8 Things We Should Do With Dublin

Dublin is a nice city but a dull capital. These are 8 things I think we could consider to make it more exciting.

Thanks for those ideas, Garry. Moving Parliament seems radical but is logical. Dublin Castle is a hidden gem and needs to be opened up. A more vibrant holistic vision of the City is needed. Again thanks Joe

Yes, Joe, that's the main point I was trying to get across. We need a vision or a sense of direction for Dublin. We need something that we can aspire to.

Cheers Mark. Yeah, I really do think moving the Dail back to College Green is something we should think seriouslly about. The old Parliament building is right in the very centre of the city and there's nothing going on there at all. It's a lovely building but it makes no contribution. There's a lot we could do in Dublin (the other cities too) to make life more exciting but there doesn't appear to be any ambition whatsoever.

Great ideas! I would also make O'Connell Street more like the Champs Elysées...upmarket shopping with lovely cafes...perhaps even pedestrianise

Hi Orlagh, yeah we really need to think very seriously about O'Connell Street. It used to (almost) work back in the day but we seem to be going backwards. I'm not sure that introducing the Luas was a great idea

Someone with vision at last. It sounds great, but I think housing our homeless should be a priority. Then all those suggestions would be brilliant.

Actually you're dead right. Housing should be number one on the list. The right to a decent place to live should be in the constitution. If we can't make sure everyone has a house, then what are we ever at?
