Update On The Toothache

This has been a weird couple of days. Not something I would want to go through again.

Good that you got in so quickly. They can develop really fast. I had a root canal fail and I ended up with blood poisoning. Multiple high level antibiotics and pain meds. They had to cut into my jaw to drain as much as they could. Eventually just had the tooth pulled. I don't bother with root canals anymore. Just pull them.

Once you finish the Antibiotics Karen, start taking a pre-biotic. Unfortunately, they kill off all bacteria which knocks the immune system to crap. Tooth ache is crap an abscess is a nightmare. Takes 72 hours for antibiotics to really kick in so, hopefully you'll then be able to stagger the pain killers to work for longer.

Dental abscesses are no joke. One of my co-workers had one & ended up in the hospital for a week with blood poisoning. She had a piece of popcorn that was stuck in her tooth, under the gum line that started all the problems. I floss & brush religiously now.

Tooth abscess friends! 👋 had to have a root canal last week, not too bad in the end. I can recommend propolis capsules and salt water rinses. Both have helped me zap the infection and recover. Feel better soon xox

I feel for you, Karen. My doctor descibed abcess pain as "commanding"---ie it takes over your life. Well done for being so brave.

It literally does take over,, I couldn't focus on anything else,, I used salt and paracetamol to ride it out,, it eventually burst and it's the greatest feeling I've ever had,, it was almost two weeks of it and i mentally drained by the end.

​@@NettiieBThey rupture when it reaches peak inflammation. And you feel pressure releasing when it bursts,, then there's a foul taste and smell for a good 12 hours. Its the pressure that causes the intense pain

Very important to have had treatment. I had an absence when I was a child really really bad pain,guess what the doctor came to the house. That was the 1960's. Take Care.

Me too and boy were dentures a relief! I was in my 30's. Years of hell before that.

Hi Karen! I was just thinking about you. I've had those abcesses and they are straight from that fiery hole. Glad it is getting less painful. I've always battled with bad teeth. Genetics. I can't afford dentures. Yikes! Here's to a quicker recovery!

Poor you ! I sympathise, been suffering with a gum infection myself and the pain is awful. I treat it with salt mouthwash and painkillers, (over the counter - forget about getting anything else !) no chance of getting dental treatment here ! you were lucky to get straight in. Don't worry about eating, as long as you are getting plenty of fluids.

Hi Karen you have my sympathy A while ago the back if one of my teeth broke off leaving a hole,while the front was still in place I developed an abcess and had to go on antibiotics and get the rest of the tooth taken out after it settled Still remember the pain.Hope you get it sorted soon ❤

I wouldnt wish an abcess on anyone,, its absolutely horrible. I had one around late January and the swelling went right under my right eye it was that bad. It burst one evening and ive never been so relieved in my life,, the smell and taste was vile but i didnt care 😂. I slept like a baby for 10 hours that night.

I am so sorry. all three of us are on the third day of Covid. we were all immunized but is peaking in this area. very low energy and aches, Son fixed Trev and I some rice and veg

I feel your pain, I’ve had one since last Thursday , non of the pain killers have helped, only eaten today just lived on coffee, back at the dentist on the 16 and then appointment to have it out , once antibiotics are done, got that bad I thought I was going to have to go to A& E, hope yours is soon sorted x

I had a upper molar tooth that had a abscess which was caused my a irritated nerve which my dentist filled in which was what caused the abscess which hurt so much ❤❤

Don't know if you have Amosan over there, but it does help with the tenderness as does diluted peroxide rinses or salt water rinses. I am going next week to get a root canal. My dentist and I had been fighting a tooth trying to save it for the last 7 months, but we lost the battle. Next step, root canal and a cap. Still coming out cheaper than an implant if the root canal and cap will hold. Brushed my teeth in December and suddenly found a wobbly tooth, but no pain at that time. Not the case as of now. Tomorrow is 4th of July here, and I will not be partaking of any of the bbq. Hope you get to feeling better soon!

Id not recommend straws ouch. Sucking is the last thing you want to do with an abscess,, infact just the thought of it would increase the pain.

@@snowy5742 whatever works to get fluids and food in. But sucking I find is going to aggravate the pressure around the abscess,, increases pressure.

You need to get the abcess lanced. I was in this situation a few years ago and taking antibiotics was only a temporary fix.

Maybe try warm chicken broth Chicken broth is very good for any inflammation in our bodies and immune system

Eat full fat Greek yogurt to replenish everything the antibiotics are killing, Or acidophilus. Get well ❤️‍🩹
