No PPE? The NCO crew chief in me wants to rip your ass a little bit. Seriously, wear safety glasses. When I was 17 I had to take trip to the ER with two eyes full of rust flakes. They anesthetized my eyes to get them out, but the next day my eyes were on fire.

Would you be interested in rebuilding mine? Unit is out, could ship. 1990 Toyota ex cab, pickup, 3.0, V6, 2wd. I have the rebuild seal kit. These pickups were same model 1989 to 1995. However, in my research, the SR5, 4Runner and 4x4 pickups and some 2.4 liter four cylinder, 2wd all use the same box, but mine is different PS gearbox, however, rebuild should be near identical.

@@GereDJ2 I was bored so I rebuilt it for something to do. Pump stayed. No I haven’t had a gearbox go out on me 🤞🏼

Clean car including underneath first ffs😢. Nothing like filling up eyes and face etc with dirt, plus getting dirt into brake lines and new clean proportioning valve. Replace brake fluid in reservoir and Bleed brakes first until clean. Stops crap getting into new valve.

Trying to source the o ring for the seal between the main body assy and the pitman seal side. Likely a 70ish mm o ring

My son did his. He warned me first to spray down all nuts bolts etc with innox or wd40 a few days before
@judysummers4178Ай бұрын
Yep my son did his n told me to do same. And use spray when doing, rock nuts back and forth to not break bolts.

This is the most entertaining and more of how it will be for me with my Sequoia compared to the other videos I have been watching. I personally will be using a silicone based grease as petroleum based greases will deteriorate the urethane. I just hope the old bushings come out as simple as it was for you as well.

You do NOT want to lubricate the outside of the rubber bushing...don't want that rotating around! If anything, do the opposite...glue it to the clamp.

I love cars like that, easy rack and pinion bushing remplacment and also easy rack and pinion replacement, some cars are pain in the back, you have to remove a lot of parts, and may be the whole fram to just replace the rack and pinion or just their bushing.

Should not use greese on organic compounds like rubber, it dissolves the rubber. Stuff like slicone greese is more ideal. If its a silicone bushing then normal greese is fine.

i made the mistake of doing it myself in a driveway and getting it out from the bottom, what i bolitch it was but i did it in 3 1/2 hours i did it myself in my driveway with not all the right tools but i managed to do it mine was particularly stressful because the previous owner had the exhaust done and it had a lip on it that i was fighting i had no choice but to just pull the steering rack lines out of the way and i finally go it out then i had my dad hold the new one in place from the side as i tightened the bolts from the bottom everything was plug and play but god damn fuck that sway bar i fraught it bad to get it back on
