No, this place is overpriced as hell. Who the fuck charges $60 for $23 bottle of Weller. Total Wine has everything they have but cheaper. You can keep that place, the prices are criminal!! They won't get my business.

Appreciate this review. My local spot finally received the Double Oaked but i didn't want to spend $100. I tried ASW heartland single barrel and it wass outstanding... that bottle is $85

Just tried Pikesville recently - so good! Michter’s is very mild and watery to me. Im sure the barrel strength is great, but the standard is very forgettable.

Both are a wonderful pour but the Pikesville does bring a lot more punch to the palate than michters. But there are days where a little more mellow flavors of rye and sweetness are warranted instead of the intensity so I'll keep both around for sure! Have a wonderful evening and cheers ~

The toasted barrel rye was definitely not one of my favorites but the barrel strength bourbon is a good blend and one I'll try to get as long as my budget allows 😉. Have a fantastic evening and cheers ~

Hey Mark! Thanks for the kind words, greatly appreciate it! The calumet 15 is more fruit forward with less "sweetness" like caramel and dark sugars. The Russell's Single Barrel has more of the traditional bourbon flavors, but the Calumet 15 has more of a "spectrum" of sweetness that I enjoyed and took some time to find. With food, I would do Russell's, if you're going to take your time and enjoy the ride, I would prefer the Calumet 15. Hope this helps! I truly appreciate your view and comment! It is a pleasant experience with subtle yet noticeable amount of fruit flavors that offers a spectrum of sweetness that many bourbons don't offer due to the dominant flavors (caramel, vanilla, etc.). Sam Houston 15 is better 😆. It be I only had one pour of the Sam Houston (never had a bottle), but I remember it had more of the bourbon caramel and dark sugars that we all love along with the fruit, which I really liked. I’ve heard rumors that Calumet is comparable to Pappy and has held its ground in blind tastings. I think for $100 it’s worth a try 🥃

In a blind, Pappys don't do very well (lower proof, wheated bourbon, etc.) but just like the Pappy, this Calumet 15 is an experience you'll have to take in slowly and appreciate the subtle spectrum of flavors that is provides. I’ve never had Calumet, seen and heard of it of course. Sounds like an interesting pour for sure. Even at $100 I’d probably pass since it’s not even on my short list of bottles I’m looking for. I’ll have to try it at a bar if I see it.

I bought the 16 in Wisconsin because it was marked down to $90. I wouldn't buy it again even at that price, but maybe I'd prefer the 15? I'd maybe be tempted under $80.

Alright as a teacher to someone learning anything, that is dealing with subjective. Audio, liquor, beer, wine, coffee (fellow roaster here). Price doesn't mean better. You can sample 20k speakers or 20 year spirits, or rare coffee. Will a beginner like it. Maybe. I'm hearing you say this is a good try and experience. If you don't the funds, try something else. But if you are looking for a new good experience go for it. It's really deciphering the code of if "I" should buy it for my funds and needs/wants/experiences. Thanks, you lay it out in a concise, relatable way.

I mentioned it before. I've found store picks to be close or closer to MSP at local places. Check the end caps, ask if they have picks and don't settle. Love this topic of fair price and value. If it's good and reasonable i'll pay. If you say unicorn tears, i'll get my unicorn credit card out.

David old boy. It's great to see your channel is getting noticed and people are wanting you to review bottles. What do you think about maybe doing a comparison to the 16 year release ? It's been a couple of years since someone has done a comparison and I am wondering if any thing has changed with the newer releases. I paid $129 for my bottle of the 16 about a month ago after waiting for about a year for it to come back down in price from $159. I think that the 16 is probably a good buy at about $80 to $90. But as we all know these days "Pay to play". Thanks David D
