You can use the turkey and pork “mince” for whatever you would use beef mince for. In red sauce for spaghetti, or meatloaf. Sauté it and use in tacos, or make a Mexican casserole with mince, tomatoes, corn, and cheese (with cumin and chili seasoning.) Add barbecue sauce and serve on buns as “sloppy joes”. Sauté the turkey, add boxed chicken broth, and drop in dumplings. Put some pork in a stir fry or sauté, add lots of pepper and sage to turn it into a kind of pseudo-sausage, add a cream sauce and serve over (American) biscuits for “biscuits and gravy.” I better stop … I’m making myself hungry.

Turkey loaf just like meatloaf. Pork loaf or a mixture of the two. Meatballs delicious. Yummy. I love ground turkey in lettuce. For a yummy cold salad. Or warmed up.

Also, turkey mince, pork mince bread crumbs, onions, seasoning, beaten egg for a meat loaf, centre of meat loaf some chicken breast, some cranberry sauce, line the loaf tin with bacon and cover top of loaf also with bacon.

As a full time cook in the past i used to use 100% beef mince for bolognaise. Now i use 50/50 beef mince, pork mince, it's actually nicer.

You might want to keep the mince in the Fridge until you get home. Otherwise, maybe sitting out in the heat for too long if your working till 5.

I did the same Karen. I had a lamb leg in the freezer for ages. I roasted it but coukdnt face a full dinner. I found in the freezer, mixed roots, a bag of onions, some mushrooms . So I made bone broth with some stock cubes (had a couple of hot drinks first) and made a stew with garden tomatoes, pots and broad beans. Yum!!

War in the next three years. Well i guess it depends who he's talking about. Currently huge corporations in cahoots with our government are poisoning our food, water and air, they are running us into the ground financially, they are bringing in literal boat loads of people day after day, they've run down our school system, medical care, infrastructure such as water suppplies. The list goes on. By the looks of it we are already in a war. Its not with russia or china though.

I've always had extra, (now, more so). I have been ready for guests, car trouble, illness, injuries, and unfathomable things that have popped up. People here panic-buy when any snow is forecast, but I never have to worry. Mind you, money has been almost missing at times, but we always had what we needed. I have no idea why people don't buy extra when they can, especially when they are on sale. I always have.

I don't just prep for food but I prep for illnesses ie colds, headaches, cuts, tcp, and sudden disability ie crutches, wheelchairs, hi-viz, big torch, walking boots etc. There will be times when people cannot use a car ie illness, or vehicle in garage for days, and you still need to get about. One cannot be reliant on a car if one is ill, we need to keep fit regularly too. as we get older keeping our independence is important, we cannot rely on others to help us

IMy essentials include biscuits as that will make me less grumpy and best for everyone. I stock a lot of dried food like porridge, barley, lentils, wheatberries and sauces and spices to make my food more interestiing. I say no to more things that cost me more and make me not have to much storage space, like having domestic pets and kids, my cubby holes have much more space for essentials. It has been nice not to go shopping into town every week, if the weather is poor or I just want to other things. It is quite fun being creative with what you have got towards the end of the weeks when things start getting low. I like to feel I can be prepared in powercuts

I just finished reading a story about Chechnya. In the story, people weren’t always able to eat every day and the main character, who was a doctor, ate boiled potatoes for her dinner. Nobody in the city had electricity for over four years. This reality based story was very sobering since the story was based in our time.

Be careful with dried dog food. I find it doesn’t tend to last very long and can go off quite quickly even though it’s dried. It’s best to use it within 6 months of the date. It doesn’t store well in mylar bags

I made 4 pork pies yesterday. I only needed to buy the meat. I save the dripping everytime I cook meat,so when I have enough I make a batch of pies to freeze. Already had the flour, herbs and co. I don't understand people who have no food,or the makings of food in the house. So for me 8 meals worth of pie for £6 I think it was for the meat, and flour. And its good hearty food. Or I could have bought less meat and padded it out with potatoes.

I totally agree...preps make life easier. This week we've had or are having three different sets of visitors to our home. Having a lot of foods, TP, hand soap, etc. on hand has helped me not have to buy lots of extra things because we're having so much company. I hope to take note of what we're short on and bulk things up nicely again in the fall.

I've been "prepping" so long I don't even think it had a name back then. It's saved us so many times over the years, through a job loss and dangerous weather and bad health (not to mention lockdowns)--to the point that instead of saying it made life easier, I'd have to say it made life possible. For the life of me, I don't know why everyone doesn't do this.

Currently the MoD employs around 63,500 civil servants. There are 183,000 active military personnel in our armed forces. We have 36 Admirals for 70 ships in our navy. One Air Chief Marshal for 564 aircraft in our air force. For the most part the military political establishment represents a huge gravy train for a lot of useless superannuated people.

At 60 years old now, I raised 4 kids of my own, my niece and several cousins kids (3 cousins died within months of each other) . . . As a single mother I learned to garden, can, dehydrate, forage from my grandma and endless amounts of knowledge from my 10 years in the Army . . . A huge piece of mind having preps

I'm looking forward to being back where I am in a little village and I'm going to all the regular places I used to go as a child and have missed so much. You are so right pets are a huge piece of mind:-) money in the bank. They are paid for :-)

Been living this life style for many years. It’s not only making your life sooo much easier but it’s saving you so much money in general. I have back up for my back ups..what do I mean you ask..well if I run out of fresh potatoes I have instant potatoes..if I want fried potatoes or French fries I have my home canned..if I want hash browns I have my home dehydrated hash. If I run out of fresh onions I have homemade dehydrated onions or onion powder..I try to never run out of my fresh butter as I keep several lbs on hand but I also have my home canned butter..I’m almost out of my dehydrated mixed veggies still have enough to last us a couple more meals so tomorrow I will buy several more lbs to dehydrate..For the past several years I have been able to put on a full thanksgiving meal because I bought turkeys on sale so have 3-4-turkeys in my freezer yearly..with potatoes (various forms) stuffing, homemade rolls, home canned cranberry sauce, frozen, canned or dehydrated veggies..I also have home canned pie fillings (several varieties) or canned pumpkin or home dried dehydrated pumpkin powder, home rendered lard to make my pie crust..always have heavy cream to make my whipped cream or a copycat dream whip.. most likely won’t have fresh cabbage to make out coleslaw or turnips for another side but it’s nice knowing that this Thanksgiving I already have my holiday meal ready at all times..Having a huge stocked pantry, home canned, store bought canned goods and freezers full has helped me save 10’s of thousands of dollars over the years. Especially since I live 40-mins one way to the nearest grocery store.

I can't help but see a lot of talk ramping up about war. It seems to me that the "powers that be" actually want this 🤔. In my mind it's all about power - for the elites and not for us!!! Then (in their minds) they can change our lives forever and I fear, not for the betterment.

There is already a war going on, it is rich vs the poor. We are paying more taxes and the cost of everything is skyrocketing faster than paycheques. People are so afraid and confused that they don't see who the real enemy is. So we have authorities telling us to look three years ahead? No, the wolf is almost at the door, the time for action is now. Stock up on seeds for sprouting, that can be done throughout the winter. Grow chives, they are pretty hardy and when dried, are a good addition to soup mix. Everything that you learn is a tool for survival.

There's nothing wrong with being prepared. Here in the US, the news doesn't tell us anything important, but the signs things are crazy are there. I actually use the BBC app more than watch my own news. Here people are fairly oblivious, but it's always good to be prepared. One lady I watch 8 hours from me here on YT says if all turns out well and we're all sipping margaritas on the beach, then no harm done.
