That pigeon tarot is so sweet! And I've been thinking about getting the winterseer animal oracle since last winter (the magpie card is a big encouragement of course) - love how it pairs with the Witch Sister too.

Love all your goodies. I don’t know for sure, but I think your doll is German made. I remember some similar dolls that were made by a German company. Idk. I could be wrong, but it might be a place to start.

Thank you. German would make sense, given some of their family lineage, but also the style made me think this and was my first guess. I’m not sure if it’s one of the items they were handed down. I’m not sure if it’s my sleep deprivation, but I saw a really interesting face in the wood grain in your table and was totally mesmerized by it. I made a slight deviation to my mega deck configuration. I took out the 9 repeating cards, and a further 7 cards, to make the animal oracle deck to be 40 cards. I prefer both of my decks to have an equal number cards, so that there would be an equal balance of plants to animals. Also, having just 80 cards make it more manageable to shuffle. I'm loving this configuration 😊

We def have some deck crossovers in these kind of tastes and art styles. o0o I love you fave choices. Interesting. I'm so having a moment with that French deck too. I put it away for summer, as it was in my spring mix. But it keeps jumping back out, lol.

Thank you for sharing this. I've had both of these decks for quite some time now and have not yet taken the time to look through either guidebook. I've gone back and forth whether I need to keep either of these decks and keep thinking I want to rehome them but never quite pull the trigger. After watching this and learning a few things about the decks that I didn't know, (I had no idea that the Winter Seer had Nordic influences which is something that I've been studying, ironically) I intend to keep them. Which makes me happy 😅

My copy of Medicine Woman deck is so old, my copy is sepia on tan instead of color and my guidebook is 8x11" and spiral bound. I love Tarot of the Pagan Cat's even though the guidebook is awful. I have most of these decks and I also don't recommend them even though I love them.

I watched the video Cody made, love their perspective on... everything really. I considered doing one of these. Medicine Women hits me in the dark. I get mad every time I see it, and then tell myself it's a shadow I should address, but I don't. Maybe I will find the guidebook somewhere someday and read it. Medicine Cards, on the other hand is right up my street. (I see the ridiculousness). I also love TWU, but it doesn't really need our help, does it. If I did a video like this, it'd mostly be, well this one's oop and this one is too... 🫣

But it’s definitely not for everyone. Some of the book really irks me. Other parts are just great. Super mixed. 😂 TWU definitely doesn’t need our help. Too true. I left out my oops but for sure I’d have a few. Animal Wise Tarot first to mind as it’s another of my absolute favourites. 🤩 I say do all the oop videos you like. Although, easier said than done. I appreciate online backlash isn’t fun.

I think the beauty of coming from this place is the critique is balanced by our enjoyment of the deck, but also years of experience with them. So it’s easier to think about others too, outside of my experience. Which is predominantly what I share in reviews. That’s so interesting about the wildwood. So it got downgraded 😂🔥 I honestly would have included fairies oracle, ravens prophecy and hidden realms in mine. But you did an ace job.

Confession: If I still did videos about decks, my reviews would be overwhelmingly positive. But not because of consumerism. The truth is, I am at a place in my spiritual and tarot journey that I know what works for me: what card depictions are deal breakers, guidebook likes/dislikes, cardstock, themes, etc. The decks that would get critical reviews for me in a first impressions video don't make it into my collection anymore. I buy things I know I will love to work with. Also, I remember when I did make videos, if I discussed working with a deck that was OOP, people would complain that it wasn't available to purchase and ask me not to show those decks, even if my purpose was to share my tarot practice, not sell decks. I say this because a lot of pressure is put on creators without acknowledging that community is co-created. Viewers interact 10x more with haul videos and deck collection videos, thereby creating the demand for the content they say they are tired of. I still love the community. But I feel like in social media in general, all the pressure is on the creators with no acknowledgment that viewers influence content as much as the other way around. As always, I enjoy hearing your thoughts and hearing your insights. I also recently listened to a podcast you were a guest on and I enjoyed that as well.

It’s good to hear from you 🥰 Some of these points are similar to sentiments I shared in a video discussing how I approach reviewing, but some just private thoughts. It makes sense over time we get a lot less in that doesn’t vibe with us in the same way. I definitely still outgrow my time with decks, but the experience isn’t bad. I’m just done with them occasionally. And even that isn’t something occurring regularly. I so appreciate your comments on how viewers influence content. It’s something I’ve tried to explore as each time I discuss card meanings or other more practice based explorations, engagement shifts. I do what I enjoy, so a mishmash. But it’s funny to see folks asking for one thing, yet voting for another, as it were. It’s always been sad to me to hear the backlash on someone discussing an oop deck. I love the inspiration or even simple enrichment of listening to someone share their practice and intimate experience with a deck. Not owning it, and never having the chance to really isn’t a factor. But I suppose that’s how some of our online content has changed over time. Ah the wildly tarot podcast. That was such a fun time. I really enjoyed that, so I’m glad it was an enjoyable listen. 🥰

@cosmic.creeper I agree with you about outgrowing decks or having decks that are only with you for a season. I think we have to re-think the idea that a deck-or any other interest/love- has to stay there your whole life to be valid. An experience doesn't have to be eternal to change you forever. I have had decks that I have worked with really intensely for a period then moved along. I'm not tempted to buy them again but the lessons and experiences still influence me to this day.

Loooove this video concept, so thanks be to Codi lol. Oh man, The Wild Unknown was my very first deck and I can confirm, it’s horrible for beginners lol. The guidebook, for me, was painfully uninformative. Which sucked because I loved the artwork at the time. I know Carrie Mallon, is it? Has that guide she wrote for TWU independently, and I’m sure that’s an invaluable resource for any new reader picking up TWU. But like Kim Krans…why tf spend the money on a guidebook that could’ve been a pamphlet? Lol

Isn’t it a fun concept for a video. I had fun with it 🥰 and it’s a respectful way to go about critiquing. Which I always appreciate. I figured if you watched you’d have feelings about this one. I have to say, the archetypes guidebook is amazing in comparison (and the alchemy from what I saw), so it seems like she’s definitely made changes in how she presents her guidance. Which was welcome as I do love to read the artistic intention. Yes, Carrie’s wild unknown blog is still a gem. I often direct folks to it still.

This was such fun! Your choice of the Wild Unknown was very on point. I have that deck and I really didn't like it at first. I started to come around to it a bit more after your Patreon video on reading the tarot intuitively with your brother. Certainly, I find it does better with multi-card readings than single card pulls. There might be a plethora of animal oracles these days, but I've yet to find one that's Australian focused. If you see one, please let me know! Also, I generally find your reviews to be pretty balanced and I think you do a great job with that.

My brother really took to it, didn’t he? I wonder if it was the freedom of not feeling confined by knowing a tarot system already. There’s a few decks I’ve seen with many or all Australian animals. I don’t presently own them, so I can’t speak from experiential use. But I’ll share the names: Wild Wisdom Australia and I believe Animal Dreaming Oracle Cards (not to be confused with the world version) are mostly if not all Australian too, due to the creator. I’d love to hear if either end up with you, and I’ll keep my eyes peeled for more. Also, thank you for your lovely comments on my reviews. I appreciate it 🥰

@elizabethfitzgerald I thought the wild wisdom looked good. I’m intrigued myself, from a learning standpoint. As I don’t know as many. I’m far more well versed on Europe, N&S America then prob Africa - whereas I think I have far more in Asia, Antarctica and Australia to discover. In my humble opinion, TWU is a great one for flexing those intuitive muscles. Cause people can pull on what the lines, colours, shapes or animals make them think/feel. As it’s not overloaded with symbolism or scene.
