Great explanation as usual, do you anticipate having to make any adjustments with the heads as ping are selling them as standard at 46 inches this year which I think is crazy for the average golfer and I know PG builds to 45 inches for Drivers

I wish Ping hadn't built draw bias into their more lofted hybrids. There are a lot of older golfers who can't sustain launch and spin in order to game anything longer than a modern 6 or 7 iron. Most go to hybrids in the middle of the bag. Many of them are formerly good players with decent deliveries and don't need a club that wants to go left. Just give us a perfectly neutral head.

I agree…… but I just take 1 notch of loft of it, and the club looks way better

I've always liked Cleveland fairways; still have a Launcher driver and Launcher 5w in my cupboard and will occasionally take the FW onto the course. Will be interesting to see how popular these new clubs become. Currently use Miz wedges but previously had a set of Cleveland wedges which I also liked a lot.

My guess is irons will sell and continue to gain market share. Woods and hybrids will gather dust. They market their irons well, they perform great and at a slightly decreased price compared to the big boys. They seem like Japanese titleist, without the wood following.

Simon, is it your understanding that you can purchase two equal weights for the standard head so that you can have neither a draw bias nor a fade bias? Is the head neutral by itself, or does the head have internal weighting that gives it a draw bias?

That was quite fun! I played with a guy once who had a 72° wedge, and he used it for every single shot around the greens. And there were a lot of said shots, because he only hit a few greens in 18 holes. "This is my baby!" he said. Mostly he used his baby to take enormous manhole cover divots and chunk the ball a few feet in front of him. And he didn't fix them and made a mess of a very nice golf course. The combination of idiocy and entitlement was truly impressive! I did try to hit a flop shot with it - the ball popped up about ten feet in the air and came back down to rest exactly where it had been at address.

Good run down Simon. I hit these a few months ago in Aus, great feeling irons, even the 4’s and all paired well with the DG mids for me at least. Ended up with the Blueprint S. would love to see a vid of your thoughts on them v say the Zxi7 T100 243 or any other comparable irons you think fit the bill. Great channel!

Club speed is irrelevant on off-center hits. Hence, the forgiveness. It’s about the efficiency/smash factor, std deviation for distance and dispersion. Spin can also be addressed by choice of ball and choice of shaft.

Great rundown of the range. They've had some of the best looking clubs. I sure wish I got along better with the v sole of the irons.. I have a hard time for whatever reason out in the course. I love a preworn leading edge, but the v sole just doesn't work for me. I've given up. Interestingly xxio irons have a much milder version that works better. I also notice their superstar on tour Hideki uses a unique set of their irons without the v sole! Would love such an option for the rest of us but the v sole must work well for more people than not.

Nice to see a brand that perhaps doesn't get the major attention of the others like Mizuno, Taylor Made and Titleist, on the channel. The range looks good and I'm pretty keen to see how you get on with the high toe, full faced wedges in review.

very interesting Simon. The issue for me is that most soft flex shafts are also lighter. I play an M2 9 wood that is designated a "ladies" club. The flex is very soft but the bigger issue is that it has a 45g shaft as opposed to my other fairways which have 65g shafts. I'll get it changed at some point!

So, how do we practice in the winter? Dont have access to a grass range (not that they would be open) ranges using range balls are pointless so i guess its a similator with real balls at £20 an hour. I got "fitted" at an AG store with range balls and they said i needed a low spin driver as i was in tbe 4000 range for spin. When i got properly fitted i actually needed a lower spin driver as my tendency is to hit low left hooks with sub 1000 spin.
@Precision_Golf
@Precision_Golf 2 күн бұрын
You can use range balls for start line and general shot shape/direction even with wedges but if you want distance measurements then an indoor bay with proper balls and spin measurements is the best way.

Driver, 5w, 7w, 9w 5-pw, 50, 54 and 58 for me. I like the idea of hybrids but they just go low and left for me. Find lodted fairways much easier to use. I think i need tbe extra spin that a fairway gives . I also hit a low ball so the hybrid is just not the one

That makes sense and the lofted woods definitely are less draw bias than lofted hybrids

@Precision_Golf yes, although I have been careful which ones I choose. The pings are great as you can set them up in a flat lie setting. I have g430 5&7 currently but would love a 9 at some point. Playing an old TM M2 hl 7 wood currently which has 24 degrees of loft but a 45g ladies shaft in it which isn't ideal. It's my 180-185 club which replaces a 4 iron I guess

Talking of extremes Simon, I'm currently playing Project X LZ 6.5 125g shafts 2 inches over standard with a swing weight of E8. I'm having a club built up to the same length but with a Nippon Modus 105 X swing weighted to C9 so I can add weight to the head in order to find the optimal impact conditions and hopefully, more ball speed.
@Precision_Golf
@Precision_Golf 3 күн бұрын

It would be interesting seeing the difference between using a new ball and one that has become scuffed or been used for several rounds. The new ball will (presumably) perform better but is there really much of a difference for the average amateur golfer? What part of the game is likely to show the largest difference?
@Precision_Golf
@Precision_Golf 2 күн бұрын
Data-wise it would not be big differences but the scuffed and worn cover would affect flight stability so would lose a bit of yardage and directional consistency but for the average golfer it would not be huge unless it was particularly knackered!

@Precision_Golf

We felt that when it is raining heavily both the face and the ball are wet so this would be the best test but was taking it to more of an extreme based on the video subject. Thank you for watching though and appreciate you taking the time to comment

@@Precision_Golf Ah i was thinking more like when the ball is wet due to damp conditions rather than raining. It would be a true test of how effectively the club channels moisture away on impact imo.

Enjoyed the video. It would seem that the difference in a new wedge is only marginal spin retention in wet weather ? I wonder why the pro's change them so frequently ? To promote wedge sales ?
@Precision_Golf
@Precision_Golf 3 күн бұрын
No - they practice so much they wear the grooves more quickly and to keep optimal spin levels they need new wedges more often. With the pin positions and firm greens they play if they did not change as often they would be giving up performance.

Very informational! So genuine question: what is the highest wedge loft for maximum spin?
@Precision_Golf
@Precision_Golf 3 күн бұрын
That is correct …. To a point. It is why most brands stop at 60 degrees as too much loft means the ball slips up the face so the ball launches high but the spin does not go up.
@Precision_Golf
@Precision_Golf 3 күн бұрын
@@zazhou sorry I slightly misread the question. Generally 60 or 62 degrees is the highest loft for most players but it does depend on technique as well
