For night shots and ambient light, I've started to use the Godox AD200 with the round head...but using the modelling light only...not the flash... Nice to see the LED's you use though.

I have to say this video made me feel SOO much more confident going into shooting my VERY FIRST wedding next week! I was so nervous not knowing how to pose the couple and what to expect. I was trying to find company’s where I could shadow wedding photographers but stumbled upon this video and didn’t even know that people uploaded all this behind the scenes footage ! THIS IS A LIFE SAVER! THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR EXPERTISE ! I feel SOO much better going into my first wedding shoot! 🎉so grateful

Hi john, I wanted to ask you; should the HDR option on the mac settings be kept disabled? And how do you recommend connecting your monitor to your Mac Mini? USB-C or HDMI?

I have recently started showing a "prices starting at.." displayed on my website(recently changed from showing three-tier packages for coverage). Can you show the largest value version of a wedding photography day as an option for them so they can take away items, that they don't need, and be customisable on a enquiry appointment? Or show all three coverage levels on offer on the website upfront and help decide the best option to fit the couple's wedding day timeline one value option(in an enquiry appointment together).

Xt30 isn’t very good quality. Some fuji cameras are becoming just about looks and film sims, not much substance. My xt30 lasted about 2 years before the shutter release stopped releasing 😅

ALWAYS screen your couples during your consult. If they mention wanting things that aren't typical of your brand/style that are already on your website/social media, do NOT accept their business. You're better off turning away money than working with someone that is looking to book a button-pusher to do their bidding.

Great list, John. I usually bring a 40-inch octabox on a stick and a big 5-in-1 reflector to use either as a scrim for harsh sunlight, reflector or a plain background if needed. LED light is a great tip, been thinking of buying one lately. Love your channel, it's pure gold on the internet. Thanks for all your energy and time you are putting in. ♥

@jbivphotography5 күн бұрын
I haven't. I still mainly use my X-T5 for weddings. I only occasionally use my GFX for weddings.
@jayk36425 күн бұрын
I'll be honest, something gets lost on the whole "I'm a Fuji wedding photographer", when you pull out a medium format. Obviously you've done great work with APS-C but going medium format kind of squashes the allure of being different by shooting Fuji. Loved when Fuji photographers would stick it to the full frame snobs...now it's medium format or bust? Hard pass. I'd vote get rid of the GFX and get back to killing it with what made you stand out from the rest.
@jbivphotography5 күн бұрын
Yeah. My GFXs don't really get as much use as I would like and honestly the X-T5s are the most versatile and useful.

@jbivphotography6 күн бұрын
It depends on the camera. You might get a little grain, but if you have the flash powerful enough it won't be that bad.

My wedding photographer offered me the RAWs from our wedding without me asking, as I'd had a lot of good chats with him about photography. I have to admit though, I was so happy with his edits that I've never ended up playing around with the RAWs myself.

Absolutely agree, DJ's really can kill your photos 100%. Happened to me many times. Just tell them to dial it down or even better, no spot lights at all when The First Dance takes place. I take thousands of dance photos because many times people have funny blue and orange spots on their faces due to DJ lights.

Thank you for the informative video. I own a GFX 50S II and would like to upgrade to a newer body within the next year. It would be good to know if either the GFX 100 S II or the GFX 100 II can meet the needs of your business. I expect the money lost on selling a used GFX 100 II might decrease the value of the cheaper camera in your case. I think the smaller body would be better for a general walk around camera, but for weddings and other business purposes, I think the more expensive model makes sense.

Why are so many SD cards and why are they all numbered?
@jbivphotography8 күн бұрын
I like to set up my SD cards in sets so that I can leave photos on them for a little bit after I import them at home. When I do a wedding I need 4 SD cards (2 for each camera) and I shoot on them all as a set. The numbers just let me know which set they’re a part of.

I am a full kit Sony shooter (A7iv, A7rV, A9iii) but just picked up a GFX 100S (not ii) with the 80mm and 30mm lenses as my first foray medium format. I am excited to incorporate it into my workflow for its specific purpose; the high resolution, high quality, deliberate image capturing tool that I need it to be.
