How does the love hold the weight? Does not having a subframe challenges the amount of weight you can carry? Thanks!
@biboandagape
@biboandagape Күн бұрын
@TheMrterry13 It holds it very well. In my view, even better than an aluminum subframe often prone to crack, that's why a rear rack is often used. On the Kove having the rear tank as subframe is a plus. I never heard anybody cracking it, even on rallies with a full tank. Anyway, I only keep 3-5 lt in the rear tank and my combined luggage weight doesn't exceed 20 kg.

Hi! What do not understand: why use these wheels no spokes "outside" the inner part of the wheel? My old BMW from 1993 had spokes which had been mounted at the "outside" edge of the wheel to enable tubless usage . Why do these bikes have the spoke nipples in the center of the wheel?
@biboandagape
@biboandagape 18 күн бұрын
@freedomandbike Hi, the tangent spokes are for tubeless rims. Normally, tubeless rims are mounted on road touring bikes. Enduro and MX bikes mount a different rim, that's why rims have to be converted to tubeless by sealing all the nipples, if that's what one wants.

Hmmm, interesting idea to combine mousse and air. Will there be enough volume for air while using mousse? To use that setup combination means to use mousse behond specification. Could be critical. I additionally found on michelin homepage that mousse is not specified for use onroad. They have mousse for SAND, HARD, MUD, SOFT, MEDIUM HARD usage. Which one to use? What about the usage of GEL which is recommended by michelin? On the other hand: how likely is a puncture with a tube - even when using a lightweight tube. And if: is it really exhausting or critical to change tubes while beeing offroad?
@biboandagape
@biboandagape Ай бұрын
@freedomandbike Hi. If you do long traveling, especially in remote areas, you may get punctures. You may be lucky - 15k kms in India and no punctures - or may be not - in Namibia 2 punctures in one week. And you need to be able to fix them, so you need tools and spares. Even if you find a shop, they may not have the proper tool for the wheel or the right size spare tube. In terms of mousse + air, it's definitely possible to use air. You employ a pressure lower than a tube; gel is still used, but it's the air that keeps from overheating; no rim locks are used. For advice on mousse specs and model, I highly suggest you to get in touch with Raidek. He is professional and friendly.

Hello Bibo! Again thanks a lot for sharing this information with us. Still it is not easy to find a base bike for long travelling and to setup it up without changing too much. "Weight is everything" - my motto on mountainbikes. As you mention this is the same with motorbikes for that purpose. The weight difference between EX and and "regular edition" is considerably. Not sure if it is possible to setup EX - version for street use. But the seat height - at least for me - points urgently to the "regular edition" version which can be ordered with 910mm height. I would feel even more safe with lower height. Unfortunately both version are not for use with sozius. For 2025 KTM will release a new "enduro r" with 390ccm besides updated models "enduro r 690". The weight will be very interesting to check. Ciao salve
@biboandagape
@biboandagape Ай бұрын
@freedomandbike Firstly, forget about the EX. It's competition only, limited number, much more expensive and a more delicate engine not suited for long traveling. The Standard version has a well tested, street derived engine. Perhaps the new KTM 390 (Adventure R and/or Enduro) could be a suitable platform, but I highly doubt in terms of weight.

Hi, I'm enjoying your videos, good content. I was wondering if you were planning on doing a video to compare the KOVE 450 to the KTM 500 EXC, and explain the reasons why you decided to change the KTM for the KOVE?
@biboandagape
@biboandagape Ай бұрын
@paweltarnowski383 It's easy to explain. The KTM is in Italy and I couldn't take it with me to Mexico, not worth it, otherwise I could have lived with it. My KTM bike is perfectly kitted, but I had to put on sale. The difference between the two bikes is that with the Kove you're already halfway set perfectly and the oil changes are slightly more distant.
@EverydayBronco-dh8hs
@EverydayBronco-dh8hs Ай бұрын
I have both, my take on them is the EXC is for going over and around obstacles sort of like off road gymnastics race. Kove 450 Rally is for going somewhere farther than you'd want to go on the EXC. EXC weighs around 250 lbs and is sketchy a heck over 65 mph on the road and doesn't have abs. The Kove is 70 lbs heavier (without fuel) and was designed to go the dakar speed limit of 87 mph, all day. I can feel the weight difference just moving them around in my garage. I can easily toss the rear end of the KTM closer to the wall, but the Kove takes a lot more muscle and I can still lift the rear, but I can't toss it. Considering both for light ADV bike, there's no contest, the EXC is just NOT that!

@EverydayBronco-dh8hs Hi, it really depends what type of traveling you intend doing. Doing the deserts in Morocco, Mauritania and Namibia I was very happy with the EXC and a light bike in general. In many countries, especially if you do offroad, you never need to exceed 100km/h.

A few notes: all the best tablets for motorbike are made in China, usually by the same producer; don't look at specs, but at proper accessories and support provided (rally and long traveling requirements are very stringent); once the tablet is working fine, no Android OS updates, not necessary; the best tablets employ fast cpu and have lots of memory, installing a few apps like iOverlander, OsmAnd and even GoogleMap is NOT a problem; keep the tablet dedicated to motorbike only, don't mess with it! BTW, on the Carpe Iter you can put a screen that improves the readability in direct sunshine.

@@TR850 Agreed...KTM and its associated brands should cease production in China. Same is true for all western companies who manufacture goods in China for export. They need to repatriate production in the 'West" or we need to help them overcome their greed and do the right thing by avoiding those specific products so they can see that we do not support the CCP's efforts to cause trouble for the world's democracies. I am not sure where you are from, but here in the US, so many of our small and mid-size towns have been hollowed out by shipping jobs to China. So sad and so short-sighted. I am not a big fan of tariffs, but I think it is inevitable that tariffs will be needed to force people to do the right thing. I just can't figure out why we in the "West" do not see the danger in supporting the CRINK's (China, Russia, Iran, and North Korea). While I'm tirading, I think India as a country needs to make a decision as to which side they are on. They cannot continue to support Russia's tragic war in Ukraine by buying their oil yet suffer no consequences for their actions. They either need to commit to democracy or else we need to turn our back on the country. I'm sorry to say that, but the time is now for the world to decide whether autocracy or democracy will win out. I for one sure hope it is democracy that comes out on top, though this is definitely not a foregone conclusion. I have heard that some of our politicians want to apply tariffs to Chinese imports to encourage them to manufacture in our countries. I say NO! We absolutely do not want more Chinese infiltration into our societies. This is not a game...this is serious! Thanks for your thoughtful comment, @TR850. @@TR850 Now is the Time to Let the World’s Autocracies Whither -Derek Thomas ON FAILED EXPERIMENTS Once a government grows in power beyond its necessary duty to redress the moral defects of an imperfect humanity and instead becomes a baton to control its subjects, autocracy is established. If allowed to flourish, it becomes impossible to extricate without great suffering and bloodshed. While under normal circumstances, the choice of a people to suffer under the tyranny of an authoritarian government should be just that, their choice, such is the state of world affairs and such is the inevitability that autocracies cannot contain tyranny within their borders, it is no longer possible for free people to peacefully coexist with them. The once-held notion that building up a thriving middle class within autocracies would eventually produce a just society has failed every place and in every way it has been attempted. The tragedy of these failed experiments has been that it has accomplished nothing more than feeding and growing the cancer of authoritarianism to metastasis. Its extraction has and will become ever more dangerous, yet ever more necessary. The opposite has also been tried with similar results. Sanctioning and closing off such societies from the benefits and efficiencies of reciprocal relations and trade has proven equally ineffective. In this case, however, their economy has been unable to grow to unmanageable proportions. The cancer persists but does not metastasize. Such countries become dependent on other autocracies and represent an undesirable burden on them. Without support, these travesties sadly either persist or mercifully collapse. ON WEAPONS OF MASS DESTRUCTION The development of weapons so destructive as to render their use unlikely except in the face of existential threat has had the effect of further enhancing the intractability of autocracies. All large wars are now proxy wars in which the holders of such weapons need not worry about the peace and security of the homeland. Autocracies holding such weapons cannot and should not be forcibly set free by outsiders. That does not mean that we cannot turn our backs on them. History has proven the durability and success of free nations and the weakness and failure of autocracies. The time is now to put an end to the autocracies’ practice of feeding off the success of free countries to enrich and empower themselves politically, financially and technologically. ON PEACE AND SECURITY Authoritarian regimes work tirelessly to convince their weak-minded subjects that guaranteeing peace and security is the most important role of government. Then they proclaim that their people have been provided with what they most covet. When anything happens that threatens peace and security, the authoritarian claims that his subjects must sacrifice their freedoms further in the name of peace and security. Without freedom as a bulwark against tyranny, a budding autocracy becomes a disgrace of human nature, an absolute government, an anathema to freedom. The autocracy at this point has reached critical mass, just as a nuclear weapon does, and nothing can stop the inevitable chain reaction. Avarice grows such governments in size and power. And while the proclamations of the Tsar are made more palatable by his appointed government, they are not more just. At this point the people are gentled, and fear moves freedom out of reach. In the Tsar lies many of the powers of GOD. The distinction between good and evil and the means to happiness or misery belongs to him. The Tsar IS the law. No more evil a work has been done by the Devil than the invention of Kings and Tsars. No more tempting to weak-minded people is the willingness to submit to such a ruler in the name of peace and security. Once freedom is given, only blood can secure it. ON CURRENT AFFAIRS One of the world’s most violent and militant autocracies declared war on the natural rights of its neighbor, and in doing so, has declared war on the free world. It has done so at great expense to itself and having no remaining friends in the free world, it has turned to the few remaining autocracies for support. Even though the other dictators know that a drowning man can pull his would-be savior under, they fear the loss of their own subjugation powers, so they are left with no choice but to provide support. History will show that it is this very country we can thank for marking the beginning of the end of autocracy as a cancer in the world. Autocratic countries will argue that they are fighting a civilizational battle with the free world…that they are no better and no worse than their free counterparts...that they have every right to exist despite their tyrannical nature. However, these countries do not represent civilizations. They have no real citizens. Instead, they have obedient subjects who fear the harsh reprisals of their tyrannical governments. They have Tsars or Kings or Great Leaders or General Party Secretaries or Supreme Leaders…all the same and all the work of the Devil. OUR TASK The people of the world must live in freedom for there to be real peace and security. One can never be exchanged for the other. Reasoning with autocracies is madness and folly. Now that they have attacked a country on the path to freedom, gone are any remains of kindred spirits with them. Freedom has departed them. Free people must look into the future and see that it is absent of autocracy to find the strength to hasten its end. Dear freedom-loving people of the world, now is the time to end all futile experiments. Now is the time to realize that autocracies should not and cannot be forcefully ended by external means. Now is the time to turn our backs on the authoritarian world and deprive them of the reciprocal benefits of trade and communication with us. Now is the time to wall ourselves off in every way from them. Now is the time to fend off attacks by autocracies on the free world. Now is the time to let the world’s autocracies whither. No matter the price, it will be worth it in the long term for the sake of our children’s futures. Out of their ashes must eventually grow just societies no matter the number of cycles of human misery required to achieve it. It is up to subjugated people to realize their misery and fight their way out of it. The free world cannot help them. They must realize that the Tsar is not the Law. The Law is Tsar, and the Law rightfully belongs to the people! We need not set them free. We need not and should not even support internal opposition. We need only to fend off their attacks on the free world and to banish them in every way until in their suffering, they by their own hand find their way out of the dark and into freedom. And they must find it without assistance! Only then can they be allowed to establish relations with the free world.

@aleksandrawierzbicka6920 It's the Pro Taper Evo handlebar - YZ High. For the specs you can look it up yourself.

Hi im looking to get the same handle bar and hand guard setup. Is the the riser and clamps made by hdb or is it another brand?

For your tools, maybe a plastic rain pipe that you mount in the left space of the skid plate or in the front of the skid plate behind the rear wheel would help you carry the tools. It's cheap, light, tough and absolutely waterproof

Yes, thank you. I'm aware of the mod. Nowadays, because of mouse + air, I need to carry much less tools which are extremely light and concentrated. It all fits in a small bag 20x15cm.

Is this a wide seat from UncleWang? Do you like it? Wouldn't it be better if the wide part went all the way to the end of the seat? Have you looked at the wide seats from SeatConcept?

Yes, it’s by Uncle Wang. Having the seat wide till the end is more esthetic than practical. You don't sit at the very end and for me it's usually covered by a bag. The Seatconcept option I'm sure it's excellent, although pricier.
