Thanks a lot. I'm writing an essay about this topic for a Bachelor thesis and it was really helpful :)

Thank you for explaining it in much simpler language! And the examples from the movies and paintings were amazing; they really helped me understand the theory much better.

I’m surprised that I just discovered this account. It’s great .. really great.. I think Mr Garry you need support from graphic experts who can be partners with you and take your presentations to another level. What’s presented is good enough but if you want to attract more subscribers you need just a bit more. Good luck. 😊

Have visited Neuschwanstein and all Gaudi’s works in Barcelona Gaudi work is far more organic and inspired by nature and it’s forms. Hard to believe that almost a century since his death that our landscape is blighted with such unimaginative building forms. I live in a house built in 1853 with high ceilings and good size rooms and they are a far cry from the 2.4 derisory heights found in most homes being built today. It’s as if there was a tax on height when all it takes is another couple of courses of concrete blocks. Niggardly uninspiring and mean approach. It’s shocking what passes for architecture today

I bet someone has done it already but could we make a natural Brise Soleil using specific plants that would climb on some kind of frame?

Yes, this has been attempted quite a few times. It's a really nice way to make a brise soleil.

@@garrymileyarchitect can you give an example of a building where this was used? I couldn't find anything
@garrymileyarchitect Жыл бұрын
@@maxfrompoland2720 Check out this page www.pinterest.com/anthonysvelto/plant-brise-soleil/ you'll find several examples. Traditionally, vines and similar plants have been trained to grow over pergolas so that their leaves provide protection from the sun in the summer months. You find this quite a bit in Mediterannean countries

Some great ideas here, especially about relocating the Dail back to its original location 👌
@garrymileyarchitect2 жыл бұрын
Cheers Mark. Yeah, I really do think moving the Dail back to College Green is something we should think seriouslly about. The old Parliament building is right in the very centre of the city and there's nothing going on there at all. It's a lovely building but it makes no contribution. There's a lot we could do in Dublin (the other cities too) to make life more exciting but there doesn't appear to be any ambition whatsoever.

Enjoyed the video! I hope to visit Rome at some point this year. Can you do something on Paris at some point? I visited Paris back in June. I enjoyed the nice avenues and found it very walkable too, I mostly stayed around Saint Germain and Montparnasse.
@garrymileyarchitect2 жыл бұрын
Thank you for the nice comment! Yes, we plan on making one on Paris but it may take a little while. It's fun making the videos but they take a bit of time. I'm planning to make one about some of medieval towns to the north of Paris like Rouen. They're really amazing little towns with lots of interesting architecture but somehow manage to be under appreciated.

These explanations and definitions mean the world to me. It's been so hard to find a teacher with a true sense of how and why humans use space. I really struggled in a formalist setting and quit architecture school. I truly appreciate your Udemy course and these videos.
