The monthly income, based on the federal minimum wage of $7.25 per hour for a full-time job of 40 hours per week,,amounts to around $1,256.96 per month before taxes. HUD's Definition of Affordable Housing: The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) defines housing as affordable if a household pays no more than 30% of its income on housing costs, including rent or mortgage, utilities, and insurance. This cannot be done in todays rental market. We need to mandate that all new multifamily complexes include a percentage of baseline units (300 Sq Ft) that can ONLY rent for 40 hours net pay at minimum wage. Eligibility of these units would be capped. When the persons income exceeds +X% (determined by local authority) of minimum wage they are expected to move on to a market rate unit. This will eliminate the need to subsidize market rate units and create a viable option for those on fixed incomes as well.

Many years ago I saw the need for the designs of virtually uncrashable/extremely crash resistance planes as an engineer it wasn't difficult to come up with several designs over 100 times safer BUT the build cost of such advanced aviation technologies would more than quadruple the normal construction cost of a single airliner. Even if one of these highly advanced aircraft designs did go down people would typically see minor injuries at worst unless it was hit by a missile or some other mid air collision but at the very least explosion resistant properties would significantly raise survivability rates via mid air collisions compared to the nearly 0% chance survival rate via airborne collisions of current modern aviation tech. Unfortunately it's the norm to prioritize "profit over safety" hence why tragic stories like this will continue to take place long as human greed over the dollar bill continue to rule technological development in nearly every category. One can ask themselves why only fighter jets are offered the luxury safety of ejection seats? Many fighter pilots would have lost their lives if not for ejection seats. Aviation safety within modern airlines can realistically easily evolve over 500 times safer but at a much much much higher production cost via lower build cost being valued allot more than human lives. The real issue to so many yearly disasters isn't necessarily with human error or lack of maintenance of all the cheaply assembled/cost effective machines of aviation but rather simply put the technology not being developed good enough to make flying much much safer. Pilots have to be extra careful cause of how "vulnerable" current aviation technologies are. Well it's sad this will be one of several tragedies like this for the rest of the year and the year after and the year after. Only real way to stop aviation tragedies altogether is to forget about construction costs savings and to actually design and build an airliner incorporating real safety technologies to successfully handle virtually any kind of emergency no matter the build cost. It breaks my heart several extra million dollars isn't financially worth real evolutionary safe measures for an airliner of "REAL SAFETY" instead of "build it cheap but train the pilots well".
