothing to critique, but I do agree it's pretty useful as I'm using it on a Thief in a current playthrough based on your build videos. Half MP I can't really argue with it too much, but it helps out on saving Ethers/Hi-Ethers and Elixirs until endgame and postgame (PSP). It mainly shines in battles where it takes more than one summon or high MP costing spells to clear the map. But late/end/post game, Swiftness does become superior after you have so much MP boosting equipment. Can't really complain on Equip Shields since, well, shields aren't really all that great in the beginning, but they get a little better in Ch. 3 and then really stand out in mid/late Ch. 4 you can get the Z.Escutcheon or Kaiser Plate then they're pretty darn useful... BUT then you can't equip Maintenance/Safeguard to prevent them from being stolen/broken. Although it could be placed as high as Low C tier. Better than Axes and Crossbows imo. IMO the most effective use for Equip Shield, although it would HINDER other more effective class builds, would be either mid Ch. 3/Late Ch. 4 on a Thief or Ninja eq: Aegis Shield/Z. Escutcheon with Reflexes/Abandon or Shirahadori/Blade Grasp and an Elf Mantle/Feather Mantle. Not only are you're gonna be harder to land an attack on, but getting your equip stolen/broken will be harder, not impossible, for enemies to accomplish. (We've all seen some 3-11% chances on stealing/dodging an attack succeed. I think I saw someone hit a 3% on you in one of your videos) (That Elf mantle works a lot better than that 25% says. Feather mantle's a bit better as well.) Equip Ribbon would be nice. Solid list, sorry for the long post. Wish I knew how to make it shorter but I felt if I didn't explain WHY, it'd feel a little empty.

So I am going to let you know about sword of convallaria. You can do the whole pve without spending. There is the energy system that would limit your play time daily, and of course, it's online only... The pvp i have not done yet but you can very easily whale out and spend hundreds of thousands of dollars it would seem. I do not know yet how they would split pvp... whales vs other whales or everyone vs everyone. But you can definitely get a huge advantage depending on how much you want to spend

Equip Crossbow and guns, could be in situational. The ability to reach out and potentially break speed can make some fights significantly easier. Breaking wiegrafs speed in any fight can make him into a non issue.

Huh, I did not know that's how defend worked, that's pretty interesting. Just went on WotL and tested it with Reflex combined with a feather mantle, turns out literally every blockable move - be it physical or magical, from the front to the back - has a 0% chance to hit. Not all that useful since you can't act (you have to spend a turn defending) and plenty of moves are unblockable (holy, geomancy, characters with concentrate, etc.), but it's still a very funny little niche for the ability. Since it's completely bravery independent I could see this being useful for your move find item character; being unhittable while moving about the field looking for rare items could be useful!

I remembered PS1's description of Beastmaster (called Monster Skill back then) misleading me into thinking that it could work on an ally monster 3 tiles away from you lol overall, the skill is great, though wished the skill had the bonus range like I mistaken it had instead of the monster needing to be next to the unit with the skill in order for them to unlock their final skill. Heck, monsters have a lot going against them already vs human units. why not just give them their secret skill permanently? I've always wondered about Arcane Strength vs Equip Shield + Aegis Shield, which is stronger on my Iaido Black Mage? another thing I've always wondered is Shirihadori vs Concentration. Don't play a lot of PVP, and never tried it against the Elmdore fight so never knew which beats which
