I've heard of Hi Proof , but haven't visited yet. I am further than you. (about 90 mins away). I will definitely check them out, next time in the area. Question. How do they handle allocated bourbons? Random drops, or is it held for customers that spend XXX amount ? If it's for customers that spend $$$, I would rather buy everything from them every few months rather than going to Total Wine (their grand reserve status is a joke).

@@ryansullada1361 Hey Ryan! Of course things could change, but for now, it seems they have a "build your own bundle" for the Buffalo Trace allocated bottles. I.e. if you spend $200 on a list (it's a big list), you can buy Stagg for $60 (if it's in stock). Or you can buy Stagg alone at $200. And they do that for the Wellers, EH Taylors, etc. For others, they either make a bundle or even sell them by itself. Best way to get notified is following them on Instagram. If you plan to go there every couple of months and plan to buy a lot, I would definitely talk to the manager (Joseph) before you go to see what they have and what they can do for you. It might be nothing, but it never hurts to call ahead before you head down to see what they have. You can also check out their website and it provides more information on the bundles and "build your own bundles". If you do go there or call, let them know I sent you 🙏. Hope this helps and cheers~

Hey Odeh! I believe this place got enough marketing from all the Facebook groups that already gave them plenty of exposure. Also, I decided to do the video as most of their good pricing is the "shelf whiskeys" like JD Barrel Proofs, Barrell Whiskeys, Michter's Standard stuff, etc. Always remember, more of those they sell, more allocated stuff they get so hopefully you'll be able to get some of those when they release them 🤞. David, This store is a great find for sure ! We both travel about the same distance to this fine establishment just from different directions but it's just flat out worth it. Just a note to your viewers is they ship without delay. I was there and came home and (as you know) ordered a bottle I missed the very same day through their on line store. I figured a week or so ... oh no... it was delivered to me two days later. Another thing is they have bulk shipping deals (check their shipping details on line) so if the distance or traffic is too much keep that in mind. I understand their concerns but there is a reason why 90% of the bottles I highlighted were non-allocated or whiskeys you can find in other stores (Total Wine, etc.) as I want to help the business but not make it so they just get the people who come in and want the Staggs or Wellers. But also I'm not big enough to make a huge difference in any stores, so they shouldn't be too worried. Hello~ A bourbon with a butterscotch or caramel bomb... I would recommend ASW Fiddler Georgia Heartwood, preferably a store pick or a Maker's Mark 46 Cask Strength / The Heart Release (if it's available in your area) or Redwood Empire Pipe Dream Cask Strength. Some other sweeter profiles that's a little unique would be Smoke Wagon Uncut Unfiltered and Still Austin Cask Strength bourbon. So this video is a double edged sword, yes this store has great selection & prices. It’s been a location of mine for a while. I also had a prior store in So Cal before I started shopping here that had great prices. They got popular and you guessed it they raised the prices and in my opinion are not a lower priced option anymore. Better buy from Hi-proof while you can, I’m looking for my next low priced store now.

Maybe I should have said it differently. Wild turkey is relabeling the Kentucky spirit to wild turkey private selections or single barrels I believe. I am new to Cali and I commented on the IG paging asking why so many bundles and they blocked me.... Not sure what the issue is a lot of stores where im from still just puts everything out and rarely up charges

Unfortunately, you'll get used to bundles real quick here in California 🙄. Only places that doesn't do bundles (yet) are the big box stores (total wine, bevmo) and grocery stores. Small independent mom and pop shops in the area have to do so with their allocated whiskeys to stay in business. I have a talked to many liquor store owners and it has mostly to do with the 3 tier system and what the distribution company requires them to buy to get the allocated bottles. It's complicated but I would recommend if you have time to go into your local store (or hi proof) and just talk to them about it. Hopefully this helps! Have a wonderful day and cheers~

Hi Times is also a great store with some fantastic prices as well! Of course their allocated stuff is "market" price, but that's expected in that part of town. Those prices look pretty damn good to me especially the Bardstown single barrel. I think I paid 75 to 90 depending on the single barrel. I’m assuming they keep it at SRP or is close to it as they can by doing volume sales. Cheers David 🥃

Vendome isnt terrible, but Total Wine right up the road on Imperial has not only a better selection but far better pricing than them. At least for spirits I don’t see any reason to go to Vendome. They don’t have anything that stands out over TW.

The majority of these prices are fantastic and destroy what they go for in the Houston market. The Westward and JDSBBP were exceptional. Garrison pricing is exact same as in Texas.

I am sure I don't understand enough about distribution and allocation to make sense. But why can't in the US we have a system that covers the cost of logistics and transport and shipping which obviously varies by state to get bottles from Kentucky or any other origin state to other states. So maybe there will be up to 20-25% per bottle variance. But these huge variances across states just seems ludicrous. I mean if prices could be this good like this store everywhere plus the logistics variance per state, everyone wins because sales go up and distilleries move more product.

I'm going to be honest, I'm probably not going to do too many hunt videos. Hi Proof has the lighting, prices, etc. To make one but others are not as great. Regarding the Stagg, I found it at an AVP store (Albertsons, Vons, Pavillions). I just can't say the exact one as they asked me not to. Hope that helps 😉.

Also, there is a reason I didn't mention any buffalo trace allocated bottles or many in general. Only ones I mentioned was joseph magnus cigar blend, wild turkey generations, and the four gate (maybe). All other bottles are whiskeys you can get anywhere just at a better price. I'm hoping with this video, hi proof will get more customers that will want the shelf ready whiskeys, which is how they stay in business 😉. Hey Clayton. If you judge every non-chain or small liquor stores to the big box ones (total wine, etc.) on allocated whiskeys, you're not going to like it 99% of the time. Not sure if you watched the video, but I made sure I didn't show any allocated bottles (Wellers, Staggs, etc.) as those are hit and miss in most small liquor stores and not sure the last time I saw one at Total Wine (unless you go during opening and get lucky). I compared a lot of the whiskeys at Hi Proof to Total Wine and even showed the price difference. If you're just looking for Weller, Hi Proof (or any other small liquor store in Southern California) isn't going to be for you. But I understand that. Not every store can be for everybody. If you do find a place with good prices on Weller and have it on the shelf all the time, let me know as I would love to know 😆. Cheers~
